Chapter VII: The Chosen One
Enduring the dragon's upside-down answer, Xuanzang finally barely sorted out the story he said.
The whole story is described in great detail, especially the part about the gods showing him a vision of the end of the world. Through the narration of the keel, Xuanzang seemed to have seen it with his own eyes, and he was very impressed by several of the key words.
The blood-colored waves, the human body churning up and down in the sea of blood, the huge horns hanging in the air, and the fusiform flat shipβthe keel of which the ark was cast in its shape.
But no matter how Xuanzang guided, he always refused to say what the gods looked like.
Later, Xuanzang also asked him about his experience of gathering believers, which was unremarkable, like everyone who did it. The only interesting thing is that Keel tends to pick people who are a bit as neurotic as he is. Perhaps this type of person is more downplayed by the concept of the immortal Buddha in the present world, and is more receptive to the crazy scenes he describes, and the all-knowing and all-powerful god.
Most people are dissatisfied with the status quo, especially living in such a hostile environment, and naturally there will be a desire to reshuffle everything again. And everyone believes that they are special, and that they are very different from the mediocre people around them, who will always be recognized at some meaningful moment and take on the mission of turning the tide.
Because it is easy to resonate, there will always be a market for this kind of prophecy.
Panic is created with doomsday prophecies, and the signs gathered in reality are used to corroborate them, and people look forward to the future after the Flood. At the same time, to create a perfect image of the god, as the prophet personally chosen by this god, the appeal of the keel is self-evident.
When a working furnace was found inside Serpentine Mountain, the frenzy in these people intensified, and they were completely convinced that they were the chosen ones.
They built up their initial power and slowly amassed some weapons and possessions. Then began to increase the number of slaves in the steel mills, controlling them with bomb-equipped collars, completely eroding their dignity as human beings and turning them into tools that did not know how to resist.
These people began to build the ark according to the blueprint depicted by the dragon bone, stockpiling food.
In contrast, the hunting driver is just an embellishment. The dragon bones motivate them with glorious surnames and ritualistic hunting behaviors, and establish a level promotion system. By the later period, a part of the followers had risen from slave status, and these people were more convinced. At the same time, because of the oppression they had suffered, they treated their original class more harshly.
There are also decorations such as branding, which are also to enhance the sense of ceremony. They had never seen the sea, but they were convinced that they had pirate blood in them, and that they would ride the waves of the apocalypse.
It's this eccentric bunch of fanatics who built everything in the cavern.
"Did you get any inspiration from the old madman's words?" The white dragon asked.
Xuanzang didn't answer, but asked them first: "What do you two think?" β
The white dragon said that he had no interest in the deranged guys.
Wukong said thoughtfully: "These concepts should not come out of thin air. Even if it is an illusion, it can be consistent in repeated questioning, which is enough to prove that it is not a random fabrication, and there should be a prototype. β
"The visions that the mentally ill see are usually very realistic and concrete." Bailong said.
Xuanzang nodded. The doomsday prophecy of the dragon bone has a complete set of logic, and the behavior after receiving the oracle is also very organized, and it should be mentioned. However, the logic of many mentally ill patients is also very rigorous, and judging from the performance of the keel, the possibility of his mental disorder cannot be completely ruled out.
"One problem though, is that his account of what preceded the oracle was very vague and inconsistent." Xuanzang pondered, "For this part, I have asked questions many times. He didn't refuse to ask about the identity of the gods, but the answers couldn't be connected.
"It's a lot like what happens after being overly frightened, and the psychological self-protection mechanism can cause that memory to be confused or disappear. For the memory gap that ensues, they will replace it with a set of lies that they believe deeply. Comparatively speaking, this set of lies will be very organized. β
"So you suspect he was stupid and made up these things himself?" "And he insisted on refusing to reveal the identity of the god because this god did not actually exist?" β
"Yes, this is my personal guess. I don't think a new god will suddenly emerge at such a time. β
"Is it possible that the man who frightened him deliberately pretended to be a god and told him this prophecy?" Goku offers another insight.
Xuanzang said: "It's also very likely that it will be used to cover up something he doesn't want to get out." And for that purpose, that person can't just kill him......"
He walked over to the cage door again and asked the dragon again where he had received the oracle. But like every previous one, the keel could only tell him an approximate direction.
"It's really tiring to judge the living, no wonder the immortals like to go directly to the underworld to extract it." The white dragon complained.
Xuanzang said: "At least he admits that the location is real, not a fantasy that happened in his head." β
"Hey, you really believe the words of a madman. Are you going to really go there and explore it next? β
"Of course not, it's in the midst of a critical infrastructure period, and going out without special necessity isn't being considered for the time being. If you put this news in your memory, you may be able to use it later. β
"So what are you going to do with these neuropathies? We can't just keep it going. Let's just turn them into workers. Bailong said, glanced at Xuanzang, and deliberately looked at the sky, and said in a very innocent tone, "Oh, I forgot, you definitely won't let yourself become another slave owner." Sin, sin. β
"I didn't do that because their level of intelligence and mental state were not suitable for the workforce. If you have been trained, you can also serve as a guard for this stronghold. β
Seeing the other party looking at him meaningfully, Bai Long immediately refused: "Forget it, I will never give psychological counseling to a group of lewd men." If the training object is a glass girl, it is worth considering. Hey, hey, hey......"
Why do you smile like that! Xuanzang and Wukong glanced at each other and felt a chill.
However, Bai Long was right, he had to decide on the disposition of these people as soon as possible. With so many people living in the steel mill and consuming a lot of food every day, they had only two options: either to shrink the population or to find a stable source of food.
There is no suitable area for growing food in the vicinity of Shepan Mountain, and fanatics generally rely on roadblocks and robberies to obtain food.
Obviously, this is not a stable route, so they also take on the business of making bullets and other businesses, exchanging food with nearby gangs. When they had a surplus of property, they were willing to buy food formally from armed caravans, which were usually more well-stocked.
Xuanzang had no better way, so he could only follow their old path first. It happened that Tianpeng told him that although electronic waste can be remade into some of the components used in drones, most of them still need to be made of regular products.
So they decided to go to the town of Gogo to trade, after all, this is a free market that everyone is familiar with.
"Huh? Why can't I go! Bai Long said, "I don't want to stay here to take care of these people, I want to go shopping!" β
Xuanzang said: "The two strongest combat forces can't both leave the stronghold. Don't think we're out there to play, it's very risky to go separate now. β
"Oh well. You'd better settle down with those lunatics, I'm not as patient as you are. She reluctantly agreed.
Jing Liuli looked at the canopy and pointed to the self-propelled cannon in his hand.
"Okay Miss Ruri, I'll try to find a replacement component." Canopy said, and sat in the driver's seat.
