Sixth Sulla: Ancient Memory
When viewed from the air, Namibi's ocean is a pale green, like a crystal clear emerald. Sometimes guests from the outside world mistakenly think that it is a boundless grassland.
So vast, so vast. The indigenous people of Namibi have never had the opportunity to explore the full mysteries of this ocean. Their shoddy rafts or flat-bottomed boats could not withstand the waves and storms of the distant oceans, and their skill in astronomy and mechanical engineering was not sufficient to support their ability to invent precise positioning and not lose their way in the mighty oceans.
Atas didn't come to this world for long, but they quickly defeated the few primitive nations here. These outsiders have magical ships that can sail the astral plane and magic carpets that can fly in the sky, but they are limited in number, and they are unfamiliar with the sea, and they are also unable to explore the uncharted.
Far from the main fishing grounds and shipping routes, there are many reefs dotted like broken necklaces. Marine life clings to these reefs, giving them a vibrant hue of colour, ranging from evocative purple to bright blue to kitsch yellow.
Some of the reefs emerge from the water, suddenly losing their multicolored coats, revealing their cores wrapped in marine life. It was a huge skeleton, standing up to the sky and the earth, like rows of rickety giants. Some of the bones had been broken, and weeds had stubbornly grown in the cross-section. In some places, the skeletons are relatively well preserved, and huge ribs that break through the water are put together in mid-air. Although the ancient creatures are long gone, the chest that remains behind is still amazing. A creature of such a size, even if it is fed by the entire planet's biosphere. There are only a few at most.
In the middle of the turquoise sea, next to the necklace outlined by reefs and reefs. There's a blue spot that is the Psychic Warlock's destination.
It reminds Muhadi of the Great Blue Hole on Earth. But much bigger. Like its smaller counterparts on Earth, the water suddenly changes color here, becoming a very deep, very dull deep blue. In the middle of the endless sea, this deep blue hole looks like an eye on the surface of the sea.
The depth of the water is the main reason for the color change, and this blue spot looks so deep and so quiet that it seems to make the hearts of ordinary people fearful, not knowing what inexplicable existence lurks in the dark depths of the sea.
The Psychic Warlock walks out of the portal. Beneath his feet was the slippery surface of the reef, and the moisture-filled sea breeze blew across his cheeks. Muhadi erupted into a violent cough and had to bend down, blurring everything in front of him. He felt a weakness in his limbs, and even his internal organs seemed to be tangled together.
The cancer was growing much faster than Muhadi had expected, and the diseased body became more and more dilapidated, as if it could hardly support the weight of the mind.
A hand pressed against his shoulder, and after a moment the psychic felt the discomfort subside somewhat, and he struggled to stand up straight. "I'm fine. ”
"Rejecting the truth is the first reaction of ordinary people in the face of upheaval. Sadiri said. He took his hand back. "I believe this is your psychic man's own theory. ”
"That's right. Muhati smelled rust in his mouth. "But don't the mages often say that the will is better than the body, and the inconvenience caused by my body is negligible. ”
"If you don't want to give up this body, you can choose to be healed by magic. ”
"Unfortunately, that's not an acceptable option for me. The Psychic Warlock said, feeling his body regain some strength. "It doesn't matter. When I have settled the division among the believers, I will naturally have a better body...... Now, let's focus on the task at hand. ”
"Are you really sure...... The mastermind of the polyid coral is in this big blue spot?"
"Unless there are two species on this planet that grow on the bottom of the sea. Psionic creatures that can create sea monsters. Of course I'm sure. Muhathir said. "We went to the bottom of the ocean. Then negotiate with them. ”
"My gut tells me to go on an adventure with you. Nothing will go so smoothly. Coral Witch said half-jokingly.
"With you on our side, we can deal with any risks. The Psychic replied with a shrug. "Besides, if everything goes well, what kind of adventure is it?"
"Some people take risks, and there really aren't any unexpected adventures. And for some people, if they go on an adventure, even if they have a glass of wine in a tavern, they can meet the messenger of the return of the old gods, or go to the nameless ruins to pick up the fate tablet engraved with the future of the gods. Sadiri affirmed. "You belong to the latter group. ”
"You're exaggerating, how can there be a fool who hides such a precious thing in a random ruin. The Psychic Warlock took a deep breath. "Are you ready?"
"You're all right, I'm all right. ”
The Psychic Warlock walked to the edge of the reef, then focused on himself, and leaped out.
The water was colder than he had imagined, but perhaps he was too familiar with the heat on Attas. The bottom of the water is pitch black and unfathomable.
There are fish in the water, not the terrifying predators created by the Starch Spencer Druids, nor the sea monsters that suddenly appear and wreak havoc on Namibi. Rather, there are a lot of small fish with slender bodies and blue scales. Schools of fish gather together to swim and eat together, maintaining a wonderful synchronicity. Sometimes schools of fish seem to have spotted food-rich waters and swim in circles, as if a hurricane is blowing under the surface of the sea.
The uneven edges of the reef are filled with brightly coloured anemones or sea urchins, and the large and small caves are perfect habitats for fish. Some of the creatures that look like magnified electric eels inhabit the caves in the underwater part of the reef. They only show snake-like heads, and their long bodies are mostly hidden in their burrows. When a prey approaches, it will suddenly burst out and drag the unfortunate victim back to his burrow to eat.
Frightened, the fish suddenly turned en masse and swam off into the distance. The Coral Witch used a spell to create a cavity around herself, which could easily be suspended in the water, and looked much more elegant than Muhadi's technique.
As the depth decreases, the temperature of the sea gradually decreases. The surroundings were getting darker and darker. By the time I dived 500 feet below the surface, the sunlight had completely disappeared. The Psychic Warlock looked at Satili with some concern. In this environment, the strength of female mages will be greatly limited. But the latter gave him a relaxed smile in the blister, signaling that he was fine.
There is no sunlight though. However, it is not dark at this depth, and some deep-sea organisms have biological light sources on their surfaces as a means of courtship or bait for predation. The stars are dotted and look very weird.
The thinking of deep-sea creatures is relatively simple, and some are worse than ordinary animals, and it is almost impossible to detect their existence by thinking fluctuations. The stratification of the sea due to the different water temperature and salinity makes it difficult for the dive psychic to detect the movements of sea creatures through sound and vibration.
It wasn't until the raging waters hit him that al-Muhadi realized that two huge sea monsters had almost touched his side. The two behemoths in the darkness couldn't see clearly, but the dappled light on their surfaces shone brightly. It's daunting.
The Psychic Warlock was shaken by the current, and then he concentrated his mind to create an ultrasound wave of extremely high frequency. On Earth, scholars can use similar ultrasound to drive away whales or schools of fish, and it should be just as effective here.
Sure enough, the two sea monsters were attacked by ultrasonic waves and were immediately frightened away.
"You look like you're taken aback. "I heard the coral witch's pleasant voice. "But before I could cast the spell, you screamed and scared them away. ”
"I'm not afraid," Muhadi said, diving. While joking with the ability to communicate. "I'm responding to their courtship calls. ”
"I see, being frightened during courtship is indeed the behavior that most stimulates the anger of wild animals. ”
"It's not just wild animals, I'm talking about people as well. The Psychic Warlock responded.
"Is this what you've learned? or is it experience?"
Muhathir thought for a moment. "No comment. ”
From the depths of the ocean came a light that shouldn't have appeared. At first, it was just a cloudy patch, but gradually it spread, as if it was early in the morning. The horizon is the same before the sun rises. Then, the brightness of that light began to increase. It became the color of the sky on a cloudy day.
The Psychic Warlock began to feel a powerful thought fluctuation coming from below, a wave he had never experienced before. Unlike humans, elves, Muerr, or other humanoids. It is also completely different from the Batez devil in the Nine Prisons of Bato or the divine attendant on the Seven Heavens Mountain, but the specific difference is there, and Muhathir can't tell it for a while.
The water was about 2,000 feet deep, and although it was impossible to see or hear, the telemagician could sense that countless sea monsters had surrounded him and Satili in all directions. They hide in the dark depths of the sea, in the winding and bottomless trenches, and in the soft mud of the seabed that no one has ever set foot on and has never seen.
The only light came from a mass of indescribable biological structures, so huge that if it were completely above the water, it would be as huge as a hill. It looks like a brain that is a million times magnified, and countless hydra corals are the cells of this giant brain. The thick false roots hold the giant brain firmly to the cornerstone of the seabed, and the polyid corals that make up the brain sometimes glow and sometimes dim, making the surface of this mountain-like giant flash countless abstract shapes, like lightning skimming the night sky.
“...... Never before in the history of mages has anyone ever found such a huge creature that exists completely without relying on magic. Sadiri commented, as if she had discovered something unusual. "It's unbelievable, I don't know anything about it. ”
"It's probably never aware that there was such a thing as magic, and the multiverse must be a much simpler existence for it than we see it. Mohathir said. "But I felt the psychic power coming out of it, very powerful, very different, I had never seen anything like it. ”
"Are you sure you can handle it?"
"Not sure, but I'm sure you have a way to remedy it, magic can do anything, isn't it?" said the Psychic Warlock.
"Your missionaries likewise claim that the first cause is omnipotent. But as its messenger, you don't just feel uncertain. Even a solar mage, a user of magical skills, can't handle all situations. The Coral Witch said to Muhati in her blister.
"It's okay, I guess I'll just try my luck. Muhathir said. Then, he swam ahead.
The giant brain composed of countless polyps and corals became bigger and bigger in front of him. Until all the details were in plain sight in front of him. Individual hydra corals occasionally emit nerve currents, but it is unclear whether this is due to self-defense or communication. So many polyp corals come together. The emitted currents are powerful and unpredictable, almost comparable to their ever-changing luminous patterns.
The Psychic Warlock reached out and smoothed out all the cluttered thoughts in his mind until he was completely calm, and then he touched the other man's mind.
The momentary impact made him almost lose control of his body, his heartbeat immediately became disordered, the secretion of various hormones was crazy, and the hysterical swing of his hands and feet was like the last struggle of a drowning person before he died.
Too much information flowed into Muhadi's mind at once. Almost overwhelmed his own will. So vast, so profound, that in an instant, these words seemed to take on a whole new meaning.
He rippled across the planet's oceans, warm waters flowing past him, and his tentacles could feel the slightest current. Brightly colored fish that cannot be called are hunted around and cleanse themselves of parasites and insects attached to their bodies. The world is huge and small, with billions of people of the same kind merely linked together, not separated from each other.
He saw so many scenes at the same time. From the bottomless trenches in the center of the Amber Ocean to the still boiling and roaring submarine volcanoes in the center of the Green Sea. He watched as hundreds of millions of schools of fish swam through the shallow turquoise sea, mating, and sowing seeds 10,000 times larger than his own. He saw black chimneys deep under the sea. Unknown sea monsters inhabit the water's edge under high pressure, underwater forests of thousands of feet of kelp, and giant fishing boats with long fishing nets on the sea.
The human brain cannot withstand the eyes that see the whole world. The torrent of information almost ruined Muhadi's sanity. But he gritted his teeth and persevered, using all his willpower. Focus on the part you want to observe.
This is almost equivalent to a person's confrontation with the hydroids of the entire planet in psionic energy, a little lax. The psychic warlock will be completely lost in the vast sea of consciousness of the other party.
In the blink of an eye, time seems to be stretched as long as a hundred years, and Muhathir seems to have clearly spent every minute and every second of this hundred years. Of the 3,155,760,000 seconds of an imaginary one, one second of negligence is fatal.
But in the end, it was the polyp coral that flinched, and the tide of alien thinking receded, as if giving up the plan to swallow the unknown foreign object, and Muhadi did not let his will show a trace of weakness after all. In all corners of the world, in the depths of the ocean floor, many otherwise healthy polyp corals withered in an instant.
The Psychic Warlock's original plan was to negotiate with the Hydra Corals to get them to give up creating sea monsters and colonists hostile. It would be nice to find out how they made those sea monsters by the way. But when he really entered the collective consciousness of the hydra coral, he realized that his original plan might have changed.
The collective consciousness of the entire planet's polyids and corals reacted unresponsive to all the inquiries sent by Muhadi, as if they were completely unable to comprehend the message sent by the alien. The Psychic Warlock thought for a moment, thinking that it might be because these things had no concept of negotiation and conversation at all.
If you think about it, these things have lived in the depths of the ocean for hundreds of millions of years, forming a huge collective consciousness with each other, and there is no point in negotiating existence. No sapient beings on this planet have ever tried to talk to them with psychic abilities, and they are unaware that there are other sapient species besides themselves.
Now, the polyp corals seem to see the invading Muhati as a strange congeny, with a sense of communication with each other, but no effective communication at all.
If you can't negotiate, force these polyids to obey your will. The Psychic thought so, and then focused, giving a deep hint of the collective consciousness.
This hint contradicts the instinct of the hydra coral, and the collective consciousness that had already retreated once again unites violently to confront the alien of the Psychic Warlock.
This time, the victory came much easier than the last time. Muhathir has learned how to concentrate and not be overwhelmed by the sea of information. Little by little, he distorted this collective consciousness that spread across the planet.
But this is not strong enough, and there is a limit to the time limit of the effect of deep suggestion. If we want to put an end to the struggle between these hydra corals and the colonists, we must resolve the source of the dispute. When he returned, he had to convince the locals not to eat any more of them, and Mohathir thought to himself that the world's most famous dish was destined to be one less.
After solving the main problem of the trip, the Psychic Warlock begins to explore his second goal, discovering the secret of how these things create sea monsters.
Polyp corals have a very different perception of time than humans, and a second they feel may be richer than a century of human perception, but there are also centuries of dull years that are fleeting to them like the blink of an eye. Their memory structure is also very different from that of humanoids, which makes Muhadi extremely slow to search.
The Psychic Warlock scans through the billions of years of memories of the collective consciousness, trying to find the part of how they created the Kraken. Eventually, he found a clue in the intricate stacking of memories, one of the oldest and oldest memories of hydra corals, which seemed to have something to do with their ability to modify marine life.
Muhadi's consciousness crept into this part of the memory and began to read.
A more ferocious and powerful attack than the previous impact of consciousness suddenly appeared, crushing the will of the Psychic Warlock and smoothing out all his thoughts of resistance.
So helpless, so small, in Muhadi's experience, there was a similar feeling only in the face of the famous and wise men.
Inexplicable, insane, the proportions of the body change from moment to moment, and the strange shadow of complete defiance of the rules of physics appears in these memories.
For a moment, the psychic warlock realized what a mistake he had made, the existence of Hydra Coral was so ancient, far older than the Athas, or any race in the multiverse, any false god. The fact that they are so old suggests that they have experienced the inexplicable existence of the inexplicable old beings who served by the wise men of all worlds, and probably more than once.
Did the hydra corals learn a little bit of fur from the old ones and use them to transform the sea monsters? But the faint memories that the Old Rulers left on these creatures eons ago were more than all the training and will of the Psychic Warlocks.
All of these thoughts flowed through the mindman's mind the moment he read those ancient memories, and he fell into a deep coma. (To be continued.) )
