Chapter 504: The Buddhist Scriptures Reappear
In an extremely uncomfortable state, Lin Xuan could barely restrain the hot current tumbling in his internal organs and control his emotions. World War II brought devastating disasters to mankind, but fortunately, with the support of the mainstays of China, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Russia, the plan of the Axis of Evil was finally shattered and world peace was safeguarded.
"Everything will always be reborn after a catastrophe." A voice rang in Lin Xuan's ears.
He snapped and turned back, but the sound faded out of the air.
"Someone must be there!" Lin Xuan looked ten steps away to the right. He could feel that a few seconds ago, there must have been a person standing there with a living force, because he could even feel the air maintaining a certain temperature due to the man's presence.
"Who's there? Who the hell is there? Why bother with it? Lin Xuan asked quietly.
The voice was somewhat familiar, from a Chinese man in his mid-fifties.
Lin Xuan was confused for a moment, because the voice reminded him of his father.
"Father, is that you?" He took a few steps forward and muttered into the endless void.
The void is silent, and his question is only a heavenly question, and no one can answer it.
Suddenly, a cold and terrible eagle chirp sounded in the air.
Lin Xuan looked up and saw that the iron-backed goshawk that had been blue-gray was breaking through the air and stopped on the arm of a Buddha statue closest to his right.
The eagle is very large, and the wingspan is only more than ten meters, which is rare in ordinary times.
The Buddha statue was hunched on its back, its head bowed downward, its features distorted, and its face full of bitterness. But the goshawk is high-spirited and majestic, and it doesn't seem to take the Buddha statue in his eyes at all.
This situation seemed familiar, Lin Xuan searched in his memory, and instantly figured it out: "It turned out to be the 'Cutting Meat and Feeding the Eagle Picture' on the Buddhist scriptures." ”
There are two versions of the story of cutting meat to feed eagles, one of which is the legend of feeding eagles with their flesh instead of pigeons.
According to the first volume of the Bodhisattva's Treatise on Birth, in the past life, there was a corpse of the king in Yan Futi, who practiced compassion and loved the people like a son, and one day saw a pigeon chased by an eagle, and the king took pity on him, so he cut off his own flesh and fed it to the eagle to save the pigeon's life. Among them, the dove was transformed by the god of fire, and the eagle was transformed by the emperor to test the compassion of the corpse king. The same is true of the Sutra of Wisdom and Foolishness, Volume 1, the Sutra of the Six Degrees of Wisdom, Volume 12, and the Treatise on Great Wisdom, Volume 4, except that the Sutra of the Six Degrees says that the king's name is Saheda.
The second is the legend of "gouging out the eyes and giving the vulture": according to the fourth volume of the "Compilation of the Hundred Yuan Sutra", in the past life, the king of the country was named and corpsed, and he was always kind to give and did not hesitate. In order to test the king's kindness, Shakti turned into a great vulture and flew to the king to ask for the king's eyes. When the king heard of the vulture's wish, he rejoiced greatly, and took a sharp sword in his hand, and gouged out his own eyes and gave it to the vulture, fearless of pain, and without remorse. The Pali Sutra of Bunsen, the Sanskrit Sutra of Bunsen, and the Sutra of Parables of the Bodhisattva also deal with the causes of the eyes, but the beggar is not a vulture, but a Rasmin, who was transformed by Shakti.
This Bunsen story is widely circulated, and it can be seen in ancient India, and it is also the most famous of the various Bunsen stories of the Buddha. Fa Xian's "Buddha's Record" records that Suha has its relics in many countries, and the tower built here is one of the four major towers in India. The location of the relics recorded in the second volume of the "Records of the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty" is consistent with that contained in the "Records of the Buddha Kingdom", which is about northeast of Gandhara.
Whether it is "cutting meat to feed the eagle" or "gouging out the eyes and giving the vulture", it embodies the fearlessness and great dedication of the corpse king. Only by giving up oneself in this way and turning oneself to the Buddha can one attain positive results and enter the realm of true Buddhahood.
Any practitioner who is devout to the Buddha, once he finally reaches the spiritual realm of the corpse king, will immediately break away from the stupidity of ordinary people** and reach the daytime ascension of the soul.
The "Mystery of Rainbowization" in the "Ten Unsolvable Mysteries of Tibet" describes such a magical phenomenon. Moreover, the hundred-year-old cultivators who can achieve "rainbow transformation" are all out-of-the-world masters who have broken through the cycle of life and death and comprehended the true meaning of life.
For those predecessors who "dare to be the first in the world and dare to sacrifice themselves for the people of the world", Lin Xuan has always admired them incomparably. It's a pity that this kind of person is becoming less and less rare in the real world, even the world's No. 1 ranger like Mr. Wei can't enter the realm of "rainbow", and can only act chivalrous in the red world.
At the end of the story, the king of the corpse climbed onto the weighing pan, and in an instant the two ends were balanced, and the pigeon was finally saved.
At this time, the heavens and the earth shook, the sea raised waves, the dead trees bloomed with beautiful flowers, and the sky rained perfume rain and fragrant petals. When the gods and goddesses witnessed this scene of sacrificing their lives to save their lives, they all chanted together: "If you are a true bodhisattva, you will become a Buddha as soon as possible." ”
At this time, the Great Eagle restored his original appearance as the Emperor Shakti, stood in front of the Corpse King, and said, "You have done such a precious thing today, what do you want?" ”
The corpse king replied, "I have my heart to save all sentient beings, and I do not seek honor and happiness, but I only want to attain enlightenment and become a Buddha as soon as possible." ”
Emperor Shakti asked, "Didn't you have the slightest remorse for cutting your muscles and flesh and hurting your bone marrow just now?" ”
The king replied, "No." ”
Shakti asked, "I saw that your body was trembling and your breath was about to be exhausted, but you said that you never regretted it, what proof is there for this?" ”
The king replied, "I have not had any remorse in my heart from beginning to end; If what I'm saying is true, I'll be at peace in no time! As soon as he finished speaking, the body of the corpse king really immediately returned to its original appearance, and he truly fulfilled his great compassion to save all sentient beings.
At this moment, everyone celebrates together, rejoices, recites good deeds, and sighs that there has never been.
The Buddhist scriptures say: If he becomes a Buddha, he will be subjected to a thousand tests, tortures, and tribulations, and the four major will be empty.
As the saying goes, there is no such thing as a free lunch, and pie will not fall from the sky.
Ordinary practitioners don't have the perseverance to carry out good deeds, so they don't end up seeing the greatness of the Dharma like the corpse king.
As a result, the practice of such people has become an extremely embarrassing thing, knowing that the last battle will be empty, but they have to continue their lives, recite scriptures, and desire miracles to happen.
Lin Xuan has traveled all over the Tibetan temples and seen more than tens of thousands of monks, most of whom are of ordinary qualifications, even if they recite the scriptures sincerely throughout their lives, they are just old and die in the ancient temples in the snowy region, and they cannot get a glimpse of the highest wisdom of Buddhism.
At this moment, he didn't understand why he saw the scene of "cutting meat and feeding the eagle": "Could it be that the Buddhas are about to appear?" ”
He hesitated instantly, and couldn't tell whether the eagle was real and the Buddha statue was fake? Or is the Buddha statue real and the eagle real? Or are the eagles and Buddha statues real, and all the gods and Buddhas in this hall are just in the silent rest stage?
He looked at the back of the Buddha statue and felt that the body of the Buddha statue had moved, and he was cutting the flesh and weighing it to feed the goshawk.
"Has the Buddha statue been apparitioned?" Lin Xuan looked to the ground, and a shocking pool of blood appeared on the originally clean bluestone slab ground. The blood flowed slowly along the cracks of the stone slab, gradually turning into an abstract and meaningful picture.
Suddenly, a colorful tiger roared in from a distance, and when it reached the nearest Buddha statue on Lin Xuan's left, it suddenly pounced and put its claws on the shoulders of the Buddha statue.
The fishy wind brought by the tiger forced Lin Xuan to breathe, and he barely stood up straight, staring at the tiger and the Buddha statue.
In the Buddhist scriptures, there is a story of "sacrificing one's life to feed the tiger", the original text is: When the prince was brave and brave, he increased his heart with his compassion. Considering that the two brothers are in trouble together, please return to the palace first, and I will come later. At that time, the prince Mahasattva entered the bamboo forest, went to the tiger's place, took off his clothes, put it on the bamboo branch, and lay down in front of the tiger. The Bodhisattva is forbearing, and the tiger is powerless. That is, to go up to the mountains and devote yourself to the earth. The tiger is weak and can't eat me, that is, he uses dry bamboo, stabbing his neck and bleeding. At that time, the earth shook in six ways, like wind and water, and there was no rest. There is no shrewdness in the day, such as Luo Hou obstacles. The rain and the wonderful fragrance are colorful and chaotic, and they are all over the forest. The Void Heavens, Salty praises. At that time, the hungry tiger licked the neck and ate all the blood, leaving only the remaining bones. The second prince was very sad and miserable, and he went to the tiger house together, and he couldn't hold himself up. Throw yourself into the bones, and you will be Jesus for a long time. Crying and chagrin, he gradually gave up.
In the story, Prince Mahasattva, who sacrificed his life to feed the tiger, threw himself into the heaven of Tushi after his death. At that time, he was still a little skeptical, and he didn't know what merit he had done to be reborn in the beautiful heavenly realm. He was bewildered by the good fruit in front of him, so he used his heavenly eye to explore the five worlds of hell, hungry ghosts, beasts, Shura, and human beings, only to find that the remains of his previous life's charity were scattered in a mountain forest, while his parents and brothers were clinging to the corpses, in pain.
Prince Mahasattva immediately left the heavenly realm, stood in the air, and exhorted and admonished his parents in every way: "I am Mahasattva, and I gave my body to the hungry tiger not long ago. Because of this merit, we can now be reborn in Tushi Heaven. Father! There is life and death, this is the normal situation of the world. Whoever does evil will go to hell, and whoever does good deeds will be born in the heavenly realm. Why are you still so immersed in sorrow and trouble, but you are not able to become enlightened? Why don't you lament and don't practice all kinds of good deeds?"
When the king and queen heard this, they restrained their grief and ordered their envoys to sort out the remains of the prince, burn them for cremation, and build a tall relic. From then on, kings, queens, and subjects at home often worshipped for support.
Prince Mahasattva took pity on the hungry tiger who had just given birth to a cub, so he fed it with his body, and it was precisely because he had in his heart the principle of "all living beings in the world are equal" that he would make such a shocking feat, so he broke through the barrier and became a Buddha in an instant.
There is such a record in the Buddhist scriptures: The Buddha said to Ananda, "The Great Brave Prince of the Past Life, Isn't it someone else?" That's me in today's lecture room. The king of the past world is the king of my father, the king of pure rice. The queen is now my mother, Lady Maya. The eldest prince is Maitreya Bodhisattva. The second prince is Manjushri. At that time, the hungry tiger was now my aunt Bojapoti. The seven little tigers are the five bhikshus of today's disciples, such as Mulian, Sariputta, and Jiaochenru. All fates and laws have coincidences; The beginning and the turn, each according to the context.
"Where is the courage of modern people? Just running in a hurry for petty profits, who has the perseverance to save the world? Lin Xuan shook his head and sighed.
Social progress, but people's hearts have retreated, which is why today's social values are distorted and chaotic.
When Lin Xuan recalled the story of "sacrificing his body to feed the tiger", the rushing tiger really slammed into the Buddha statue and swallowed half of the Buddha statue in an instant.
