His Holiness the Gyalpa; The seventeenth of the eighteen Arhats, the 'Venerable Jiaye', was appointed by Emperor Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty. According to the Dharma-dwelling Record, the above sixteen arhats are the sixteen great disciples of the Buddha, and the Buddha ordered them to reside in the human world to purify all sentient beings.
Another theory is that the seventeenth arhat was the author of the Dharma Residence, 'Venerable Qingyou'.
Legend has it that in ancient India, there was a dragon king who flooded the country and hid the Buddhist scriptures in the dragon palace. Later, the Dragon Venerable surrendered to the Dragon King to retrieve the Buddhist scriptures and made great contributions, so he was called the 'Dragon Venerable'.
His Holiness Maitreya; Tiger Arhat
In the field of Chinese Buddhism, the highest Buddha is Shakyamuni Buddha's seat under the eighteen arhats. And the Fuhu Arhat is the eighteenth of the eighteen Arhats, that is, the 'Venerable Maitreya'.
Legend has it that outside the temple where the Venerable Fuhu lived, there were often tigers who roared because of hunger, and the Venerable Fuhu gave his own food to the tiger, and after a long time, the tiger was subdued by him, and often played with him, so he was also called 'Fuhu Arhat'.
Listen to the old monk talk about the eighteen Arhats' attainment deeds. Zhou Tianyi still didn't understand what the eighteen Arhats on the first layer meant, so he finally had to look at the coffin in the middle!
Aren't all the monks cremated after their death?
How can there be a coffin here, observing the surrounding gods, the golden statues of the eighteen Arhats, occupying eighteen directions and surrounding the coffin in the middle, as if sealing the contents of this coffin!
When a few people approached the coffin, they felt a strange aura emanating from the coffin, and it seemed that someone from the Demon Sect was lying in this coffin!
"Senior, what do the statues of the Eighteen Arhats and this coffin mean?" Zhou Tianyi questioned, although he is smart, he doesn't know much about Buddhism, and this Buddhist monk should know the reason for this.
The old monk looked at the eighteen golden-bodied Buddha statues and said, "These eighteen arhats are the disciples of the Buddha who sat down, and they are not inferior in the Buddhist gate, only below the Bodhisattva, I think this should be arranged according to the rank of the Buddha's disciples!" Placed in this coffin, it is rare in Buddhism, from the breath emanating from the coffin, it is inferred that the person lying inside should be a person from the demon sect, and the golden Buddha statue of the eighteen Arhats should be used to shake the evil demons inside the coffin! ”
Zhou Tianyi nodded...
"God stick, should we open it up and take a look!" Dong Tinghua said.
"We're here to find the soul of Zhan Tian, it doesn't matter to us whether we open this coffin or not, I mean it's better not to open it, so as not to cause any unnecessary trouble!" Zhou Tianyi said.
"Open it and take a look, I'm sure there's any treasure inside!" Dong Tinghua said.
"Huazi, don't open it, we're here to find the soul of Zhantian, not to find the treasure, besides, this is the Buddha's relict pagoda, what treasure do you think the coffin in here can hide? Forget it, hurry up and find the soul of Zhantian, this is the most important thing! Dong Tinghua said.
Dong Tinghua looked at the two of them helplessly, so he had to give up!
The old monk looked at the coffin reluctantly and did not speak!
Zhou Tianyi looked around the first floor of the Relic Pagoda, where there was nothing important except for a curious coffin, and at the westernmost end was the staircase downstairs!
The four of them cautiously walked to the second floor and went down the stairs to the second floor!
The four of them carefully observed the surroundings, the second floor of the building was very different from the first floor, it was full of walls painted with white lime, and there were four Buddha statues on each side, one of them Zhou Tianyi, Miao Weiqiang, Dong Tinghua could recognize it, but the other three didn't know that it was the three gods!
"Divine stick, this is Guanyin Bodhisattva, who are the other three?" Dong Tinghua asked.
"Don't ask me about this, I'm a Taoist disciple, and I don't know a lot about Buddhism, as for this question, you still ask this senior!" Zhou Tianyi said, ashamed, when he was looking for the relics pagoda again, he also made up for Buddhism, but when he saw these Buddha statues, he was completely confused, and he couldn't understand it at all!
The old monk smiled, looked at the four Buddha statues, folded his hands and chanted a Buddha horn and said: "These four Buddha statues are the Great Compassion Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Great Wisdom Manjushri Bodhisattva, the Great Wish Jizo Bodhisattva, and the Great Xing Puxian Bodhisattva. ”
Manjushri represents wisdom and wisdom, and Manjushri is also known as Manjushri, Manjushri, and the Prince of Dharma. Manjushri Bodhisattva and Puxian Bodhisattva are both Shakyamuni Buddha's left and right attendants, known as the "Three Sages of Huayan", also called the Great Wisdom Bodhisattva.
Manjushri takes great wisdom as his wish, and the sutra is in the clouds: the heart is the precept, and the precept is determined, and the wisdom is born from the precept. Manjushri, on the other hand, uses the method of purification as the method of meditation. Manjushri teaches us to have selfless thoughts, to put the interests of the common people first, and to be pure and untainted in order to benefit others, so that we can attain the great wisdom and concentration of samadhi.
Guanyin Bodhisattva represents great compassion, and Guanyin Bodhisattva is also known as Guanyin Bodhisattva, Guanyin Bodhisattva and other names. With the manifestation of great compassion and the uprooting of all sentient suffering, we will follow the sound to help the suffering without stopping. Guanyin Bodhisattva is the first Bodhisattva of the Western Elysium, also known as the Bodhisattva of Great Compassion.
Avalokiteshvara takes great compassion as its original wish and aims to save suffering. The scripture says: To save all the ends, Guanyin is the most. Compassion is the removal of the suffering of sentient beings. Of course, we must give happiness to all living beings in order to be free from suffering. Therefore, the Bodhisattva taught us to have the spirit of loving the world, and that we should try to help as much as possible when there is suffering, and that is the reason why Guanyin Bodhisattva has made the most efforts to save our time.
Fuxian Bodhisattva on behalf of the Bodhisattva vows, Fuxian Bodhisattva is also known as Sammando Bhadra, which means that there is a full and immeasurable vow, manifested in all the Buddhas, also called the Great Bodhisattva.
The Bodhisattva takes the ten vows as the original wish, from one to worship the Buddhas to the ten universal dedication. All reflect the Bodhisattva's desire to save all sentient beings, and it is even more incredible that the Bodhisattva has no retreat. It is not difficult to do good deeds for a while, benefit sentient beings, and practice, but it is difficult to do good deeds for a lifetime, benefit sentient beings, and practice, and Fuxian Bodhisattva guides us to do it without fatigue, which is the characteristic of Fuxian Bodhisattva.
A symbol of the great vow of the Jizo Bodhisattva, the Jizo Bodhisattva is also known as the Jizo King Bodhisattva. Because of the sad wish to hold on to "hell is not empty, vow not to become a Buddha", so Buddhists often call it the Great Wish Jizo King Bodhisattva, also called the Great Wish Bodhisattva.
The Jizo Bodhisattva is covered between yin and yang, leaving the dark suffering in the yin and the netherworld, and the suffering in the world in the yang breadth. And if you make a wish to live all sentient beings and then become a Buddha, you can see that there is no end to the wishes of all sentient beings. The great wish of the Jizo Bodhisattva is to witness the great suffering of the underworld and urge us to do our best in our lives, not to create evil, to get rid of the suffering of reincarnation in the sea of suffering, and to attain nirvana-like happiness.
