03 - Tragic New World

Tsushima Island, an island disputed by Japan and South Korea, has always had jurisdiction over Japan in the original world, and of course this world is still under the jurisdiction of Japan. Although the Korean people have been claiming that Tsushima Island belongs to South Korea, even the South Korean government has not taken it seriously, but in the eyes of the Korean people, isn't the God all Koreans, the South Korean government really doesn't take it seriously, or is embarrassed to take it seriously is another way of saying, but the so-called territorial issue has never been sacred, and this kind of competition for living space is imprinted in the DNA of human beings like the instinct of human beasts.

I've been to Tsushima Island before, and Tsushima doesn't have a large population, because it's close to the sea, so the water vapor is abundant and plants grow luxuriantly, but after I went ashore this time, I saw the loess of the Tsushima Plain River, and if it wasn't for the comparison of the outline of the island I scanned with the latitude and longitude, I really couldn't confirm that this is Tsushima Island. Because Tsushima Island should be a mountainous environment, how can there be such a flat river?

When I climbed Tsushima Island, which was full of craters and some destroyed weapons, I could see a flat river and a piece of loess as far as the eye could see. In the distance, there seemed to be some army on guard, and I quietly disappeared, infiltrated the rear, and managed to infiltrate a refugee camp.

It was easy to get into that camp because every day there were boats coming ashore to bring in some refugees, some of them in good condition, but some of them were just wooden fishing boats with engines like the one I rescued me. I easily blended in with the refugees, and no one checked them

What kind of refugee camp is this? A bunch of dilapidated sheds are built in it irregularly, although there are some simple public sanitary places, but they cannot meet the needs of everyone, and the state of public health is simply extremely poor, just like the slums of my original third brother in time and space. Fortunately, it's almost summer, otherwise, the cold protection of these people alone is a big problem. What's even more excessive is that there are basically no able-bodied adults in this private camp, and there are no elderly people, mainly disabled adults plus some children. The army brought them some synthetic food every day, such as compressed biscuits and spam, and there was never fresh food, although the refugees would go out every day to try to pick up some seafood from the beach, and then use the seafood to exchange it for some supplies from the soldiers, but basically they had no harvest. However, if they were lucky enough to get their hands on some seafood, the soldiers would still trade their rations for it.

Although I managed to blend in with a refugee camp, I couldn't fit in, and I tried to communicate with them, but failed. Almost all of the refugees were reluctant to talk to me, and some of them would simply respond with two sentences, but the impatience and contempt in their eyes were conveyed without concealment.

There are two reasons why I can't communicate, one is because my body has not been adjusted well, and the behavior is very grotesque, first of all, I can't touch people with my body, because I can't control my strength, and I often crush things, and secondly, the various sensors are not adjusted well. Therefore, when I talk to people, I subconsciously deviate from my line of sight, and my sense of hearing and smell is also very sensitive. But these problems are not the main thing, I have tried a few times to take the initiative to communicate, and I found that these people are not willing to communicate with themselves at all, because both men and women look at me like they see a weird garbage.

I always thought that they thought I was able-bodied and they were disabled because they were jealous of me, but it wasn't until I came into contact with Xiaoying that I slowly learned why.

Although Xiaoying doesn't know much, I still use Guò Xiaoying's words and my keen hearing to hear some people's conversations as materials, and I pieced together some information and got a preliminary understanding of the world. The people here think I'm a deserter. Evading the duties and responsibilities of being human. Although I saw this situation and guessed that the world should be in a state of large-scale war, I never imagined that the human beings of this world were going through such an unreasonable and tragic war.

【BETA】

【BeingsoftheextraTerrestrialoriginwhichisAdversaryofhumanrace】Well, it's the abbreviation of the bird language of all kinds of pit dads, which is translated into human words as [alien origin creatures hostile to humans]

In 1958, humans discovered the first trace of [BETA] on Mars

In 1967, the Moon was attacked by [BETA], and the Moon War broke out

In 1973, the landing unit of [BETA] was dropped in Kashgar, New Jiauygur Autonomous Region, and from this day on, human beings were like meat on the board, and entered the countdown to destruction. In the same year, mankind announced its renunciation of the moon, and the lunar war ended with the defeat of mankind.

In 1973 alone, humanity lost 30 per cent of its population. And [BETA] spread quickly and firmly across Eurasia.

It is now 1998, the People's Republic of China and the Soviet Union have concentrated the strength of all mankind for more than 30 years in a war of attrition, which finally ended in the defeat of mankind, not only losing almost all of the land of Eurasia, but also losing nearly 80% of the population. There were nearly 6 billion people in the human race, but now there are only about 1.2 billion. In other words, 4 out of 5 people were lost. There will always be a part of the human population that is not suitable for entering the battlefield, such as children and the elderly. As a result, these huge war losses have almost exhausted three generations of the main affected countries. In the past 30 years, countries have lowered the age of conscription again and again, from 18 to 16 years old, and now it has been reduced to 15 years old, and the conscription targets are not divided into men and women, and women over 16 years old who have not yet had children are forcibly conscripted, and I look like I am sixteen or seventeen years old and in the golden age of conscription, so it is very eye-catching to appear in the refugee camp. Although the Americas, Australia, and Africa are the rear areas, the impact of the refugee shock and the nuclear bombing of the United States and Canada in the past 30 years has caused drastic changes in the demographic structure, and there is an extreme shortage of various civilian materials in order to prioritize the production of military industry. The friction between refugees and the original inhabitants has intensified, and human society has entered the brink of collapse.

For example, Xiaoying's grandmother is not yet 40 years old, but she is also a milkmaker. That woman can be regarded as dedicating her life to the human race, whether it is having children or fighting [BETA], she has fulfilled the responsibilities and obligations of a human being, and was injured and disabled when she fought [BETA] 4 years ago. The same goes for her children, although I didn't hear Xiaoying mention her parents, but I can guess that her parents must be in the army, because if they are in the factory, they can take Xiaoying together. I sincerely hope that Xiaoying's parents are still alive.

This is the experience of most people in this camp, only those who are disabled and unable to work wait for the government's arrangement, and the rest of the people who are able to do their jobs are doing their job. In this state, there is no room for human beings to have other ideas, and everyone is trying to live and do their part. So in their eyes, my wandering around this camp is simply a blasphemy against humanity.

The refugees of the United China Front were supposed to be placed in Australia, but some of them still did not board the ship and could only use some of their own rudimentary tools to escape to the Korean Peninsula, but they were not long in the Korean Peninsula because of the failure of the Gwangju operation. And fled here. My estimation that the overturned sailboat was of this nature. Humans ran away and fled and finally couldn't escape [BETA], I don't know if it was better to be buried in the sea or chewed up by [BETA].

Xiaoying often comes to me to bring me some new news, and I also tell her stories and listen to her when she comes to me is when I am the happiest, because after all, human beings are social creatures, and I can't stand it if no one communicates with me. The earth technology in this time and space is more developed than my original one, but because of the long war, it is basically the first military and political government, so the development in other directions is very weak. Especially after [BETA] landed on Earth, the development of culture and art was almost stagnant. It was easy for me to use some stories that Xiaoying had never heard to attract her. Basically she would come to me every day to listen to stories, and I would spend time in my shed when she wasn't coming, at least to outsiders, because I almost never went out, and I didn't get rations for the army. The army stationed on this island is the [East Asian Coalition Army], and there are some Chinese serving in it, and there is a young sergeant who looks to be seventeen or eighteen years old. Wishing I could join their company, told me a bunch of benefits of joining the army, from human righteousness to personal gain. But I was unimpressed and refused. He didn't force it when he refused, because in this desperate world, there is no reason for these GIs to force you to join a battlefield destined to be cannon fodder, and the young sergeant left some rations and left.

One of the advantages of being a soldier is that the rations are much better than the average person. Those refugees who have lost their land and are in refugee camps, unless they have a skill, there is hardly a good way except to join the army, and those production positions are basically done by the original residents of the refugee-receiving countries, of course, it does not mean that the countries in the rear have not sent troops, but the mobilization rate is not as high as in the front. Every human understands that if BETA cannot be defeated, then there is no future for humanity.

After I refused the soldier's offer, my situation became even more awkward, and Xiaoying's grandmother began to interfere with Xiaoying, forbidding her to come to me to listen to the story. Actually, I am not rejecting the obligations of human beings, but mainly because I still have many problems that I have not solved.
