Chapter 6: Monsters in the Mist
The crowd dispersed silently, tacitly not talking about what had just happened. Pen @ fun @ pavilion wWw. ļ½ļ½ļ½Uļ½Eć ļ½ļ½ļ½ļ½
David sat down on the ground wearily and hugged Billy in his lap.
"That's no ordinary fog," Billy said, "That's no ordinary fog ......" and he looked up at me, his eyes swollen with tears.
"Isn't that right, Dad?"
"yes, I guess that's no ordinary fog." David didn't want to lie about that.
The low roar of the generator continued from behind the splint compartment, and David felt that something was not quite right.
Put down his son, reassured,
"Well, wait for me here, Dad is going to check the back." Immediately, he turned and walked towards the warehouse behind the double doors in the beer freezer room.
Entering the warehouse, David smelled a strong smell of diesel smoke, which was getting heavier and heavier. He tried to hold his breath and walked towards the cubicle, but eventually had to unbutton his shirt and cover his mouth and nose with the corner of his shirt.
The warehouse is long and narrow, with only two rows of emergency lights emitting a faint glow.
There are boxes piled up everywhere. On one side is bleach, and there is soda, macaroni and ketchup. A bottle of ketchup shattered, staining the crate with a blood-colored color.
I opened the door to the generator compartment and stepped inside.
David saw the generator shrouded in greasy blue smoke, the exhaust pipe leading through an opening in the wall to the outside.
"Damn, there's got to be something out there blocking the exhaust pipe opening."
Immediately, he found the switch and immediately turned off the generator.
Then the machine let out a coughing and snorting sound, and after a long pause, a series of shrill parts rubbing sounded, and finally stopped completely.
However, at this moment, the rolling shutter door suddenly made a loud clang.
The entire door began to deform slightly inward with a great force.
What is that? Through the faint light of the cracks in the rolling door, David saw a blurred shadow and a sound of a slow slide.
The sound was not coming from inside the store, but from outside the door, from outside, from the fog.
It was the sound of something quietly gliding across the asphalt outside.
Perhaps, it wants to get in.
Davy's face turned pale, and he fled out of the warehouse in disarray, bumping into three or four people in an instant.
"David!"
A staff member with glasses helped him, looked at the other party's somewhat frightened face, and spoke.
"What's going on? Jesus Christ, your face is so bad. ā
"Ollie! I heard something outside the warehouse door! Sliding ...... It's horrible! ā
Just then, a young worker from a supermarket walked over with a bunch of flashlights in his hand.
"Then let's go in and have a look!" A man next to him said. He seems to be called Jim or something, and works at the town's highway office.
"David, I think you're too nervous."
"No, I'm by no means nervous!"
Immediately, several people walked to the dark warehouse, turned on the flashlight and observed.
"Look, nothing, right? David, you should go get some sleep. ā
"Oh, it stinks in here!"
At this point, Ollie and two other men walked into the generator's cubicle. Their flashlights kept shining back and forth.
"Something is blocking the exhaust pipe, and we have to clean it up." The young supermarket worker spoke.
"I'll take a look. Turn on the generator and let me open the unloading door. Then I went around and cleared the clogged exhaust pipe. ā
"Noam, I don't think it's a good idea." Ollie admonished.
"Hey! Don't be so timid, okay? You won't be too much of a horror story! Listen buddy! There's nothing out there! Listen! Not at all! All right? Jim, who was called it, said a little irritably.
He then walked into the generator's cubicle and pressed it with his nose covered.
"I'm going to go! Get ready! ā
Davy looked at everything in front of him, and the uneasiness in his heart grew.
No, it's not like that...... Stop it!
"Stop!"
But no one paid any attention to him, and the disdain and contempt on the faces of the crowd prevented David from continuing to speak.
The unloading roller shutter door creaked up, and the white mist outside was as thick as the volatilization of dry ice.
"Look! Nothing, right!? Noam, the young supermarket worker, had in his voice the contempt of a typical eighteen-year-old and the excitement of provocative others.
"No...... Listen to me! David was about to say something, but was interrupted by Jim on the side.
"Mr. Dryden, I'm sorry, but I don't believe everything you say. I know you're a great painter and you're famous in New York and Hollywood, but that doesn't mean you're great here. As far as I can see, you are inevitably a little ...... because you are alone in this dark place Nervous and nervous. ā
āā¦ā¦ But you're going to put this lad at risk for a generator that doesn't matter at all!? David blushed and roared.
But apparently the young man named Nome did not appreciate it, but yelled angrily,
"Can't you keep your dog mouth shut!?"
"Listen, Mr. Dryden." Jim sneered,
"I'll tell you. If you have anything else to say, I think you'd better count how many teeth you have first, because I'm tired of your ****! ā
However, at this moment, at the edge of the unloading concrete floor, a tentacle protruded from the dense fog and grabbed Noam's calf impartially.
The end of the tentacle was about a foot thick, about the thickness of a python, and the part that tightly wrapped around Noam's calf was even thicker, about four or five feet, and the rest of it was not in the thick fog.
The tentacles are gray at the top, gradually turning skin-colored below, and there are several rows of suckers, constantly twisting and wriggling, like hundreds of small mouths.
David's mouth opened wide in shock. Ollie let out a short exclamation.
"Noam!"
Noam looked down and saw what was entangled in him, and both eyes bulged out.
"Nope! Get it out of the way! Damn it! Get out of the way of this horrible thing! ā
However, more tentacles poured in, and Nome was instantly dragged out, and a large pool of blinding blood appeared in front of everyone's eyes.
"Oh ......! Oh, God! None of this is true! ā
At the same time, Ye Kai, who was outside the supermarket, was lurking in the dense fog and watching everything that was happening in his field of vision.
He saw that behind the supermarket, a large clump of tentacles crawled out of the lake next to it like crazy plants, but because the fog was so thick, Ye Kai couldn't see how big the other party was.
"High-energy isotope unknown element detected, and the remaining time for resolution is 1 hour, 18 minutes, and 32 seconds."
The waiting time for analysis was too long, and Ye Kai felt the desire to hunt in his body. He understood that it was his body's instinctive calling.
But he wasn't sure if he could outlast the big guy down there.
Suddenly a scream was heard, and the tentacles seemed to be dragging a human out of the supermarket.
Ye Kai no longer hesitated, and flew up from the roof like a ghost, speeding away in the thick fog.
