Although the Tokushima Domain, which received more than 400,000 koku, was considered a wealthy feudal clan at the end of the Edo period, due to the existence of the Inada clan of Sumoto Castle, the feudal lord's family had no surplus food.
When Jiamao was young, he once had a serious illness, and after surviving, Xiao Jiamao often had some strange dreams.
Sometimes the dream is a beautiful house, sometimes a beautiful woman, sometimes a battlefield full of corpses, sometimes a steel monster bird flying in the sky, sometimes an iron fortress running on the ground, sometimes a ......
When he told his father about his dream, Qichang said that maybe Lan had learned something.
In order to appease the only son who did not die, Qichang spared no expense to invite a foreign teacher for Jiamao, and Western small things were almost all over Xiao Jiamao's bedroom.
The gifted little Shigeru, like his milk name Tomomaru, was already playing around at the age of twelve, learning Japanese, English, French, Latin, Manchu, and Spanish. Although Awaji is not as prosperous as Hirado and Osaka, its proximity to Osaka allows Shigeru Koieshige to see the next world from time to time.
Although he has little talent in haiku, he has reached the level of a celebrity in kyudo, kendo, and musket shooting.
In 1853, Ieshige, who had been in the genfu, followed the orders of the shogunate and went to live in Beppu, Tokushima Domain, Edo.
The twelfth shogun, Tokugawa Iekei, received Ieshige according to tradition, and Ii Naobi didn't pay much attention to the baby-faced Ieshige.
On July 8 of the same year, Commodore Perry led a fleet into Edo Bay, and while watching from afar on the shore accompanied by a feudal lord, Ieshige pulled out his sketchbook and found that it was very similar to the large iron ship he had dreamed of. (Black Ship Incident)
When the incident subsided a little, Iemo, in order to understand the whole picture of the world, selected loyal and clever men from among the attendants he had brought to Edo, and sent them to the United States, France, England, Spain, and the Qing Kingdom. Among these expatriates, those who went to the United States, Britain, and France were all playmates and surnames of Jiamao who had accompanied him since childhood, while those who were sent to the nearest Qing State were sleek feudal scholars in their twenties and thirties.
On July 27, 1853, Iekei died of illness at the age of 61 while discussing countermeasures with Masahiro Abe and others. Although the succession issue caused some turmoil, for the young Iemo, it just made him have to make a few more trips to Honmaru.
On August 21 of the same year, a fleet led by Vice Admiral Yevfimi of the Russian Navy arrived in Nagasaki, but the Russian request was also rejected by the shogunate.
This year, Iemo, who was keen on kendo, often asked masters of various schools who were active in Edo to teach him.
Because of Iemo's playful attitude, most of the schools sent a random master to deal with things, but Chiba Shusaku Seimasa, who advocated turning kendo into art, went to see Iemao in person.
After taking the time to listen to Zhou Zuo's philosophy, Jiamao, who dreamed of the battlefield of overheated weapons, very much agreed with the view that kendo would gradually disappear from the battlefield, but he also expressed no interest in learning Beichen Yidaoliu. After Zhou Zuo and Jia Mao fought with a wooden knife, Zhou Zuo realized that Jia Mao was indeed a veritable swordsman.
In order to expand the influence of the One Knife Stream, Zhou Zuo recommended the most distinctive long knife teacher of the Beichen One Knife Stream to Jiashi, Chiba Sanako.
Hearing that there is a girl in the world who has obtained the exemption from all the passes, Jiamao is driven by curiosity, and also goes to the Chiba Dojo in Liudao Town anonymously, and becomes a student of the North Star Knife Stream who does not often appear.
At the beginning, in order to amuse Ieshige, Qichang relaxed the flow of foreigners in the territory to a certain extent, but the red-faced smallpox caused a large number of feudal lords of the Tokushima domain to become ill. The rice field clan of Lianzhou Bencheng was also affected and lost a group of men, including the head of the family.
As a result, Iemo, who had never been sick, received the nickname of God's Child in the Tokushima Domain, weakening the influence of his old rival Inada clan on the feudal government.
In order to prevent the foreigners who were rampaging through Edo after the Black Ship Incident and bringing red-faced smallpox to the sole heir Jia Shige, Qichang hurriedly sent people to urge Jia Shige to get married.
Jia Mao, who had already broadened his horizons in foreign language books, first arranged for the envoy to meet the three pregnant women he was hiding in the house, so that the envoy could put aside the worry that there would be no successor, and slowly choose a wife on the list brought by the envoy. One of the three pregnant women was the daughter of the mansion, the daughter of a local merchant who she saw at the pier on the day she visited the black ship, and the other was an unmarried family member of the Tokushima clan who came to Edo to visit her. In addition to these three women in this Beppu, there are four women who are not pregnant, and there is a possibility of pregnancy.
In 1854, the Japan-U.S. Treaty of Amity was signed in March, followed by the Shimoda Treaty two months later. Western countries heard that Japan had come one after another, and within a few months, Japan had signed similar treaties with Russia, Britain, and the Netherlands.
Ii Naobi was busy arguing with the same bridge faction, and the new shogun was very weak when he was scheduled to succeed him, and he didn't care about government affairs at all.
The head of the Tokushima clan, Kekimasa Suka, also died of a sudden illness in April. At the age of eighteen, there is no doubt that he will inherit the Tokushima domain.
After making overtures to Ii Naobi, Ieshige was able to use the name of the shogunate when dealing with foreigners, although he was a daimyo from outside.
In May of that year, under the order of the shogunate, the only daughter of the head of the Inada clan, twelve-year-old Inada Yumi (apocryphal), got married.
In June, when Ishige went to the dojo to practice swords, he saw Sanako Chiba handing a towel to Ryoma Sakamoto. The heroic Sanako and the rice field Yumi, who is still a child, alternately appear in Iemao's mind.
......
At the end of July, under the mediation of Shusaku, Sanako Chiba became the side room of the lord of the Tokushima domain, Iemo.
Since Arimi had returned to Sumoto Castle in June, escorted by a retainer, Sanako was actually exercising the rights of the feudal lord's wife.
Before Sanako got married, two of the three pregnant women had died in childbirth, and the only remaining samurai girl from the clan family (Natsuki Ikeda) also returned to the Tokushima domain with her name and daughter.
After Sanako reluctantly married Ieshige, she gained a freedom far beyond that of her contemporaries. Iemao didn't just make this marriage out of jealousy of Ryoma, he really couldn't find another woman as special as Sanako. After having a wife, Iemo is like a person in a dream, no matter how busy he is, he will report his whereabouts to Sanako, and he will stay with her every night, and his life will be like there is only one woman in the world.
In 1855, Ieshige, who was finally able to return to the Tokushima Domain, returned to Sumoto Castle by boat with only Chiba Dingyoshi, the new instructor of the Tokushima Domain.
While the ship was sailing at sea, the Inada family was attacked by a group of foreigners, and all the main members of the family died, except for Yumi, who lived in Honmaru.
Due to the young age of Yumi, the more than 5,000 retainers of the Wasuka family have a common owner - Wasuka Iemo.
After seizing real power, Iemo complained to the shogunate about the evil deeds of the foreigners on the one hand, and on the other hand, promoted the Hokushin Ichi-ryu kendo in the territory.
In 1856, after returning to Edo, Ieshige did not overreact, although he received a report that Sanako had met privately and received Ryoma.
It's just that every day I accompany Sanako to travel in the mountains and rivers and practice kendo.
At the end of the year, Jiamao's first son was born, probably because of the mother's strong health, the baby was not only born naturally but also had no congenital disabilities.
While Sanako was pregnant, Ieshige happened to watch the Oedo card competition. In the end, the winning little love is a girl from the owner's family of a plum shop who doesn't even have a surname. Jiamao admired her lily-like purity, and arranged for someone to take her to his house in the name of the side room after the game. In addition to staying with her every night, Kamo sometimes plays games with her.
In 1857, Sanako and the baby remained in Edo, and after handing over the clan dojo to his nephew, Joyoshi returned to Edo to take care of Sanako's mother and son.
Xiaolian, who has always wanted to live an ordinary life, is reluctant to leave Edo and leave her mother, but after all, she is just a child of a low-level merchant family, so Jiamao simply took her and her mother back to Continent Castle together. Returning to the territory this time, Iemao urgently proposed the reform of the feudal government to develop handicrafts and commerce.
According to what he saw and heard in his dreams, the novelty he made attracted businessmen at home and abroad. Commerce brought great wealth to Iemo, and the promise of industrial equipment from foreigners gave him a thriving scene.
In order to prevent the death of the pressure of innovation without his own helm, Ieshige asked for the position of Fushimi from the old middle Abe Masahiro. Masahiro Abe himself died soon after helping Iemo with this.
The arrival of Xiaolian stimulates Arimi, who is in adolescence, and Jiamao is busy with feudal affairs and is not in Honmaru all day. I didn't notice at all that Yumi had grown up, and even if Jiamao went back to Honmaru to rest, he stayed in Xiaolian, or Natsuki's room. With more than 2,000 ministers standing behind her, Yumi began to clean up the backyard of the feudal lord's house.
In 1858, Ieshige, who had been working between Fushimi and the Tokushima domain, finally had his own steel mill and handmade weapons and firearms workshop. In the same year, the Ansei Prison arose, but because Jiamao had always been friendly to the old Ii Naobi, he was not implicated.
In 1859, Iemo, who was short of funds, devoted himself to studying civilian industry and improving the structure of the feudal clan.
In 1860, Ii Naobi died in the Sakurada Gate Incident, and the newly appointed Keiki advocated uniting the Daimyo of the outer style, so it was not easy to punish the largest appearance at the time, Iemo children's shoes; This year, Jiamao was received by Emperor Xiaomei. The first indigenously produced advanced infantry gun, successfully completed test firing. This is an iron pipe cannon made of imitation of the American M1841 Twelve-pounder howitzer. Emperor Hyomei personally named it An Zheng Cannon.
In 1861, the shogunate obtained a loan of US$6 million from France to recruit French officers, purchase weapons and ships, and form a Japanese-French company to develop industrial and commercial trade.
In the same year, the pro-American Ieshige, taking advantage of the outbreak of the American Civil War, signed contracts with the two governments of the North and the South, and the United States shipped and transported them.
In 1862, Keiki initiated the shogunate reform that spread throughout the country, and Jiamao's ordnance production line produced a local breech-loading rifled gun, the Wenjiu 2 rifle; Arimi gave birth to her sister-in-law, Koshiromaru, and the two factions of the Wasuka family had a real co-leader, and Ieshige took the opportunity to send someone to hire Prussian instructors to train a new army for himself and then load guns. In the same year, the turmoil brought about by the Tosa Koto-royal party spread to the Awa area, and a loyal and brave team composed of conservative middle-aged feudal lords took over the security of the Awa area.
In June 1863, the shogunate was forced to declare a "seizure", and the ensuing incident of American and French warships attacking Shimonoseki and the British fleet attacking the Satsuma Domain.
On 1 July 1863, the two armies fought a decisive battle at Gettysburg, and on 3 July the Confederates were defeated. The loss of 28,000 men by the Southern Army became a turning point in the civil war, and the initiative on the battlefield was transferred to the Northern Army. Jiamao, who has a new army of more than 1,000 people, has become a decisive force in the country, and has never expressed his position between the combination of public and military forces and the respect for the king.
After having the strength to protect himself, Ieshige personally returned to Edo to take Sanako home. During the move, Sanako fell ill unexpectedly, and Ieshige learned that there was a female doctor with excellent medical skills in Edo Castle. After Dr. Tachibana had a visit, he was forcibly left in Beppu, Tokushima Domain. Tachibana Saki, who has only one brother in the family, still boldly refuses to be a family of Shigeru, and because of Sanako's protection, this happy event on a whim has become a farce of a stalemate for three days. On the fourth day, under the persuasion of Tachibana's mother, Jiamao sneaked into Tachibana's room that night after promising a side room name, and forcibly got what he wanted. Sanako, who heard the shouts this time, did not come forward to relieve her again.
On August 24, 1863, the shogunate issued an edict against the Choshu clan in order to hold the Choshu soldiers accountable for attacking the Kyoto Imperial Palace during the "Forbidden Gate Rebellion", and notified the feudal domains to send troops. Refusing to send troops under the pretext of protecting the emperor, Ieshige sent several retainers to sell old cold weapons and half-used rifles to the six feudal clans involved in the war.
On December 9, 1863, the conservatives of the Choshu Domain sent three elders of the Choshu Clan to seppuku, and the First Battle of the Choshu Clan came to an end. During this battle, the feudal clans suffered from financial difficulties and were disgusted by the shogunate's restoration of the Hajj system, and Keiki's prestige was greatly damaged. Several influential ministers also lost power as a result, and Jiamao became the most favored courtier around Emperor Xiaomei.
In 1864, the leadership of Genrui Kusaka launched the Forbidden Gate Rebellion, and the newly equipped Genji machine gun was unscrupulous, and the daimyo of all parties in the country saw the power of the new army for the first time.
Sakamoto co-founded the Kameyama Trading Company with the Satsuma Domain, specializing in trade, transportation, and the purchase of weapons and ships between the Satsuma Domain. In order to show that he was also a thoughtful person, Iemao secretly offered his innovation strategy to Emperor Komei.
In general, Ieshige's strategy was to establish a new shogunate in Osaka by the Wasuka family in addition to the existing shogunate to protect the authority and security of the emperor. The reason that impressed the emperor the most was that there were many earthquakes in Kanto, and it would be too dangerous to move the emperor's palace to Kanto.
This proposal became a secret between Emperor Komei and Wasuka Ieshige, and there was no rumor or publicity, and the two only tacitly cooperated to strengthen the defenses of Fushimi and strengthen the military power of the Tokushima domain.
In 1865, radicals from the Sasho faction and the Zunwang faction assassinated Iemo, who refused to express his position, several times. Iemo, who hid in Fushimi Castle and didn't dare to go far, his biggest achievement this year was to expand the number of side rooms from three to six. In the same year, Jiamao independently developed the Keio 1 rear-loading rifle: the head of the gun has a bayonet holder, and the single loading volume is two rounds.
In 1866, Qingxi took over as general; France changed its diplomatic strategy and gave up its continued support for Qingxi; The United States, which had regained stability, sold a battleship and a large amount of steel to its good partner, Jiamao Children's Shoes; Fu Wushuangzhi, Jiamao's biggest backer, Emperor Xiaoming, was infected with red-faced smallpox. In the same year, the Austro-Prussian War broke out, and the attention of Britain and France shifted back to Europe. After the war, European and American countries began to pay attention to rear-loading guns, and the Keio 1 was exported overseas, bringing a large number of orders to the Tokushima Domain.
In 1867, under the treatment of Misaki Tachibana, who was proficient in strange medical skills, Emperor Komei escaped, and the loyal warriors tortured to find the murderer who poisoned the emperor, but unfortunately the murderer took the poison ahead of time and did not survive. The weak-hearted royal faction began to raise military supplies in a vain attempt to cover up their crimes through mutiny. Keiki also set out to call on the relatives to unite in a vain attempt to usurp the family wealth that Jiamao had accumulated over the years.
On November 15, 1867, a ninja hired by Ieshige took advantage of the chaos to assassinate Ryoma Sakamoto, a swordsman who carried a pistol and a knife with him. After the news spread, Sanako became seriously ill, and after she recovered, her mind gradually returned to her children and husband. Killing his best friend also makes Ieshige feel guilty, but Inada Yumi's son died young, and seeing that Sanako's child is very likely to inherit his position, Iemao has to get rid of this infectious judge for the sake of family stability.
In 1868, a three-way battle broke out between the Toba-Fushimi generation, and the new army, armed with machine guns, infantry howitzers, and multi-round breech-loading rifles under the command of Prussian officers, finally won the final victory for Ieshige, who was also hiding in the Kyoto Imperial Palace. The Tokushima Army, which was pursuing the victory, easily captured Osaka Castle with the assistance of the gunfire of the battleship Friendship.
In the same year, Emperor Komei announced the establishment of the Great Patriotic General's Office in Osaka, nominally ruling over the Seven Provinces of Goki like the Great Shogun of Seiyi, with Wasuka Ieshige as the first Great Patriotic General.
After achieving a phased victory, Ieshige sent people to negotiate with Keiki on the one hand, and on the other hand, seized the time to conquer, Shikoku, Chugoku, Kyushu and other places, and accelerated the annexation of the daimyo who refused to surrender.
In order to fight against the Shinsengumi and the Restorationists, the ninja culture of the region was revived. The professionally trained ninjas not only restrained the unorganized and undisciplined samurai, but also kept pace with the times and took on the task of going abroad to find out information.
The rise of Jiamao made a rift between Britain and France, and the French once again stood behind Qingxi, and Jiamao grasped the sore spot of Germany's new construction and waste to be rebuilt, and tied Germany and the United States together and put it behind his back.
In 1869, Ieshige gained the support of the British to purge the opposition west of the Owari Plain, and was dragged down by a series of uprisings, and entered a phase of confrontation with the Tokugawa shogunate, which dominated the Kanto region.
In 1870, the Ieshige family moved into the renovated Osaka Castle, and the system of control of the Patriotic Shogunate, which had divided half of the country, was gradually improved. With the arrival of seven and famous hostesses, the new Oku began to evolve to the Oku to the east.
In the chaos of the end of the Edo period, how far could Wasuka Ieshige lead the Tokushima Domain to his Osaka shogunate?
As the children grow up, will the mothers who live in Da Ori have sharpened their teeth more and more, and will accidentally take away Jiamao's life?
Listen to the next breakdown......
