Chapter Fifty-Six: The Wall of Fire
It is said that a very small number of enlightened monks can only get relics after their bodies are cremated. Therefore, from the introduction of Buddhism to the Central Plains, hundreds of years before and after, there are still very few bone relics circulating in China.
The more famous ones are the two Qingguang relics of Luoyang White Horse Temple and the three ingots of Nanyang Wanfo Temple.
And how do you distinguish between these three kinds of relics? The monk gave me the easiest and quickest way to identify them - white bones, red flesh, and black hair. White is a bone relic, red is a flesh relic, and black is a hair relic. Due to the limited time, the monk instructed me not to move the hair relics and meat relics for the time being, and only to take away the bone relics.
But I have a question that I can't figure out. Han Shichang and Miss Pan's group of people must have already come to this scripture pavilion, but why are these treasures still intact here? Don't they know the value of these relics? Or didn't see it at all?
It is unlikely that they did not see it, and besides, with the nature of tomb robbers, even if they did not know the value of these relics, it was impossible to ignore them completely. With that, I suddenly thought of a possibility. It's not that they don't want to take it, but they don't dare to take it?
Immediately, I smelled a sense of conspiracy. Could it be that there is a hidden mechanism near us?
I hurriedly told the monk to stop. The monk had already finished flipping through the top layer of the bookshelf at this time, and was now bending over and pouting his ass to turn over the middle layer. And he was completely carried away at this time, and he didn't pay attention to my words at all, not only did he not stop, but he was also dissatisfied: "Lao Tzu has been running for more than a month, and finally I see something in return." No one should persuade me, they don't take it, it's because they don't know the goods. ā
Unexpectedly, before his words fell, as soon as the treasure letter in his hand was opened, a red light suddenly burst out of the treasure letter! The monk couldn't react, so he reflexively threw the thing in his hand out, and at the same time staggered back a few steps, and finally slammed into the bookshelf behind him and sat on the ground. In the blink of an eye, his whole body turned pale with fright.
And as soon as I saw the red light, I suddenly "buzzed" in my head, and my heart said Isn't this the kind of blood cicada? It's over, it's big this time.
But fortunately, after this blood cicada came out of the treasure letter, it did not show a strong desire to attack like the previous one. Instead, he landed on the bookshelf full of treasures, flicked his wings a few times, and stopped moving.
The monk and I were both frightened. But because they couldn't figure out what the situation of the blood cicada was, the two of them didn't dare to act rashly for a while.
I don't know how many years this thing has been locked up inside, and when it comes out for a while, it will definitely not be able to adapt to the fire. It's just that I'm not sure now that it didn't attack us in the first place, because it was afraid of the torches in our hands.
But it wasn't an option to just go on like this, so I decided to give it a try. I first gestured to the monk to stay still, but as soon as I took a step, I heard a long cry of the blood cicada, and then its wings shook violently.
As soon as I saw this, I immediately felt weak and hurriedly stabilized my body. And the blood cicada also regained its calm again.
By this time I had figured it out, as long as I didn't move, it didn't seem to feel where I was. Considering that there is also this possibility, it has been sealed in the treasure letter for many years, and the eyes may have been abolished, and now it is entirely up to hearing to discern our position.
That's easy to do, I've already planned a plan in my heart to divert the tiger from the mountain. But just then, I suddenly smelled a burning smell coming from nearby. Immediately, a bad premonition rose in my heart, and when I looked back, I realized that I and the monk had caused a big disaster.
I saw that the rows of bookshelves that were knocked over by the monk just now were unknowingly burned! What's even worse is that the flames followed the Buddhist scrolls scattered on the ground, and even led all the way to a large number of bookshelves! Immediately, a wall of fire was formed.
This must have been the torch that had just fallen off the monk's hand, leading the Buddha scroll on the ground. And the monk realized that he was in trouble at this time, and saw that the flames behind him were about to rush to him. He hurriedly used his hands and feet to extinguish the flames on his body.
And almost at the same time, with a long roar, I saw a red light quickly fly in the direction of the monk.
"Back! Watch the back! I hurriedly shouted at the monk.
The monk is an experienced guy after all, and he heard the blood cicada flying towards him. He put his shirt on his head and jumped over the burning bookshelf! On the other hand, the blood cicada kept hovering opposite the monk, but in the end it was still blocked by the heat wave on the other side.
"Changshan, jump here!"
The monk's voice came from the other side of the wall of fire.
I looked at the wall of fire and swallowed. At this point, I knew in my heart that if I rushed over, the best would be a minor burn. But if I don't go over, I'm barely sure I'll be able to escape from the Blood Cicada's mouth.
The monk's shouting continued. The Buddha scrolls on the ground are actually very resistant to burning, and the wall of fire has already shown a tendency to decay in this short period of time. At this time, after wandering to no avail, the blood cicada over there turned around and flew in my direction.
I've heard a monk say that the blood cicada likes to burrow into people's mouths the most. I wasn't sure I would be able to rush through, so I stuffed a relic in my mouth in advance. Then he learned from the monk, covered his head, and rushed towards the wall of fire with his heart horizontal.
The wall of fire is no longer as big as it was before, but it's still a heat wave. I was still some distance away from the wall of fire when I felt a churning heat rushing over my face. But now, even if I regret it, it's too late, so I just gritted my teeth and walked straight through the wall of fire.
I was expecting a dog to gnaw on the ground. But after I jumped over, the monk should have caught me. However, since I was covered with my head covered at the time, I couldn't see clearly, so he served as a cushion for me. All I felt was a lump of flesh, and then I heard the monk's almost breathless cough.
The monk covered his stomach, got up from the ground tremblingly, and scolded: "Have you practiced iron head gong in ****?" Lao Tzu's stomach is about to pierce you. ā
I came back to my senses, felt it, and realized that I didn't seem to be burned. But the monk's face turned pale, and it seemed that he had really been hit by me. I hurriedly went over to help him, and said very apologetically: "I'm sorry, I didn't brake the car, I'll pay attention next time." ā
The monk was so painful that he could barely speak, and he didn't even scold me.
"What about the girl?"
He asked suddenly. I was stunned for a moment, and then I remembered that since the appearance of the blood cicada just now, I didn't seem to see Miss Pan again.
The monk covered his stomach and coughed: "Don't look for it, that girl must have walked a long time ago."
