For a long time after it was completed, I was unable to make any revisions to it, leaving me with a lot of regrets. In those years, I experienced a lot of things, such as the "5.12" earthquake in 2008, and then I also encountered a lot of changes and uncertainties in work, writing, and family.

"Ocean of Stars" is not perfect, it originated from the short story I wrote on paper in the 90s of the last century, and it has expanded greatly in the process of online writing. At the same time, the different writing experiences, techniques and levels in the early and late periods are also destined to have many imbalances. In the beginning, I tried to describe it as "the disadvantages and advantages are equally prominent", and then the ambition rose to try to make it something more valuable, but many of the weaknesses in the early stage obviously became shortcomings.

In this revision, I tried my best to fix the inconsistency, and corrected many obvious clerical errors and memory omissions. The flashback beginning, which was revised in the past due to physical publishing, has also returned to the original narrative style, which may be more intimate for old readers. In short, I hope that through the efforts of this time, it will become better quality, more durable, and more reasonable.

Overall, the basic plot hasn't changed in any way. However, due to the influence of the general environment, a large number of references, tribute terms, names of people and places have been greatly changed, which should not affect the reading experience. Additions, deletions and changes have been made in some places. In this revision, it seems that more than 30,000 words have been added before and after, and counting the low-quality parts deleted in the middle, the number of words added is about the same as the length of an episode in the previous Taiwan version. I hope these changes make the plot more exciting, and the unexplained areas clearer, not the other way around.

"Star Ocean" was conceived in the 90s of the 20th century and written in the first few years of the 21st century, which is also the one or two decades of China's rapid development. In this revision, there are also some new contents, but the overall is still close to the gray era of "Piano of Steel". After all, when Xinghai was conceived, it took me more than 50 hours to take the train from Sichuan to Nanjing, and now the high-speed train with a speed of 350km/h is being prepared, and the changes are not small. This sense of interlacing of times is also one of the characteristics of this book.
