A.D. 1958, April 18.
Eastern United States.
The hurried ringing of the phone broke the silence of the night, Robert? Professor Parker woke up slowly, fumbling for the receiver.
"Hello? Hello. ”
"Professor, Professor!" On the other end of the phone came the man's excited voice:
"Can you come back to the institute right away? Just a minute ago, at 08:00 GMT, it was detected that the geomagnetic field had rapidly decayed 80 times in 2 seconds and then returned to normal! It has been confirmed that the instantaneous distortion of the Earth's magnetic field is responsible for this phenomenon. But I don't think it's purely natural! Don't believe me, look outside! ”
Professor Parker looked sleepily at the clock on the wall, 4:01 a.m.
"Wu, stop all your unrealistic fantasies, go home and sleep, I'm tired."
Hanging up the phone without hesitation, Professor Parker shook his head helplessly, lying on his back on the big bed, his eyes looked at the sky through the half-covered curtains, his gaze gradually became solemn, and then the whole bounced up from the bed!
Just outside the window as far as Professor Pike could see, nearly a quarter of the sky was obscured by slowly rolling inky blue clouds! Several flashes of white light shuttled back and forth in the clouds, occasionally there was a ray of light piercing the clouds, the long light seemed to be frozen lightning, like the tip of a needle hanging low in the air, light and dark alternately flickering, indescribably weird!
The vision lasted for about ten seconds before it vanished and the sky was quiet again.
Professor Parker recovered from the shock, and he didn't even have time to find his shoes, so he slammed the door barefoot in his pajamas.
Fifteen minutes later, Professor Parker parked his vintage Ford in front of a small two-story building. Bright street lamps shone above the main entrance, where a rudimentary iron sign hung that read: American Institute of Geological Resources.
"Who else knows about this?" The old professor in the dark flower pajamas kept flipping through the printed materials in his hand, frowned, and strode towards the monitoring center of the institute, and the quiet corridor echoed the sound of two people walking quickly.
"It's just you. Well, if there are still people who haven't slept at this time, they should have seen it too! The voice trembled in reply. Professor Pike was followed by an Asian man who was extremely tall, had unkempt hair, and was clutching a black suitcase in his arms.
"What's in your arms?" Professor Parker asked.
"This is a toolbox I made to use for testing." The man replied excitedly patting his suitcase.
Using his identification card to open the door to the monitoring center, Professor Parker casually threw the data on the table and trotted to the cluster of instruments on the central giant research bench without looking back.
"Wu, call the Aviation Advisory Committee right now and tell Dr. Evan what you've found! However, I think they should be more confused than we are. ”
……
On July 29 of the same year, NASA was established in Washington, D.C., in the eastern part of the United States. Professor Parker and his assistant "Take".
On February 18 of the following year, Professor Parker promoted his assistant "Wu" to associate researcher, and jointly proposed a "moon landing plan" to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration.
On February 22, a voting meeting on the "moon landing program" was held secretly at the White House. As a result of the meeting, the proposal was unanimously rejected by the top brass and ordered to halt all current research on the "moon landing," which President Dwight D. Eisenhower had made top secret.
With the exception of a limited number of high-ranking officials, no one knows what the "moon landing program" really is about. And Professor Parker was also depressed because the "moon landing plan" was rejected.
On April 1, Professor Parker was found hanging himself from his home in Washington, D.C. After learning of the professor's death, the former assistant "Wu" single-handedly undertook the professor's funeral.
In mid-July, "Wu" quietly left NASA.
No one, including all his American friends, knows where he went. There is speculation that he has left the United States, others say that he has returned to China, but many more believe that he was funded by the Soviets and is hiding somewhere in the Soviet Union to continue his moon landing program......
Ten years later.
July 16, 1969, 9:32 a.m.
In the eastern United States, the world-famous Apollo 11, carried by the Saturn V launch vehicle, was successfully launched. Ten years after the United States vetoed the "moon landing program" proposed by Professor Parker and "Wu", it actually restarted the program again and successfully landed Apollo 11 on the moon.
The world is boiling, and people are reciting what Armstrong said:
"It's a small step for an individual, but it's a giant leap for humanity."
However, no one cares who restarted the plan, and no one knows who came up with it.
On the surface, everything that happened back then has been lost to history.
