Chapter 41: The Dagger Behind the Back
At this moment, the battle line of the elven army is extremely unstable, and everyone is constantly running east and west. Despite this, Rafincrest did everything in his power to maintain order and stabilize the morale of the army. Ronin had quarreled with the nobles many times in the past, and now he was somewhat grateful to the owner of the Crow Castle for controlling his soldiers. The mage couldn't imagine what would happen if he had changed to Star Eyes.
The demons continued to attack the coalition positions from all directions, and the elves, who were the main force, were naturally the strongest in the impact
In order to prevent the formation from being breached, the elves who can take up arms and fight have rushed to the front line, including the owner of Crow Castle - Rafincrest
A knight flashed in front of the orcs with a broken flag waving in the wind. Blox's surprise muttered something, this flag should have stayed next to Rafinclest. Could it be that the elven defenders were forced by the enemy and had no organization at all?
He looked to the left, and the idea was confirmed. The Blackbird flag of Blackbird Castle fluttered nearby, and Brooks felt that he would never have walked so far, although it was still unbreakable.
Rafencrest himself came into his sights. Risking his own safety, he slashed at one of the demon guards and kicked the wounded fellow in the head. The owner of Crow Castle with his personal guards also made a deep impression on the veteran. Brooks had no respect for the Night Elves, but Rafincrest was a natural warrior who even deserved the title of Orc.
The elves gained confidence from the nobleman's resolute expressions and kept pouring to his side. Rafincrest did what even a mage couldn't - his followers gained power just by standing by his side. Brooks saw the determined and proud faces, they knew they were going to die, but they all did their best to prevent the demons from winning.
Or rather, Rafincrest was a natural leader, able to lead an army against the Queen when the whole country worshipped her - in the name of saving the queen from the rebellious upper elves, of course, but it would be nice to be able to do that
It's like Richard the Lionheart, more of a ranger than a king
However, there are both advantages and disadvantages to this
Richard eventually rushed to the front during a siege and was then dropped with an arrow
One of the horsemen began to approach him from behind Ravencrest, but Brooks didn't feel the need to get that close. The elf had a dark face, looking different from the others, and he was staring at Rafincrest, not the demon.
Be careful! Blox shouted, but Rafincrest couldn't hear him. The battlefield is too noisy, and such warnings are useless.
The assassin's mount shifted position, and he had to reposition. Brooks pushed away several soldiers in his way and swung his axe aloft, hoping that Raffencrest would notice it.
But he didn't see it...... The traitor saw it.
He narrowed his eyes, and a desperate expression appeared on his face. He stabbed the dagger out.
Rafincrest began to turn to the side of the orcs. He frowned, as if he was very unhappy with this untimely interruption.
The assassin stuck a dagger in the back of his neck.
Rafincrest moved in the saddle and dropped his sword to touch the dagger, but the soldier had already pulled it out. Blood spurted out of the wound and splattered on his noble and splendid robes.
Before most of the elves around could react to what was going on, the assassin took the opportunity to throw away his dagger and mount his mount to slip away, but at the moment the sea-like crowd blocked his way.
Brooks roared and made a way with his axe, and the elves stared at the mad warrior in amazement. The orcs felt that it didn't matter if they knew what was going on, and the most important thing now was to catch the traitor.
Rafincrest fell forward tremblingly, and his followers only noticed that several elves hurried up and caught him before he could fall from his mount.
Bloxs finally squeezed to Rafincrest's side: "There! Be there! ”
Several elves looked at him in confusion, and finally two followed.
The assassin had no way to get his mount through the crowd, and he looked back to see that the pursuers were approaching. A look of despair crossed his dark face.
He snorted at the Nightblade Leopard. To Brooks' amazement, the leopard slapped a soldier in his way. After the hapless creature fell to the ground, the Nightblade Leopard bit another elf. The soldiers thought that the leopard must be crazy and hurried to make way for it.
Brooks calculated the distance and jumped over. He landed on the ground, right behind the Nightblade Leopard. The orc stretched out his arm and slashed at the leopard's waist in a frenzy.
The blow missed the vital point, only scratching the fur, but it was enough to attract the attention of the Nightblade Leopard. The leopard did not listen to his master's orders and turned to attack the orcs.
Brooks managed to dodge the leopard's claws, and the animal slapped again, followed by a stab with its front paws.
The orc raised his axe and slashed it under the jaw of the Nightblade Leopard. The sharp blade of the axe sliced through its black fur, blood splattering onto the orc. Due to inertia, the leopard's body jerked against his axe, and he used all his strength to prevent the leopard from falling on top of him.
The orc's left arm suddenly tingled, and he glanced there to see a blood-red cut.
The assassin wanted to add another sword, but just as the sword was swung out, another sword blocked him.
The assassin's downward momentum nearly brought Garrod to one knee, who cursed under his breath and dodged a flying leg from his enemy.
The captain of the guard didn't notice the dying Nightblade Leopard. The leopard twitched, bleeding all over the ground, and stretched out its claws to strike everything in its vicinity, and Garrod was knocked to the ground by the back of its claws.
"Garrod! You go and inform Qiuchen! Fast! Glancing at Garrod, who was trying to get up from the ground, Brooks grabbed the handle of his axe, and when he felt that the leopard was a little less powerful, he quickly pulled it from it. The Nightblade Leopard made a grunting sound from its mouth and fell forward, its front legs slumping, and its body piled up.
The Assassin jumped down as his mount fell, charging at Brooks with his sword in hand. The two collided with each other, causing Brooks to fall backwards. To the orc's secret surprise, the assassin landed steadily, and he struggled to keep his balance.
"Abominable monster!" The assassin said with a sneer. He swung his sword and stabbed it, nearly cutting off Brooks' ear. The orc flew a leg towards his feet, and he leaped upwards with agility.
Before he could hit the ground, the orc's tomahawk struck him.
The axe slashed through his armor and cut through his flesh, and he looked at Bloxes in horror and fell backwards, still clutching his sword. He staggered back a few steps, still holding his sword. Bloxes stood up, facing the wounded enemy.
The assassin panted and struggled to stand up straight, sword in hand, as if to provoke the orc to slash at him.
Brooks swung his axe.
To his surprise, the assassin suddenly dropped his weapon and shouted, "Long live Azhara!" ”
The tomahawk slashed through his chest with ease, and he fell forward, dying, before he could hit the ground. There was blood all over the ground.
Blox, panting, walked over to the corpse and lightly touched the assassin's foot, who did not respond.
A soldier who had been with them earlier also came to help. "You killed him!"
"Great!
But the orcs did not hear these praises. He turned and looked at Ravencrest. Several of his retinue lifted him above his head and through the chaotic crowd, carrying him away from the battlefield. Rafincrest had his eyes closed, and he looked as if he was asleep, but Blox knew otherwise. His chin hung loosely, and an arm that was not held up by his faithful soldier hung lifelessly: a sight all too familiar to the orc veteran.
Is the Lord of Crowsburg dead?
