Chapter 2: Courtyard Horror

"Master...... Why is this place so quiet? I called out to the master.

He didn't answer, just tugged at the rope in my hand and motioned for me to follow him forward. Along the way, I passed a lot of private houses, and the strange thing is that the doors of these houses are actually open, and through the torches in the master's hand, you can vaguely see some furnishings in the houses and farm tools such as hoes and sickles.

After walking for a few minutes, I passed a relatively large house, and I accidentally looked over and saw two people sitting at the table in the room, an old man and an old woman, both dressed in black, facing the door on their sides, and they couldn't see clearly. However, there is a faint bowl on the wooden table, and it is supposed to be eating.

I wondered, if there are still people in this pond village, why don't they light a kerosene lamp when the lights are blind, is it because they can't afford kerosene and want to eat in the dark?

I didn't understand, but when I saw the master's serious expression, I didn't ask, I just tightened the rope in my hand and followed the master honestly. The deeper you go into the village, the thicker and colder the fog becomes, as if there is a cold air that is drilling into your body, and it is very uncomfortable.

At this time, the master suddenly became a little anxious, began to speed up his pace, his figure disappeared into the fog in front of him, and I was ready to follow quickly, but suddenly I heard the master let out an angry roar, followed by a strange sound, and then suddenly felt that the hand was loosened, and the feeling of the rope being held by the master suddenly disappeared.

The rope is broken!

I was so frightened that I shouted for my master, and when I pulled hard, I only saw a broken string in my hand. After walking a few steps ahead, there was no shadow of the master at all, only a thick and frightening white fog all around, and by the light of the moon, I could barely see the distance of a few steps.

"Master, master......!" I screamed in fear, I was only an eight-year-old baby at that time, and I was already scared when this kind of thing happened. But no matter how much I shouted, there was no response, and I couldn't even see the red torch in the master's hand.

I tried not to cry as I trotted all the way to the place in front of me where I thought my master might go, but I had been running for a long time, and I felt as if I was spinning in circles. I took out my flashlight and turned on the light, but the light didn't reach far.

Just when I didn't know what to do, there was a sound of footsteps behind me, as if someone was walking. I was scared at first, but when I looked back, I realized that it was a few villagers who had come. I finally breathed a sigh of relief, just ask these villagers, maybe I can know why this village is so weird, and let these adults help me find a master.

So I ran over and asked the villagers, "Big brother and sister, why is your reservoir village so foggy and dark, and you don't turn on the lights or light kerosene lamps at night, which scares me to death." I'm separated from my master, can you help? ”

I think I'm a little baby, eight or nine years old, and under normal circumstances, adults will help when they see it.

The villagers were all seventeen or eighteen years old, carrying hoes, wearing plain clothes, and some mud on their trouser legs, as if they had just returned from the fields. But I was already talking so loudly that they didn't look at me at all, their eyes were straight ahead, and they just walked, and their steps were hard, not at all in harmony with their bodies.

When I finally saw someone, I naturally didn't want to give up, so I followed while calling my big brother and sister. I don't know why, the closer I got to them, the colder I felt. It's as if these villagers are all walking dead.

I saw that they didn't pay attention to me, and I was a little anxious, so I casually threw the rope that the master asked me to hold just now directly to the ground, and then reached out to pull the last man away.

Strange things happened, I threw the rope that the master had given me before, and the few people who were carrying hoes and sickles did not go away, but slowly turned to look at me from the front, and when I turned around, I heard the clatter of their necks.

The way they look at me is like looking at a dead man, and it chills my heart.

"Big brother and sister, what are you going to do?" My voice trembled a little, and I slowly backed away. Thinking of this strange village and my master's previous actions, my eight-year-old brain really thought about something.

I didn't pay attention, stepped on a stone and fell to the ground, the whole person lost balance, and the cloth bag that he picked up in his arms fell to the ground, and a lot of the paper money that had been placed according to the master's instructions fell out of the cloth bag.

Originally, it wasn't a big problem if the paper money fell out, so I just picked it up in a bit of a hurry. But what I didn't expect was that these villagers who behaved strangely didn't have any outrageous behavior, but as soon as these paper money appeared, they all seemed to have gone crazy suddenly!

Farm tools such as hoes and sickles were thrown to the ground, and they pounced on the paper money scattered on the ground like dogs that had been hungry for a few days when they saw meat, and began to grab the paper money on the ground like crazy, and shoved it into their pockets.

I'm a little confused, I don't know what crazy these people are. It may not be that they don't know that this is paper money for burning the dead, and it is completely useless for people to take it, and they cannot buy food and clothing.

But their crazy appearance and strange behavior are enough to scare an eight-year-old child. Immediately, he didn't dare to stay any longer, and he didn't care about the paper money that fell out, so he grabbed the cloth bag and ran towards a place.

The strange villagers didn't follow, and when I turned around, I could still see them lying on the ground frantically fighting for the paper money, I don't know if it was an illusion or something, I saw that their eyes seemed to be flashing a faint red light......

I ran all the way without a head or a brain, and when I couldn't run and stopped out of breath, I found that there was a big house in front of me, which looked a bit like the village chief's house.

"This pond village is so weird, and the master is separated again, I should ask the village chief what's going on, right?" I thought as I cautiously walked towards what might have been the village chief's house.

As soon as I crossed the threshold, I felt that something was wrong, inside this big house, it seemed that the cold feeling was heavier than the outside, I looked around, and found that next to the wall of this big house, there seemed to be some black rectangular things, a lot of them, dense.

When I saw it clearly, my scalp exploded and I was scared to pee.

Along the foot of the wall, a room full of large coffins were erected! Now that I'm surrounded by these coffins, and with this eerie atmosphere, how can this not be afraid?

Bang! Bang! Bang!

There was a sudden noise from the inside of the rows of coffins, as if something was knocking on the coffin lid from the inside of the coffin, and soon the "bang" sound became a piercing sound of fingernails scratching the coffin lid, irritating the ears and heart.

I was so frightened that I was trembling and my whole body was blinded. The feeling is indescribable, I just want to run for my life, but I can't take a step.

Just when I felt like I was going to collapse, I suddenly heard a strange noise, as if something was rushing in from outside. Then I saw two white shadows, and my eyes were still red, and I ran into the hall.

Just as the two white shadows ran into the hall, a coffin at the foot of the wall suddenly opened the lid and fell to the ground with a thud, and a black mass rushed towards me from the inside of the coffin. I was so frightened that I didn't have time to react, and I didn't move.

One of the two white shadows suddenly accelerated, interjected, and got between me and the black gas that rushed out of the coffin, and entangled with the black gas.

Only then did I see clearly that the white shadow was actually a paper figure made of white dark paper! This paper figure is vivid, and there are some facial features painted with cinnabar on the face, as if it were a real person.

The other white shadow was actually a horse, a horse made of white paper!

As soon as the paper horse came rushing over, he put me on his back and rushed out of the house as fast as he could.
