Chapter 50: The Maniac

The batmobile sped through the city and drove away from the city like a gust of wind, heading towards the suburbs.

A few minutes earlier, Barbara had found out that Mitchell LaVine's father, Ferry Lavin, was being held in Black Gate Prison for murder. Roy was pretty sure Mitchell was there, but he didn't know how long he had been on his way or if he had any hope of catching up.

He slammed on the accelerator, and the locomotive let out a high-pitched roar and sped off at a speed comparable to that of a professional race car.

Black Gate Prison, located on an island outside of Gotham City. Surrounded by water, this place is naturally more difficult to escape, and it has a much older history than Arkham Asylum. Generally speaking, the real criminals should be locked up in the dark, but in recent years, the vicious criminals in Gotham City are all super crazy people who are so typical that they can't be more typical, and even the lawyers who are best at reversing black and white can hardly deny, so Arkham has become the most dangerous place for people in Gotham City.

Ferry Laven, a pale-looking old man, dressed in prison clothes and handcuffed, made his already thin look even more emaciated, as if he had been in prison only yesterday - even though he had lived in it for more than a year, and would be here for much longer.

He was led to the interview room by two prison guards. Through a layer of glass, he was surprised to see his son sitting on the other side of the glass.

He sat down and picked up the microphone.

"Mitchell? I was surprised, I didn't expect," said Ferry said, "that you hadn't come to see me in a year, and I thought you wouldn't forgive me." ”

"I don't." Mitchell said coldly.

Ferry was a little embarrassed, and changed the subject and asked, "How is your mother?" Is she okay? ”

"Mom? She just died. Mitchell said calmly.

"What!?" Ferry was shocked, "What's going on?" ”

Mitchell remained calm, as if he was telling something that had nothing to do with him: "I killed her." ”

Ferry was stunned for a moment. Just like a normal person's reaction, most of the mind will think that it is a joke or a prank, and the last possibility that will come to mind is that it may be true.

Mitchell blandly continued: "Your irresponsible behavior ruined my life, and I haven't laughed since that day. However, from this day onwards, I will be born again. ”

As if in response to his words, everything suddenly plunged into darkness. The backup generator was quickly activated, and the pale blue light of the emergency came on. With the help of this bleak little bit of blue light, Ferry saw that the man through the glass was no longer his son. He put on a mask as white as paper, revealing only one mouth, and an exaggerated and terrifying smile painted on the corners of his mouth with bright red lipstick.

"After today," Mitchell pulled out a pistol from his father's horrified gaze and loaded it with a "click," "and I'll laugh forever." ”

By the time Roy arrived at the Black Gate Prison, the prison had been completely powered out. He lifted the front of the car and smashed through the black iron door and rushed in, but it was rare that Barbara didn't lash out at the possibility of damaging the paint on the car.

Because she knew that the situation was indeed urgent.

The two guards at the door drew their guns and shot, but Roy, who was wearing a bulletproof jacket, ignored their pursuit at all, and rushed through the prison door all the way, until he approached the control room before stopping the car.

The locomotive's automatic locking function was activated, and three more guards rushed in front of him. Raised his hand and threw a dart to knock down the pistols of the two guards, and flew forward to block the muzzle of the third person for himself with the help of the two disarmed men, and at the same time knocked down the two guards in three or two moves. Then before the third man had time to pull away enough, he took down the third man.

A large number of prison guards gathered in the control room. Originally, they were all nervously gathered in front of the surveillance cameras, and they were about to pull out their guns when they saw the winged knights enter. Roy said in a low voice, "I'm just here to help." ”

"We don't need the help of you drag maniacs!" The lead prison guard shouted, "Gordon may be able to put up with you bats running around the city, but not every cop in the city is as good-natured as he is." ”

Roy said coldly: "Then you can choose to mobilize all the police forces here to round me up." First of all, I can assure you that you can't catch me, and if the criminals in it run away while we drag each other down, can you be held responsible? ”

The prison guard's face changed several times, and finally he "snorted", which was regarded as acquiescing to the addition of this disguised vigilante.

"How's it going?" Roy asked.

The man didn't answer, but one of the guards replied, "A boy named Mitchell LaVine has come to visit his father." He used a little timed trick to break the wires outside of us, and then put on that ridiculous mask and thought he was a clown. The gun he was holding was loaded with armor-piercing bullets, and he shot his old man through the bulletproof glass. ”

Roy frowned: "The pistol?" If he is an armor-piercing bullet fired from a pistol, then he must have quite good arm strength. ”

"yes." Someone else said, "That guy injured two of our colleagues, and now he's holding them hostage and saying that no one is allowed to enter." Then came the usual request of the robber, who wanted a helicopter to take him away, and that's about it. We told him that he was already getting ready, and that he would be ready in about fifteen minutes. ”

"So do you have any plans to take him?"

The man smiled bitterly: "We're just some jailers, this kind of work is done by those special police, they are already on the road now." But when I arrived here from the city, the daylilies were cold. ”

Roy nodded: "Then you guys just stay here, and I'll solve the problem right away." ”

With that, he walked deeper into the prison inside.

"Oracle, give me a detailed plan of the Black Gate Prison." Roy said.

"It's in progress." Barbara said, quipping, "It's funny, you're following the old path of 'him'." ”

"Who?"

"Bruce, he's going through the construction of the Black Gate before."

Roy replied, turned on the mobile computer on his wrist, projected the detailed structure of the building, and manually marked the rooms and locations of the hostages and prisoners with red dots.

The meeting room where Mitchell and the two hostages were staying happened to be a cell on the second floor where a political prisoner was held.

Roy quickly had a plan. He climbed up the safety ladder to the second floor and followed the map to the cell. As he passed through the corridor between the cells, the criminals inside pointed at him one by one and screamed. There are those who are afraid, and those who are even more arrogant and provocative.

Roy ignored the guys and went straight to the political prisoner's cell.

When the political prisoner saw this scary-dressed bat come to him, he shrank back in fright: "What's wrong? What do you want? ”

Without saying a word, Roy pried open the door and approached the cell, said "I'm sorry" in a low voice, and then slammed the unknown guy's head against the wall to the side, knocking him out and throwing him into the corner.

This is the best way to ensure that the prisoners inside do not escape when the door of the cell is open.

He then turned on the infrared imaging function, and found the location of Mitchell and the two hostages through the temperature released from the room under his feet, and found the location of Mitchell directly above his head.

Roy crouched down and smeared the floor with gel explosives.

He stood up, pulled the trigger, and the gel-coated spot exploded under his feet. The black figure fell along with boulders, tiles, and dust, and Mitchell had no chance to react at all, and was already snatched from the gun in Roy's grip and knocked to the ground with an elbow.

"Hostage safety." Roy tuned the communication to the Black Gate Prison control room and said, "You can come in." ”

Barbara sighed: "You are really getting more and more 'his' style." ”

Mitchell LaVine fell to his knees, and prison guards quickly rushed in and knocked him down, handcuffing him.

"It shouldn't be like this, I've cut off everything from the past. I should be able to be like Mr. J, just like him, smile every day, not worry about anything, and not be stumped by any problems, it shouldn't be like this. ”

"Pull it down." One of the guards ripped the mask off his face, "You're just another madman trying to follow him." ”

The horrible, laughing face was ripped off, ironically, but beneath the mask was a face drowned in despair and tears.

That's the clown. For every desperate person in Gotham City, even the radicals, for all of them, the Joker is always another option when life is dark. No matter what kind of setbacks a person encounters, they always have a "crazy" route to choose.

That's why so many people worship the clown, and why so many people want to follow him. Because he is the representative of "madness", he is another way out when you are desperate.

Roy was silent, quietly retreating into a dark corner when no one noticed.
