Chapter Ninety-Five: Infiltrating the Military Region
"Kate? Kane, his father, Colonel Kane, was a high-ranking military general with a heavy army - so I guess it would be no problem to sneak some equipment for my daughter or something. β
Barbara said as her computer showed the redhead she had just met in the bar.
"Her mother, Gabriel, was once very wealthy and left her daughter a rather modest inheritance." She continued, "The families of high-ranking military generals? An extremely rich second generation? This sister looks like she's got it all, and by the way, forget about it, she's older than me. β
Roy flipped through the information Barbara found for a moment, and said, "She hadβor hadβa twin sister, Beth, who was killed in a terrorist attack with her mother. And according to the information, when these two relatives were lost, Kate? Kane was in the same room as them. That sounds like a good enough motivation. β
"I can't imagine how horrible it is to see two loved ones die in front of me." Barbara sighed, "Oh, wait, I can imagine it again when I look at Bruce, and that's what made Batman." β
"Probably made Batwoman too." Roy said, "Can you find out the specific unit of her father, Colonel Kane?" If he had used his position to provide his daughter with equipment and military supplies, he would have left a mark anyway. β
"Of course, wait a minute," Barbara's fingers fluttered across the keyboard, and a map quickly popped up on the screen, with an address marked with a special symbol.
"It's just outside of Gotham City, and if you can get into the internal server and download all the data for half a year, I'm sure I can find out if there's any anomalous data in the distribution of military supplies from the internal server," Barbara said. But you know, we're not talking about a water treatment plant that is considered a den of thieves, but a heavily defended military base, right? It's not going to be as easy as getting anywhere else. β
"Of course I do." Roy said calmly, "The detailed structural diagram is ready, let's go now." β
Suburbs of Gotham City.
This is obviously still a large-scale military base, with three steps, one post, five steps and one sentry, and the guards are quite heavy. Among them, the guards guarding the armory are particularly dense, but fortunately, Roy's goal on this trip is not the armory.
Theoretically, it is impossible for idlers and others to enter this courtyard. Every person in the driver's seat of every vehicle entering and leaving must show the appropriate documents and be strictly checked, and in the case of trucks carrying goods, the bed must also be opened, and all goods must be inspected.
But when the truck passed the security checkpoint, no one thought to look under the chassis.
The truck was stopped at the designated position through the security check, the driver sat in the seat and smoked a cigarette, and the co-pilot climbed into the truck car to sort the goods. And taking advantage of this effort, no one noticed, the winged knight who was hiding on the chassis of the truck like a suction cup jumped down, and ran into the shadows of the building with his feet on his back.
"I'm in." Roy crouched in the shadows, clutching his headphones.
Barbara said, "Good, keep the momentum going. About a hundred meters to your right, separated by two buildings, is the room of the server hub. β
Like a silent ghost floating in the military area, Roy quickly and silently approached the target building.
He flew up to the top of the second-story building using the zipline, hanging from the edge and looking up. Upstairs there were two soldiers standing guard, both standing by the door, standing motionless, their eyes as sharp as those of falcons. Sure enough, a well-trained sentry is a bit more of a hassle than a patrol thug who likes to wander around.
He silently crouched behind the two of them, swept one of them down from behind with a sweeping leg, and then knocked them down with a head-on elbow strike like a cloud.
Another soldier exclaimed "hey", hurriedly pulled away from his feet, raised his gun in one hand and tried to reach the walkie-talkie on his chest with the other to issue a warning. But before he could make any moves, Roy had a tranquilizer dart thrown on his forehead, and the soldier fell to his head before he could do anything.
The door is fitted with a three-digit electronic combination lock. Roy is very good at picking general door locks, but the work of breaking through the combination lock is not his job, it is the responsibility of the oracle. At Barbara's instructions, he linked the mobile computer on his wrist to the password disk, and then saw the digital display of the electronic lock frantically shift. After more than 30 seconds, the three-digit number was fixed on the electronic display, and the door opened with a "click".
"Pretty."
Roy complimented and dodged inside.
Following Barbara's instructions, he quickly found the host where the main server was located, connected it to his mobile computer with a data cable, and began downloading the records from the server.
He couldn't help but wonder if it would be much easier if Barbara's leg was okay and Batgirl could sneak into such a place herself.
The answer seems to be yes.
Waiting is the hardest part. As the minutes ticked by, Roy stared at the progress bar on the projection screen and moved like a turtle, counting the percentage of download progress going up little by little, and it felt like he had been squatting here all night.
When the download progress had exceeded 95 percent, footsteps sounded outside.
"Hell." He muttered under his breath.
Outside the door, a soldier walked up the stairs to the top of the building, shouting, "Hey? Mike? You've got half an hour to change the guard, right? Going to the city for a drink in the evening"
Speaking of this, he swallowed back the second half of his sentence, apparently because he saw the two comrades who fell to the ground.
He hurriedly pulled out his gun and picked up the walkie-talkie: "There are intruders!" β
Roy's situation at this time is quite embarrassing, his arm is connected to the data cable to download data, and pulling out the data cable is to waste all the previous efforts, so even if one person comes in, it is very difficult to deal with.
Fortunately, the soldier outside saw the two comrades who fell to the ground, and he didn't know how many people broke into the main room, and he didn't dare to enter rashly, just holding a gun and guarding the door, waiting for backup.
Ninety-eight percent. Roy stared at the projected screen, silently muttering to himself.
Barbara said, "You don't need me to remind you that you know you're about to be surrounded, right?" β
"It's just a little bit there."
Ninety-nine percent.
At this time, there was already a circle of soldiers outside, and the leader of the team held a loudspeaker and shouted formatted words such as "disarm or kill, come out honestly" and so on, but his shouting bought Roy the last time to complete the download.
One hundred percent.
Almost as soon as Roy pulled out the cable, the team leader made the decision: "Rush in!" β
One by one, the gunmen rushed in. The room was dark, lit only by the faint glow of some of the lights of the electronic devices. Someone pressed the button of the switch, but the incandescent light overhead did not respond.
"Everything is fine on Team A's side."
"Team B's side too."
"Team C is also waiting, what did I find."
The flashlight on the tip of the gun pointed in one direction, and a circle of sparks faintly flashed at the edge of the ground was marked.
It was the mark of a high-temperature laser, and a hole was cut in the ground by the high-temperature laser, through which it was obvious that the intruder jumped to the first floor and escaped from the first floor.
Not long after entering the base, the truck driver was still smoking a cigarette in his driver's seat. Suddenly, the door of his car was pulled open and a man in a bat mask, dressed from head to toe, ripped him out of the driver's seat.
"What to do"
Roy jumped into his seat, twisted the key still in the car, lit the fire, and said in a hoarse voice, "Thank you for your help." Head to Gotham Port 52 tonight, where you can find the car. β
After saying that, Roy slammed the car door, and the accelerator pedal was instantly stepped on to the maximum, and the truck rushed out of the gate like a roaring beast with bullets in the face.
