Chapter 7: The Reappearance of the Living Corpse

While Vincent was in the conference room discussing the feasibility of waging war against the Japanese state, in the far west, an incredible thing happened.

It is a small basin on the edge of the desert, and in the center of the basin are scattered a dozen tents of various sizes. Now that the sun had just risen in the east, and smoke was curling from the top of the tents, the residents of the settlement had gotten up in the morning to make breakfast. Such settlements are common in many parts of the country, secluded and far away from dangerous cities.

One by one, people came out of the tents to chop wood or dry some jerky, and several women in the camp walked to the only deep well in the camp to start fetching water and washing clothes, holding a wooden basin full of clothes in their hands. It is a miracle that such a well can be dug in such a place near the desert, and it produces a lot of water.

The children frolicked and had fun in the camp, everything was so harmonious, everything was so comfortable.

Lao Xing was the leader of this camp, and during the civilized period, he was a hunter, and his decades of hunter life allowed him to practice good marksmanship and rich survival ability in the wild. When the disaster broke out, he relied on an old-fashioned shotgun handed down from his grandfather's generation to escape from their village with a dozen survivors from their village.

Lao Xing was undoubtedly a very qualified hunter, and he was unusually alert to danger, which caused him and his followers to pass by death again and again. Although there were only eight of the dozen or so people who had followed him when they fled to this barren area bordering the desert, they had risen from the pile of dead men and were more ferocious and fit to survive.

Soon after they arrived in the desert, Lao Xing chose the current basin and led a few people to dig the current deep well in one week. Not long after they had chosen to settle here, a group of city dwellers had fled to this place, driving their cars and running all the way, thirsty and hungry, almost dying. Lao Xing generously entertained them with the dried meat he had hunted and the cool spring water, and these city people, who had no experience in the wild at all, saw the environment and expressed their desire to settle down here.

Of course, Lao Xing has no opinion, at this time, the more people, the safer. So, Lao Xing took them out to hunt birds, rodents, ferns and everything else that could be eaten in the desert, and luckily they also caught a few camels, so that they could hunt more widely. In this way, although the resources in the desert are relatively poor, they can barely feed them.

Lao Xing soon occupied a leading position in this camp, and he was over 50 years old but not to be outdone, and he also chose the most beautiful girl among the city people to be his daughter-in-law. Although the girl was only 15 years old at the time, although the first time she was forced after Lao Xing was drunk, no matter how the girl resisted and struggled, Lao Xing finally succeeded. All the people in the camp watched this happen silently, but no one came out to stop it, but the next day Lao Xing hastily held a wedding, even if he had an explanation for them.

As usual, after doing some morning exercises on his beautiful little daughter-in-law every morning, Lao Xing sweated profusely and turned over happily. Then he got dressed and carried his shotgun on his back, and walked out of the tent humming an unknown ditty, and walked around the camp proudly like a male wolf patrolling his territory. Everyone in the camp would politely greet him when they saw him, which made Lao Xing's sense of accomplishment very strong.

The leadership position in the past few years has made the old hunter who was originally honest and honest now become greedy and snobbish, and almost all the women in the camp have been crawled by him, even those women who look a little sci-fi, and he has not let go of the hungry. It can be said that in this camp now, he can do whatever he wants, and he can do whatever he wants. In order to survive, everyone dared to be angry and did not dare to speak. In fact, such a situation is not uncommon, and in this chaotic period of loss of humanity, such a situation is being played out in many settlements. Compared to men, women have no strong muscles, no ability to protect themselves, and in this chaotic period when they have to rely on force to survive, their status is far lower than that of men, and in order to survive, their only bargaining chip is their own body.

Just when Lao Xing was still recalling the wonderful body of his little daughter-in-law, and the thrilling ** of the daughter-in-law of the second pillar next door who slept last night, suddenly, a figure appeared on the hillside in the distance. "Who's going to be here at this time?" Lao Xing looked at the figure who was getting closer and closer suspiciously, it was normal to see him walking, not like a zombie, but how could anyone come here at this time? I haven't had a stranger here in 3 years. "Who? Hold it. Lao Xing picked up his shotgun and yelled at the man. Lao Xing's voice immediately attracted the attention of the others, and the hunters who came out with Lao Xing picked up their shotguns and pointed them at the man who was still approaching their camp.

The man was getting closer and closer, and he was so close that he could see his whole picture clearly. I saw that he was wearing a black robe that was enough to cover his whole body, and he wrapped his whole body in the black robe, so that he could not see his face or speak.

Suddenly, Lao Xing's nose moved, no, there is no popularity on this person, only a smell of rotting corpses, it is not a person, it is a zombie. So he pulled the trigger without hesitation, and saw that Lao Xing had made a move, and the other hunters followed suit, and for a while, the violent gunfire crackled like firecrackers throughout the camp.

The biggest drawback of the old-fashioned shotgun was that it used black powder as propellant, and each shot would stir up a lot of smoke, and a dozen or so people fired at the same time, each grabbing two barrels, which stirred up smoke that almost filled half of the camp.

After the smoke finally cleared quietly, Lao Xing was terrified to find that although the black robe on the man's body had been beaten into a rag, he still walked towards them unhurriedly. Through his tattered hood, Lao Xing could even see the rotten muscles and a green eye under his hood.

Is it a zombie? But why didn't the zombies get shot at all? If the zombies I encountered before had been attacked so violently, they would have been beaten into a pile of minced flesh long ago. But how does this zombie seem to be uninjured at all? You must know that Lao Xing's shotgun bullets are all made by themselves, and the bullets used to deal with zombies are different from those used for hunting, but the bullets for fighting zombies have increased the amount of gunpowder several times, and the power is almost catching up with the pistol bullets.

But why is this zombie unharmed? Not only Lao Xing, but everyone in the camp was dumbfounded, so much so that when he walked up to a woman who was standing still, she didn't react. I saw it walk up to the woman, and suddenly bite her neck, and the blood on her body was sucked away by it at a speed visible to the naked eye. Soon, the woman twitched twice, and then she didn't move.
