Chapter 123: Ten Plagues of Egypt (2)
Looking at Pharaoh's distant back, Moses didn't know what to do.
Then a voice came to his ear: "Since Pharaoh will not obey your request, then I will turn all the water in Egypt into blood, even in the pots and pans of the kitchen." ”
And from that day on, there was a miracle in Egypt, and all the rivers and streams, and wells, and all the water in the dwellings that were used for the water, were turned into blood, and the smell was terrible, and the Egyptians dug pits on the banks of the rivers, and all the blood that came out of the ground was so undrinkable that they could not drink it.
The whole of Egypt was in a panic, and the pharaoh summoned the sorcerers to sacrifice to the gods and pray that the calamity would disappear, but no matter what, the blood could not be turned back into its original water.
For the first time, Pharaoh felt helpless, and he called Moses and asked, "What do you want?" ”
Moses calmly said, "Grant my request to lead the Israelites out of Egypt." ”
Pharaoh was ambivalent, but his pride prevented him from acceding to Moses' request, saying: "Even if all the rivers in Egypt dry up, I will not spare the Israelites." Don't try to scare me with such spells! If you don't let the river turn clear again, I'll put you to death at once!" ”
Moses said, "If you do not agree to my request, I will cause another plague to befall in Egypt." Frogs will breed in the river, and they will be everywhere, in your palace, in your bedroom, in your bed. They also went into the homes of all Egyptians. ”
The Pharaoh roared, "I see how dare you! ”
Moses turned away and said lightly, "It starts tonight." ”
Pharaoh issued an order: "Kill him!" ”
The guards rushed forward with their scimitars raised, and slashed at Moses. At this moment, a white light flashed, and all the guards were knocked out by a huge force, and the scimitar fell to the ground, but Moses walked out of the palace unharmed and elegant.
That very night, the Nile water was filled with countless foams, and the silence of the night was broken by the chirping of frogs all day. Countless frogs left the river, landed on the riverbank, and swarmed everywhere with unstoppable momentum.
In just one night, there were frogs all over Egypt, and the Egyptians could not kill them, because more frogs kept pouring out of the river, and Egypt became a sea of frogs.
The pharaoh's palace was not spared, and the great king was kept up and down by sticky frogs jumping around.
Pharaoh called Moses, and when he saw him, he smiled and said, "Beloved Moses, let this frog leave my palace quickly, and I will allow you to go and sacrifice to your gods, shall you do so?" ”
Moses said, "He is not our God, but the God of all things in this world, and we go to sacrifice, but what about you?" ”
Pharaoh said, "I have been merciful enough that you Israelites may sacrifice to the gods." This is a quid pro quo. ”
Moses nodded and said, "All right! ””
When he had said this, he fell on his knees and prayed, "My lord, let all the frogs on the land die, except for the frogs in the river." ”
As soon as he finished speaking, he saw that all the frogs around him died in an instant, and at the same time, all the frogs outside the river in Egypt also died.
Piles of frog carcasses were exposed to the sun, rotting and emitting a foul stench in the scorching summer.
Pharaoh was relieved to see that the frogs were gone, and he said to Moses, "Go first." ”
Moses asked, "You have said that we may sacrifice to the gods!" ”
Pharaoh waved his hand and said, "Let this matter go for a while." ”
Moses did not argue, but turned and left.
Although the frogs were dead, from that day onwards all the dust in Egypt turned into fleas and swept around like a tornado, and the Egyptians were once again plunged into disaster.
Pharaoh went to the altar to sacrifice, and on the way, when he saw Moses standing in the crowd smiling at him, he stopped his chariot and pointed to Moses and said, "All this is your work again?" ”
Moses said, "If you don't let me lead the Israelites out of Egypt, the flies will be all over Egypt, and all the Egyptians will be surrounded by flies, but the Israelites in Egypt won't!" This is God's punishment for you. ”
Pharaoh said, "I will not accept such intimidation!" ”
As soon as the words fell, fleas flew everywhere like flies, and the Egyptians were terrified, but helpless. The flies were bothering everywhere, but they did not touch the Israelites, and all this was seen by Pharaoh.
Pharaoh seemed to have compromised, and he called Moses and said, "Go, go and sacrifice to your gods, for this is my grace to you!" ”
Moses said, "Where is the sacrifice?" ”
Pharaoh said, "It's in the city!" ”
Moses said, "That won't work! The Egyptians believe in you, and if we Israelites sacrifice to the gods, won't the Egyptians stone us to death when they see it? ”
Pharaoh asked, "Where do you want to sacrifice?" ”
Moses said, "We Israelites are to assemble ourselves and go out of the city three times and sacrifice to the gods in the wilderness." ”
Pharaoh nodded and said, "Yes, as long as you can get these damned flies out of Egypt, I will grant you all the conditions." ”
Moses knelt on the ground again and prayed to Yang Rui, who heard Moses' call and turned all the flies away, and Egypt was exposed to disaster.
That night, all the Israelites in Memphis received the news that they could go out of the city to worship the gods, because they knew that the gods were protecting them from all kinds of calamities.
They ran to tell each other and prepared their sacrificial offerings until the sun rose the next day.
When the sun had just risen the next day, Moses led his people toward the city gates, with his cane.
However, when they reached the city gates, the heavy bronze gates were tightly closed.
Moses guarded the city: "Why don't you open the gates?" ”
The guard replied, "Pharaoh has just issued an order that no Israelite should step beyond Memphis." ”
Moses said, "But Pharaoh promised us to go out of the city and worship the gods." ”
The guard raised his scimitar and threatened: "Get back to work!" This is Pharaoh's command! ”
As soon as Moses wanted to speak, he heard Yang Rui's voice ringing in his ears: "When you go to Pharaoh, you will let the people go out of the city to sacrifice, and if you do not agree, you will have the whole land of Egypt infected with the plague, but not the cattle of the Israelites." ”
Moses turned and went to the palace, saw Pharaoh and asked, "Why don't you let the Israelites go to the sacrifice, this is what you promised." ”
Pharaoh said, "The construction of my mausoleum has been delayed for too long. If you Israelites can finish it on time, I will think about your sacrifice to the gods. ”
Moses said, "If you repeat this, God will punish you." All Egyptian horses, donkeys, cattle, sheep, and camels will be infected with the plague! And the Israelites won't! Tomorrow the plague will come! ”
After saying this, Moses left the palace without looking back. As he walked out of the palace, Moses said to the air, "Is it okay to say that I said that there will be a plague tomorrow?" ”
Yang Rui's laughter came from the air and said, "Since you said it, I will definitely help you." Tomorrow the plague will come upon Egypt! (To be continued.) )
