A few months ago, after Li Bing's first visit, Zen Master Kongming registered for Li Bing's layman certificate, and now, the March inspection period has expired, when Li Bing rushed back to Qixia Ancient Temple from Chenjia Village yesterday, Zen Master Kongming handed over the layman card to Li Bing. Li Bing also officially converted to Buddhism and became a lay disciple of the Buddha.
In the main hall, the monks are divided into two sides, and the higher the rank, the more they stand in front. The monks of the meditation hall are located in front of the monks of the Buddha Hall, and the last row is the Yunshui monk, and the ranks of the laymen are behind the Yunshui monks. After the morning class, the monks and lay people left the hall and went back to the hall to rest, and Li Bing followed Zen Master Kongming to his meditation room.
Li Bing reverently put his hands together and asked Zen Master Kongming and said, "Master, what does the sentence 'color is emptiness, emptiness is color' chanted by the monks just now?" ”
Zen Master Kongming said lightly: "This sentence comes from the Prajnaparamita Heart Sutra, which is a concise, profound, outlined, and extremely important sutra in the Prajna Sutra series, which is a Buddhist scripture that Mahayana Buddhist monks and lay Buddhists recite daily. ”
"The 'relics' mentioned in the sutra are not the Buddha's bone relics left behind by the Buddha's nirvana, but refer to the Buddha's 'ten disciples', known as the 'wisdom first'. This sutra is a record of Sariputta and Avalokiteshvara on self-nature, with emptiness as the main theme. ”
The color in the Heart Sutra is not the color that worldly people understand, but refers to the material of the world. Emptiness does not mean non-existence, but refers to the four stages of birth, dwelling, sickness, and death, and obtaining does not mean eternity. ”

Li Bing fell into deep thought, and said after a while: "Master, I understand a little, this sutra is about 'Prajna is empty'. Just like the terrible and strange things we have experienced along the way, in fact, everything has its own providence, and some people are destined to die, no matter how they are saved, they still can't escape the fate of death in the end. ”
What Li Bing was thinking at this time was that he and Zhao Wan'er and his party wanted to unlock the secret of Qianling, whether it was providence or their forcible actions.
Zen Master Kong Ming smiled on the side and said, "Li Bing, you have just entered the Buddhist sect and are my Buddhist lay disciples. There are many things you still don't understand, this "Heart Sutra" has the least number of words, it is easy to memorize, it is not easy to understand, you can memorize it first, and then slowly understand it. ”
Li Bing asked again: "Master, what do you explain in each of the two other scriptures that you recommended me to read?" ”
Zen Master Kongming said slowly: "The Diamond Sutra is a compilation of the dialogue between the Buddha and Venerable Subodhi, one of the ten great disciples, and his disciples when he passed away. ”
"The scriptures speak of all worldly things as objects of cognition, and that the reality is right and wrong; He advocates that one should be separated from all appearances and should have a mind without dwelling, that is, with love and without love, and with the wisdom of Prajna to prove emptiness, and to break all appearances, so as to achieve a state of not being attached to any one thing and realizing the emptiness of the reality of all dharmas. ”
"The Buddha said that after his death, 500 years will be the period of Dharma-rectification. The next 500 years are the period of the image; The next thousand years will be the end of the Dharma period. Extrapolating, it is now the period of the end of the Dharma, there are many pseudo-Buddhas, and the evil teachers say that the Dharma is like the sand of the Ganges. The Diamond Sutra is the mother of all scriptures, and those who are consistent with the teachings of the Diamond Sutra are the canons; What is contrary to the teachings of the Diamond Sutra is apocrypha. ”
Li Bing was a little dazed, he sighed and said: "This scripture is broad and profound, I seem to understand it when I look at it, but I can't fully understand its meaning. ”
Zen Master Kongming smiled and said, "How easy is it to truly understand any Buddhist scripture?" True cultivation for a lifetime cannot fully understand the true meaning of a sutra. Those who obtain the true meaning of the scriptures are either Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. You can understand this in reality. ”
Li Bing nodded and continued to ask: "Then what is the third scripture book you recommended me to read, "The Great Buddha Crowning Lengyan Sutra", what is it explained?" ”
Zen Master Kongming Zhengse said: "Li Bing, you have encountered many supernatural things and many mysteries, so the "Lengyan Sutra" is very important to you, this is a scripture that helps people understand the truth of the universe. The whole scripture begins with the destruction of the demon and ends with the destruction of the demon. According to this treasure book, only sentient beings at the end of the Dharma can hope to gain correct faith, correct understanding, correct understanding, and correct cultivation in this Fa-rectification, and not be diverted, confused, or destroyed by all kinds of evil and foreign paths. ”
Li Bing understood what Zen Master Kongming meant, and bowed to Zen Master Kongming to show his gratitude.
After bidding farewell to Zen Master Kongming, after having a vegetarian meal in the temple, Zhang Yuanshan sat cross-legged on the bed and practiced Taoist qi. Li Bing felt so bored, he took a scroll of the Lengyan Sutra and came to the relics pagoda of Qixia Temple.
There are still a few days to go before the New Year, the weather is still very good, there is not a trace of wind, the sun is shining on people, warm.
Li Bing read the Lengyan Sutra for a while, and felt that it was much easier to understand than the Heart Sutra and the Diamond Sutra, and the scriptures told a short story, which described all kinds of demons and monsters and methods to ward off evil spirits and eliminate demons.

In a daze, he felt a sudden gust of wind around him, and he shivered. Li Bing slowly opened his eyes, and unconsciously gasped, only to see that there was a vast cloud and mist around him, and in the thick fog, he vaguely saw several figures walking towards him.
Li Bing looked at it, and a cold sweat immediately poured out of his back. I saw that in the thick fog, Yu Ru, Ruizhu and more than a dozen other people who were already dead, stretched out their hands expressionlessly and slowly approached him.
Li Bing wanted to run, but his legs didn't obey him, and he sat on the ground softly, terrified in his heart.
Just as the ghosts surrounded him and were about to stretch out their hands in front of him, they suddenly saw a golden light burst out of the surroundings.
A big Buddha appeared in the air, chanting the six-character mantra 'Om Ma Bang Mi Mi', and his body radiated ten thousand golden rays of light to the surroundings, dispelling the dense fog.
In that golden light, Li Bing was surprised to see that with the recitation of the Buddha, six golden characters in the mantra appeared in the golden light, surrounding the surroundings and constantly swirling.
With the swirling of the six golden characters, Li Bing was surprised to see that six golden rays of light also burst out from the six relics pagodas around him, and fireballs rose from the relics pagodas one after another.
"Buddha bone relics", Li Bing's heart suddenly moved, it was the manifestation of the relics.
The six relics hovered for a while, and at the same time emitted a dazzling light, only to hear the dozen or so ghosts around them scream and disappear without a trace.
To Li Bing's surprise, the six relics rushed towards him from six directions.
When the six relics burrowed into Li Bing's body, he vaguely felt that the six relics merged with the Vermilion Bird Qi in his body before, and he felt indescribably comfortable.
As the relics entered his body, the golden light around him had disappeared, and the great Buddha had disappeared.
Suddenly, Li Bing felt a sharp pain in his forehead. After a brief moment of confusion, he realized that he had just dreamed. Lying on his back in front of the stupa, the 'Lengyan Sutra' he was holding in both hands was covering his chest, but his head hit the stupa, and then he woke up in pain.
Li Bing turned over and got up, knelt down to the stupas one by one, only to find that the sun was about to sink in the west, no wonder he felt cold.
Li Bing took the 'Lengyan Sutra' and hurried back to the dormitory where he and Zhang Yuanshan were staying.
