Chapter 6 Dai Ning Session
On the slope of a dirt mountain, there are no weeds, no trees, intricately scattered with countless small square earthen houses, you can't see the end on both sides, this building complex must be not small, if there is aerial photography, it should feel like some kind of animal colony nest, and standing outside the door, I am one of the ants. At the foot of the mountain is a very wide river, with few stones and no plants growing on the riverside, and there is sand everywhere, and the breeze blows through and rolls up bursts of yellow sand, giving people the feeling of desolation.
I was curious and asked the people in the house, "What is this place?" How do you feel the Yellow River basin on the Loess Plateau? ā
The fat brother smiled and said: "I don't know, I don't know much about geography, we walked all the way to get here, thanks to the monks here, otherwise everyone wouldn't be able to live." ā
Suzhna said: "I have already called my superiors, and according to the GPS positioning, we should still be in Mongolia now, close to Russia." ā
The fat brother pointed to his ear: "You listen, you can find it by following the sound of collecting the tatters." ā
I carefully used my ears to distinguish the various timbres in the wind, and I could indeed faintly hear the clanging of pots and irons, so I walked in the direction of the sound like a right hand.
On the way, we passed by many houses, and each door was covered with a cotton curtain, and the door curtain was tightly covered, and the interior furnishings were probably similar to the one we lived in.
The weather here is not cold, and it is also summer, the dusk sun shines down, the temperature is almost close to forty degrees, the thick door curtain is certainly not to keep out the cold, eighty percent is to block the wind and sand, and the coolness of the room is estimated to be related to blocking the sun.
I didn't meet the residents here along the way, and I began to mumble a little in my heart, looking at the state of this place, it seems to be the kind of ancient civilization ruins that no one has lived in for tens of thousands of years, fat brother, should they encounter any bizarre things like immortality?
The more I walked, the more unreal it became, in such a hot weather, a chill began to feel behind me, am I dreaming? Actually, my body is still lying in bed and not waking up?
I didn't dare to think about it, but following the sound of tapping that was getting closer and closer to me, I quickened my pace, and the sound seemed to be magical, leading me straight forward.
After walking for a while, I saw a tall building of indescribable style, this building covers an area that is not very large, and a rough estimate is about thirty meters square, but the building is very high, plus the top high spire, it is as high as a ten-story building.
The spires are strange, like the building itself, they are made of loess, and they look a bit like lightning rods, and they are arranged in a staggered manner, like the tall towers of a castle in a fairy tale world.
The building, like the other huts, is windowless, and I guess it was due to the windy and sandy environment here, and the builders deliberately did not open the windows to prevent the wind and sand from invading.
However, the most important feature of this abrupt building is not its larger size, but the loess used to build it.
The other houses are just ordinary loess, perhaps carved out of the loess hillside as a whole, or built with mud bricks, except for the strange architectural style.
This building is different, the loess used to build it, it seems to be mixed with some minerals, these minerals are not embedded in the soil of the surface layer of the building, according to the distribution of those small gold dots in the soil, I guess that the shovel shoveled a meter thick on the wall, and it should be like this.
Under the sunlight, the whole tall building is like a big gold brick falling from the sky, flashing with golden light.
I secretly wondered if this big house was made of loess mixed with golden sand, right? The inhabitants of this slum-like community are really squandering.
I myself have summed up a truth, any nation that is not moved by money, that must be a nation with faith, as long as it is a nation with faith, it must not be very easy to get along with, not that they are not kind, they are more or less different from ordinary people, there are always some taboos, etiquette and strange bottom lines that cannot be crossed.
For example, those who believe in God cannot eat food with blood, those who believe in Allah cannot eat mammals other than cows, sheep, deer, and camels, and those who believe in Buddha simply cannot eat meat.
Thinking of this, I looked at the clothes on my body, and recalled the bald head of the fat brother, as well as the strange murals on the walls of the earthen house, I judged that this place should be believed in the Buddha, and it is a branch of Tibetan Buddhism, and some special gods are worshipped.
I went around for a long time to find the front of the building, this building has a gate, and I thought on the way, how big is this curtain? Looks like I'm thinking too much.
The door is a wooden arch connected with iron sheets and large rivets, four or five meters high, looks very solemn and magnificent, on the earthen walls on both sides of the gate, there are also two arched false doors, there is a strange statue of the god inside the door, the strangeness of the appearance is no less than that of Puba Vajra.
"Encounter the three arches and enter." I remembered the admonition of Patriarch Bodhidharma, and I couldn't wait to push open the big wooden door.
The moment I opened the wooden door, I was stunned, and I said that there seemed to be no one living in the houses all over the mountain, and I guess all the residents were gathered in this building.
The room was densely packed with heads, including men and women, and the robes on their bodies were also varied, and the only thing in common was that both men and women were bald.
These people were all sitting on the ground with their eyes closed, and many of them were hammering all kinds of magic weapons in their hands.
There was an open space in the middle of the crowd, and Dai Ning crossed his legs, his hands knotted with the Dharma seal, floating in the air flickeringly, and his mouth was like singing a song singing a verse I didn't understand.
The other believers were not idle, and their mouths were also humming to the rhythm of Dai Ning, which was quite pleasant to the ear.
The interior decoration makes me feel like I have entered another world, where the carved beams and paintings are splendid, and the golden Buddha statue with eight rings on the front is solemn.
On the long platform in front of the Buddha statue, there are all kinds of magic instruments, what demon pestle, sword, bronze sword, prayer wheel, and many I can't name, small Buddha shrines, ceramic bottles, rattles, hand bells, everything.
In front of each seated person, a lotus lamp is placed, on which a candle of length or length is lit, illuminating the whole hall beautifully.
Even the floor of this hall is covered with carpets of various colors and patterns. It is in stark contrast to the scene of the impoverished buildings outside.
It must be that Dai Ning has religious exchanges with them, everyone believes in Buddhism, and foreign monks can chant scriptures, so I asked Dai Ning to open a special session here, I guess Dai Ning doesn't know where he learned these things.
I was afraid that I would be beaten by the group again if I disturbed others, so I quickly closed the door behind me, blocked the last rays of sunlight and the sneakers I took off, found a place to the side, picked a bald girl with beautiful eyebrows, and sat down next to her. Follow the example of everyone else, close your eyes, listen to everyone sing, and I'll ask them when they're done.
I didn't listen to it for a while, but I suddenly felt that this sutra was quite interesting, the melody was long and melodious, sometimes sonorous and frustrating, sometimes soft and soothing, and I even closed my eyes and hummed along with the scale.
As I was singing, the room suddenly fell silent, and I opened my eyes to look at the others, and everyone also opened their eyes to look at Dai Ning who was standing in the middle.
One of the old men was the first to stand up, placed a copper bowl and a small hammer in his hand on the long platform in front of the Buddha statue, bowed to Dai Ning with his hands together, and walked out of the door without speaking.
The others were also very orderly, starting with the people sitting in the innermost, one by one to greet Dai Ning, and Dai Ning also returned the salute one by one, and then walked out of the hall from the main entrance in a long line.
At last, the little nun beside me also got up and left, smiling brightly at me before leaving.
I don't know if she laughed at me for singing badly just now, or if she fell in love with me as a handsome guy, anyway, that smile must have a good impression of me.
It is said that it is really happy to be able to recite the scriptures, and I only now feel the mystery of this sentence, and my heart is beautiful.
