Chapter 1 Reboot on
The world is like a book, turning a new page.
Change is coming quietly. When the change that belongs to the world comes, there are no slogans, no guns, no stirring speeches, it simply arrives and descends in a bloody twilight.
Most of the capable people are ignorant of change, and in their opinion, the new day will make no difference. Only a very small number of perceptive people have felt it, and among them there are many occult abilities. But there are very few who can communicate with the world, and it is difficult to say whether it is good or bad. After all, in the occult there is both true luck and broken fate...... Many mutated creatures don't know what kind of change has occurred, but suddenly they find that their behavior has changed. Some of the mutated creatures with rudimentary or even advanced intelligence tremble in their nests, and even the courage to flee has been lost.
For ordinary people who are incapable, no matter what the world has become, it has nothing to do with them, and even they welcome change. No matter how much it changes, fate can't get worse, can it?
Among the human race, the incapable ordinary people still occupy the vast majority, but compared to the various mutated creatures, the human race has no advantage in numbers at all, and has gradually lost its former dominance in intelligence...... In the vast world beyond the area of human activity, I don't know how many creatures are rapidly mutating and evolving, waiting to take over the domination of the world. But the process is not so simple, because human beings are capable. The advantage of the capable over most mutated creatures is as obvious as the advantage of humans over beasts in the old days. However, in the eyes of some forerunners, humanity is being divided into two species: the capable and the human.
The world has changed, but only a very small number of beings who stand above all beings have noticed the change and are awe-inspiring...... Because change is closely related to them, and for the vast majority of living beings, it doesn't matter at all whether they change or not.
No matter how the world changes, the sun will rise as usual. That's what the average person thinks.
That's what Sally thought, too, when she woke up again after a night full of nightmares. She moved her aching and heavy body and crawled off the creaking iron bed. The cold wind that penetrated through the cracks in the door and window made her shiver, so she hurriedly put on a thick coat, and then she felt better...... She pushed open the nailed window and looked out, but it was still dark and dreary, with only a little light on the horizon. Most of the lights in the settlement were dark, and people were still asleep after a hard day's work. Sally woke up earlier than usual, mainly because she didn't sleep well last night. But looking at the world that should be familiar, she suddenly felt a strange feeling.
She was already familiar with the camp, and even the area of dozens of kilometers around the camp. It's not just familiar, she remembers every slight change in the terrain, and the accuracy can be as high as meters...... She is aware of past weather changes in the area, as well as possible underground minerals, and has a good understanding of the river's flow and water quality. Sally has an amazing memory, and she remembers hundreds of books in detail. A small pond of five terraced pools has now been built around the settlement, which can provide barely drinkable water. The combination of minerals and plants around Tongguò has increased the resistance of the inhabitants to radiation, and several new edible crops have been found that can be planted in large quantities in the spring...... If their genes are stable, they will be able to feed between three and five thousand people after five to six years.
A qiē looks so good.
But for Sally, a bright future has been forged with time and sweat, and she knows how fragile the foundation of this qiē is. She slept only five hours a day, and she was constantly busy, and the knowledge she had accumulated over the course of more than a year of riding the Dark Dragoon was being transformed into pure water, food, and healing medicines. She brought nearly a thousand people out of the confines of the council, avoided the fighting, and managed to keep them alive in the first winter...... But this is just the beginning, and it's actually the easiest one. In order to develop further, it is necessary to establish a mature and complete industrial system. Not to mention where the machine comes from, energy alone is a problem that cannot be solved by both hands.
Another issue is security. So far, the settlement has encountered only one attack by a small armed mob and has managed to repel them. But that's because when they migrated, they brought with them enough weapons and ammunition, which were not replenishable...... Another important reason is that there are more than a dozen capable people in the team, most of whom were once servants of the dragoons, and have combat skills that the mob simply cannot match.
But the experience of Dragon City has taught Sally that if she encounters two or three low-level dragon riders, every Qiē here will collapse like a castle made of sand.
There was another crisp tapping sound in the camp, and Sally knew that the priest was carving again. In the settlement, it seems that the priest is the hardest working person. Every day, he got up before dawn, carved statues of gods, built churches and altars, and taught the teachings to the faithful, and did not rest until late at night...... But from another point of view, he seems to be a completely useless person. At least not engaged in any productive work.
Sally never doubted the existence of the priest, and in her opinion, only the priest could find a way forward for the people of the settlement. She was not a believer, and she thought this way only based on admiration for the priest's profound knowledge, as well as a woman's intuition. The temperature was very low and it was dark, and she was supposed to sleep for another hour, but Sally couldn't sleep at all, so she simply pushed the door open and walked towards the place where the carving sound came from......
The current church is just a wooden house with a high point, and the altar is a stone round platform in front of the church. All of them were built by the priest himself, stone by stone. Strikingly, there are seven statues of the apostles surrounding the altar, five of which have been completed, and the priest is carving the sixth apostle, while the seventh statue is currently only a stone. There was no light at the carving site, and with just a little light from the sky, the priest was able to complete the carving. When the fifth apostle statue was carved, the altar suddenly had an aura of solemnity, gloom, darkness, and desolation, and everyone who passed by couldn't help but lower their voices and quickly pass through the shrine. But when the five apostles were carved, the number of priests suddenly increased and counted.
The five statues of the apostles that have been completed are almost identical, but if you look closely, you will find that they have very different temperaments, and if you look at them for a long time, you will even have the illusion that these statues have a life of their own.
And Sally, as she passed by churches and altars, felt more than once as if the apostles were silently watching her from behind.
Moments before dawn, Sally came to the altar again, silently watching the priest busy with his work. With a feminine sensibility, she noticed that the sixth apostle was very different from the previous five, it was more slender, but it also had the same deep sense of power, even more so. And it had a thin scratch on its face, which was originally a very inconspicuous flaw, but in Sally's opinion, it was very glaring, and it became the most striking feature of the Sixth Apostle. T
