Chapter 20: The Warden's Secret
The warden put the newspaper in his hand on the table and asked Frankimir nonchalantly, "Would you like a cup of coffee?" ”
"No, thanks, I don't drink that, I only drink." Frankimir squeezed out an embarrassed smile, and he wondered what the warden was looking for him to do, and the more polite the warden's attitude, the more uneasy Frankimir felt.
"I'm sorry, but I can't accommodate your little request. Alcohol is not allowed in the Gulag, not only for the inmates, but also for the prison guards who work here. Of course, they can drink it in their own dormitories. The warden sought Frank Mir's forgiveness.
"Nothing, I can understand it. Sometimes alcohol is more harmful than dupin. Francill couldn't figure out why the warden was so polite.
"Did you read the newspaper? The newspaper said that the Wellington party had won the general election in England, and the last time they formed a government was a hundred years ago, and it seemed that Britain was becoming more and more radical. They are arrogant and arrogant, and the cold war between the former cabinet government and us seems to them too gentle. They want to turn the cold war into a hot war, gather all reactionary forces, and launch an all-out war against us. In my opinion, they are nothing more than a rabble, jumping clowns, who only know how to pull votes with oily heads and noodles. Don't forget, all reactionaries are paper tigers. It's scary, but that's what it's all about. In addition, Cassitia's New Spain movement has begun to make American stoic unbearable, which is good news. They stood idly by while we aided the Spanish Revolution, and for the country in distress, fascism rose much faster than one might expect. There are also those 'foggy moon mechas' in France, in the Algerian independence movement, there were actually more than fifteen mechas, which exploded due to overheating of the boiler. It seems that they are mechanically illiterate by nature, and they are stupid pedants who only daze at the fossils of prehistoric creatures, dreaming and loving women all day long. No wonder Hitler beat them to the brim, and for a reason. It's a pity that the era of Napoleon is gone forever, oh! Poor France, as desperate as their tainted wines. ”
Frankie Mire listened indifferently and nodded in agreement, he didn't care about current affairs and politics, but he could understand and know such a person as the warden. There are such people everywhere, and some of them don't even know where to eat tomorrow, but they are worried about the country and the people and do not forget the international situation. People like the warden, their daily conversations are inseparable from these current affairs and politics, as if they have experienced every event.
Maybe the warden likes to talk about the international situation, but Frank Mire knows better that this is not just a precautionary greeting, he still has something to say to him, but he doesn't know at all what the warden will say next. He always talks about him, and that proves that he doesn't have to say things easy.
"I don't think it's too early." Frank Mire grew a little impatient at the warden's tirade.
"Alright, let's get down to business. Do you know why I'm looking for you? The warden asked, provoking his small eyes and looking at Frank Mire.
"I don't know." Frankimir shook his head sharply.
"Do you want to know?" The warden pouted.
"I don't want to." Frankimir shook his head very dryly.
"Oh, I kind of understand why you were sent here even if you were not guilty." The warden snorted.
"Why?" Frankie Mill stared at the warden with wide eyes.
"Just because of your dismissive attitude." The warden nodded heavily
"My attitude ruined me?" Franky Mill asked, as if seeking answers.
"I don't know, but I know for sure that it's a key factor. We are always ready to dedicate our lives to the liberation of all mankind, to give everything for our great cause, even our own lives. And you act like a nobody, yes, if you continue like this, you will only degenerate to the point of no return. Young people should have a sincere heart and work tirelessly for our ultimate victory. If we have many enemies, many countries in the world and their reactionary governments regard us as mortal enemies and try to sabotage our great cause. Therefore, we should be strict with ourselves, always be vigilant, and never allow the enemy to take advantage of it. ”
"I think I'll reflect on it." Frankimir kept nodding.
"It's better to wait for time, you are slowly reflecting." The warden glanced at Frank Mill with contempt.
"I agree! The greater the career, the sooner you should start. Can you tell me what you came to me for? Frankie Mill grinned.
"I'll tell you bluntly, I need you to help me do something, the sooner the better, every second." The warden's expression became solemn.
"What's the matter?" From the warden's face, Franky Mill realized some kind of danger.
"We've had some horrific events here, and it's almost mad." The warden nodded blankly, as if he was thinking about how to express it.
"Sounds scary." Frankie Mill pursed his lips.
"If you see it with your own eyes, it's even more terrifying." The warden grimaced.
"Huh? Is the warden's hobby a midnight radio thriller? Frankimir felt a little more and more mysterious.
"I'm not in the mood for a joke."
"I'm listening."
"It happened three months ago, when a female prisoner in the West Institute mysteriously disappeared. At first we thought she had escaped from prison, but it was all due to our negligence. What is shocking is that even the male prisoners in the East Prison have never successfully escaped from prison, and they will let a female prisoner succeed. This made me feel disappointed with the work of '2371' as a guard, but I soon realized that I was wrong, as the body of the female prisoner was quickly discovered. Her body was abandoned near a storehouse, covered in torn and bitten scars, most of her internal organs were mutilated, I had never seen such a horrible killer, it was simply creepy. ”
At this point, the warden remembered sixty-seven corpses in the pine forest, which had also been badly bitten, disemboweled, and all of their livers were gone. Thinking of this, Frank Mill couldn't help but ask, "So is his liver still there?" ”
"Well, I knew you'd be interested in it, you secret police." The warden glanced triumphantly at Frank Mire.
"I just thought about some things, I didn't know if there was a connection, and that's something that happened to me at work." Frankie Mill shrugged.
Hearing Frank Mire mention a similar incident, there was a glimmer of hope in the warden's eyes, and it might not be long before it came to light.
