Chapter 10: Red Falls
On the night of the prom, the students entered the gymnasium's converted prom hall in pairs of suits and long skirts.
The parking lot is full of cars, and no one wants to walk with their girlfriends or take the bus to school.
Zhou Zhou drove the car into the parking lot next to the new wing of the school, and finally found a parking space and parked the car.
He left the engine idling for a while and turned off the fire. Lucy sat in the passenger seat, wearing an off-the-shoulder dress with a black background, which outlined her figure.
Zhou Zhou opened the car door for her and helped her get out of the car.
Lucy straightened her clothes up and down. Zhou Zhou looked at her and said, "You are so beautiful." Just like Fan Bingbing. β
"Who is Fan Bingbing?" Lucy blinked her blue eyes.
"Wellββββ Chinese star......" Zhou Zhou pulled Lucy into the hall while talking nonsense.
He glanced around.
Directly in front of you is a platform more than a meter above the ground. Two white chairs with white backrests are placed on it, and the chairs are decorated with gold paper and flowers.
Above the platform is a curtain that has been rolled up. Zhou Zhou knew that there was an iron bucket hanging behind it.
On either side of the platform there are two LCD screens. Donna Tibodo and Anna Brecken sit in front of their computers by the wall and choose the right dance music to play. Both of them were wearing flesh-colored gauze dresses and looked like wonderful girls from India.
George Dawson and Frida Jason stand by the drink machine. Frida wore an orange mesh dress that looked a bit like a cello in an orchestra.
When Zhou Zhou led Lucy in, everyone looked behind him. He and Lucy turned around to see a nervous smile on their faces Carrie and Tommy holding her.
Tommy is dressed in a white suit and black trousers, and his smile is sunny. Carrie looked much prettier in a pale rose dress.
Zhou Zhou has never understood why a girl like Carrie is bullied, even if she has such a religious fanatic mother. He looked at Carrie's somewhat childish face, and suddenly thought if it was because she was too young.
Indeed, compared to the fifteen-year-old and mature female classmates in the school, she does seem young.
"You're so beautiful! It's like (Cinderella) Cinderella, I almost don't recognize it. Zhou Zhou praised.
"Thank you." Carrie looked down and smiled shyly, then whispered, "But I hope they recognize me." β
In a few hours, the whole of America will know about you.
Zhou Zhou said secretly in his heart.
The only thing he likes about the new version of Carrie the witch is that Carrie is covered in blood and her head is scattered. He had always thought that Carrie's current fluffy gold was very gaudy.
Zhou Zhou looked at Tommy again and said, "Thank you for helping me out of the toilet last time." β
"You can handle it without me. I was impressed with the kick you gave Jack. I also watched it twice on youtube. Tommy shook his head and smiled, then waved his hand at Lucy, "Hey, Lucy, I'm still curious about who your dance partner is, it turns out to be a big celebrity at school recently!" β
Zhou Zhou looked at Tommy, who was smiling at the scene, and knew that he had less than two hours to live.
Tommy chatted with Zhou Zhou for a while, and then took Carrie to chat with the others.
Little by little, time passed.
First Song: Billy Bosnan Band
Song 2: Yossi and the Green Sun Band
Next up: theatrical programs
Soon when Zhou Zhou danced the sixth dance, it was already half past nine. Coronation: 1o:oo is about to begin. Everyone votes for the prom emperor and empress and sends them to the platform for coronation.
Graduating Prefect Vic Mooney happily shouted into the microphone, "All right, ladies and gentlemen, please take your seats." Now it's time to vote. We will elect the queen and queen of the ball. β
"Please take a seat!" Vic said with a grin into the microphone. He grinned and blushed with excitement as he pinched a pimple on his chin with his fingers. Behind him, the huge Venetian gondolier looked dreamily over his shoulder.
"Start voting."
Zhou Zhou and Lucy sat down. Mimeographed ballots for Tina Black and Norma Watson. Norma placed a ballot paper on their table and whispered, "Good luck!" β
Zhou Zhou picked up the ballot and studied it.
"Write Carrie and Tommy." Lucy winked slyly at Zhou Zhou.
"Why?" Zhou Zhou pretended to be confused.
"Trust me, something interesting will happen. We'll know when the time comes. I don't want to spoil the surprise! Lucy smiled, squinting at Carrie on the dance floor, keeping a smile on her face.
Zhou Zhou lowered his head and wrote the names of Carrie and Tommy, and secretly sneered in his heart.
Another sheep following Chrissy's ass. It's a pity that you're so good-looking, I don't know how you'll die tonight.
He and Lucy threw the form into the ballot box that Donna had handed over, noticing that Lucy and Donna exchanged glances. He looked around again, and now Jack had collected a large handful of ballots, but he casually stuffed them into his left trouser pocket, pulled out another bundle of ballots from the right, and threw them into the ballot box.
Not just Jack, there were at least fifteen people doing small movements.
βββββββ there are so many people waiting to tease Carrie! This grade is really hopeless!
He stole another glance at Carrie, who was hesitantly biting her lip, as if she didn't know who to choose. Tommy Rose leaned into her ear and said something, and Carrie laughed out loud.
This is the first time since Zhou Zhou came to this world that he heard this girl laugh out loud.
When the ushers of the Honorable Students Association came to collect the folded ballots, the band played a nice cutscene. The ballots were sent to the supervisor's bench at the door, and the votes were counted by Vic, Mr. Stephens, and Mr. and Mrs. Lublin. Miss Jill supervised the counting of votes with a gloomy, piercing gaze.
The tension squirmed in Zhou Zhou's body, and the muscles in his abdomen and back tensed. The Holocaust is about to begin.
There were two piles of ballots that were getting higher and higher, and they looked almost the same.
After Mr. Stephens finished sorting, the four men began to count the two large piles of ballot papers in turn.
They exchanged words and then counted them again. Mr. Stephens nodded, flipped the ballots with his fingers as if he were about to push away the cards in his hand, and handed them back to Vic. Vic stepped onto the stage and returned to the microphone. The Billy Bosnan Band played brass.
Vic was nervous, smiled, and cleared his throat into the microphone, only to blink in fright. He almost dropped his ballot on the floor covered with thick wires, and someone burst into laughter.
"There was an accident," said Vic, who had no art for speaking. "Mr. Lublin said that for the first time in the history of the Spring Ballβ"
"What year and month did you go up?" Someone behind Zhou Zhou muttered. "18oo years?"
"There was a tie in the number of votes."
There was a whisper in the crowd. "Is it a dotted tie or a striped tie?"
George Dawson exclaimed. People burst into laughter. Vic smiled awkwardly and almost dropped his ballot again.
"63 votes for Frank Greer and Jessica McLean, 63 votes for Thomas Rowe and Kelly White."
A moment of silence ensued, and then a burst of applause erupted. Zhou Zhou turned his head to look at Carrie. Her head hung down, as if embarrassed, when suddenly a voice sounded in his heart.
Carrie Carrie
He realized that something outside seemed to be coming to his heart, and he called Carrie's name again and again. It's like there's a radio in your heart!
Zhou Zhouxian is not his own thoughts, it is more like someone forced a signal into his mind.
He looked at Carrie, who looked at the host on stage with burning eyes.
It turns out that Carrie's abilities can still transmit thoughts? Zhou Zhou was shocked.
"Attention!" Vic shouted. "Attention, everyone!" The applause subsided. "We're going to have a runoff vote. When someone brings you a note, write the name of your favorite couple on it. β
He walked away from the microphone, looking relieved.
Ballots were passed among the people, blank sheets of paper hastily torn from the program list.
People no longer pay attention to the band's playing, but just talk excitedly.
Another ten minutes passed.
The ballot papers are decided. Vic shouted on stage, "Prom Queenββββββββββββββββ Carrie White!!" The king ββββTommy Rose!"
Tommy led Carrie, who was smiling happily, onto the stage. Zhou Zhou got up and was about to walk outside.
ββββββ it's too late if you don't leave. The prank is too much, and the thermos is about to explode.
"What's wrong?" Lucy pulled the hem of Zhou Zhou's suit, looked at Zhou Zhou's face, and suddenly felt a little nervous.
"Restroom." Zhou Zhou excused, almost pulled Lucy's hand away, and then walked away without looking back.
As he walked out of the gymnasium, he glanced back at the stage and saw a viscous blood-colored waterfall pouring straight over Carrie's fluffy black gold, splashing blood on Tommy's white suit and splashing on the mural. And the moon ship on the wall.
The lights in the gymnasium dimmed for a moment and then lit up again, like Zhou Zhou's heartbeat.
