Chapter 355: Disclosure of Identity
In front of the world, Spider-Man's impact on revealing his identity is not limited to this. The people close to Parker reacted more and more annoyed after learning the truth about Spider-Man. In the office building of Clarion Daily, the editor-in-chief, J. John Jameson, like all his colleagues in the press, followed the United Nations summit on Ellis Island.
Like everyone else, Jameson was stunned by Spider-Man's true identity. However, he was not surprised by Spider-Man's youth, but surprised that Spider-Man turned out to be his photojournalist - Peter. Parker.
"Jameson, are you watching TV?" Jameson's black assistant panicked and slammed open the door to the editor-in-chief's office, and then he saw Jameson staring blankly at the screen.
Jameson sat in his chair, looked at the TV in his office, and said nonchalantly, "Of course, Robbie, I'm the top news guy." I've found the headlines for tomorrow, and it's the most I want to do right now. β
Robbie was taken aback by the coldness in Jameson's tone, and he stammered, "Well, I guess you're going to start a verbal attack on Spider-Man again." β
"Damn, of course!" Jameson's eyes lit up with rage, and he asked, "You're going to stand with me, aren't you?" β
Robbie shuddered, "Yes, Mr. Jameson. β
Jameson turned off the TV, took out a piece of chewing gum from the drawer, tore open the package and threw it into his mouth and chewed hard: "This morning, I decided to give up cigars, I want to live a healthy life, and decided to switch to nicotine gum from now on"
Robbie didn't know at such a time. What does Jameson mean by saying these words. Jameson continued: "Do you know what prompted me to make this decision? β
"I think of Peter all these years. I was always reminded that it was time to quit smoking. It didn't take Robbie's answer for Jameson to say it himself: "I always laugh at it, because even though I don't give him a good life, even though I see Spider-Man as a thorn in the flesh, I actually treat Peter as if he were my own child." β
"I asked him to start as a regular photographer and buy his sometimes poorly composed messy photographs." Jameson's tone was flat, but the emotion in it was not calm: "In a world full of lies and crime, I always thought. He's always going to be the only kid who spoke up to me, the last honest guy in the New York Metropolis. β
"And this qiΔ is just a faΓ§ade, Robbie! I guess he must have thought it was ridiculous every time he showed me a picture of Spider-Man, and he must have thought I was so stupid to take him in for so long to work at the daily newspaper and never know who he really was."
"Maybe he spent days hiding in the shadows, secretly laughing at me old fool!" Jameson spat out his gum and pressed it hard into the ashtray. But he still felt that this was not relieved, and with a wave of his hand, he smashed the ashtray on the TV screen.
"Sue me, you don't know this qiΔ" Jameson got up from his chair. He pointed to his assistant: "Sue me, you don't know!" β
"Jameson. I swear, I don't know these things. Faced with an enraged Jameson, Robbie subconsciously took a step back, and he comforted, "I don't know, JJ, no one knows this. And I don't think that Peter kid would have fun with it. Jameson, it might be really hard for him to speak. β
"That's enough, you're just, don't say any more," Jameson commanded as he walked to the window of the Clarion Daily building, looked down at the traffic of the street below, "Since we have been publishing a long issue of Peter for many years. Parker's photo, now we have to make some disclaimers, it's enough for Time magazine to write about it for a while. β
As Jameson's assistant, Robbie cleared the need not to confront his boss at such times, and he faithfully recorded Jameson's decision: "Well, I get it. β
"There's an old saying that enemies kill your body, but only your friends can really hurt your heart. Spider-Man's existence is like a thorn in the back for me, he provokes me, humiliates me, and provokes me."
"But it was Peter who really succeeded in hurting me and making me sad. Parker! Jameson turned his back to Robbie, who didn't want to see anyone right now: "Connect me with the best lawyer in New York, well, the blind lawyer Matt I interviewed last time. Murdoch is a good choice. β
Jameson silently said to himself: "Collect evidence of Spider-Man's crimes, strive to get ahead of everyone, and file a lawsuit against him." That's the price of Peter's betrayal of me, Robbie, that's the price of doing that"
Daredevil received a call from the Daily Clarion, and he listened to Robbie's request with suppressed anger, hung up the phone, and said, "The Daily Clarion commissioned me to sue Peter on their behalf, and I agreed. β
"That's no way, Peter's own path, and we can't stop him" Ymir was equally disappointed by Spider-Man's betrayal.
He walked to the side of the base and opened the hidden secret door. This is the result of the painstaking development of Dr. Otto and Dr. Banner these days, and an antiparticle jet converted from a Quint fighter is parked in this huge secret hangar.
Daredevil licked his dry lips and said in a low voice, "Ymir, do you need me to go to Ellis Island and bring Spider-Man back?" Fuck, it must have been Iron Man who bewitched him. β
Ymir snorted, shook his head, and said, "Forget it, it's also that we don't care enough about the worm, I think since he made his own choice, we shouldn't force him anymore." β
Dr. Banner nodded, and said, "That's all there is to it, Tony will definitely protect Peter." He asked, "Imir, where are you going now?" β
Ymir let out an "um" and said his covenant with Black Panther and Dr. MiΓ¨: "The United Nations summit here in New York, there is a tower. It's okay for Challa and Dr. MiΓ¨ to sit in charge, and I'm going to fly to Washington as much as I can, and things are out of Iron Man's control. β
According to the previous estimate made by the Watchmen Alliance, S.H.I.E.L.D. will implement various plans after the superhero registration bill has been reviewed. But it is clear that Commander Hill's unnatural play of cards has disrupted this rhythm. (To be continued......)
