Chapter Twenty-Eight: Nicol Lemay and the Philosopher's Stone!

Over Christmas, Harry and Ron all but gave up hope that they could find Lemay in the library, though Harry was still convinced that he had seen the name somewhere. Once the term began, they reverted to using the ten-minute break to browse books, but Harry had less time than the others as Quidditch training began again.

Liu Jiecao and Hermione still didn't remind the two of them that browsing books was nothing to the two of them, it was what they liked to do.

The former is to continue to pack knowledge into the book of creation, and the latter is to enjoy learning.

Because of the hard work of Quidditch training, Harry didn't have time to think about other things, just as Liu Jiecao suggested, and was distracted by the way.

Harry found that when he was exhausted after training, the nightmares really did less.

However, Harry also got the bad news that Snape would be the referee for the next Quidditch match, which shocked him and distracted him again, and his attachment to the magic mirror was further reduced.

After this training session, while the rest of the team were still chatting and chatting, Harry went straight to the Gryffindor common room, where he found Ron and Hermione playing chess, while Liu Jiecao and several Lori, who were often around Hermione, were watching the game.

Hermione only loses when she plays chess, which Harry and Ron think will be good for her. Liu Jiecao thought it was all Harry and Ron jealous of Hermione's talent for magic.

"Don't talk to me yet," Ron said as Harry sat down beside Ron, "I need to considerβ€”"

But when he saw Harry's face, he said, "What's wrong with you?" Your face is horrible. ”

Harry lowered his voice, not wanting anyone to hear him, and told them about Snape's sudden and malicious desire to be a Quidditch referee.

Liu Jiecao knew why, and Snape wanted to protect Harry. Don't let what happened last time happen again, once there is an accident, he can look at the overall situation and respond at any time, so as not to be as passive as last time.

Obviously, this should have been Dumbledore's old fox's ploy, and Snape might not have figured it out himself.

Although Hermione also vaguely guessed the reason why Snape wanted to be a Quidditch referee, she was still a little worried when she thought that Quirrell was still there.

Snape, on the other hand, would protect Harry though. However, judging from past experience, he may protect Harry while also giving Harry small shoes to wear, so that the outcome of this game is biased in a direction that Harry does not want to see.

"Don't get into the race." Hermione said immediately.

"Just say you're sick." Ron said.

"Pretend to break your leg." Hermione suggested.

"Really broke my leg." Ron said.

"If you can't do it yourself, why don't I help you break your leg......" Liu Jiecao complained with malice.

The loli on the side nodded violently, they had recently become familiar with Harry and Lori through Liu Jiecao and Hermione. They are all watching the play, and there is nothing worth stumping them on in the recent first-grade course, and it can even be said that they have learned all the things they should learn in the first grade. They don't have to work so hard in the next time, so they have the time to run to see the excitement.

"I can't do that." "There are no substitute Seekers on the team. If I quit, Gryffindor won't be able to play. ”

That's when it happened. Neville stumbled headlong into the common room. No one could guess how he got out of the portrait hole, because his legs were glued together. Harry, they could tell at a glance that it was a leg-locking spell. He must have been bouncing all the way upstairs like a rabbit into Gryffindor Castle.

Everyone laughed. Only Hermione didn't laugh. She jumped forward and unleashed Neville's spell, and Neville's legs parted at once. He stood up. Trembling all over.

"What's going on?" Hermione asked as she led him over and sat down with Harry and Ron.

"Malfoy." Nacheng said in a trembling voice, "I ran into him outside the library. He said he had been looking for someone to practice the spell. ”

"Go find Professor McGonagall!" Hermione urged Neville, "Sue him!" ”

Neville shook his head.

"I don't want to get in trouble anymore." He muttered vaguely.

"You'll have to be brave enough to deal with him, Neville!" "He's always domineering, and there's no reason for us to give in before him and make it easy for him to get his way," Ron said. ”

"You don't have to tell me I'm too timid to be in Gryffindor, Malfoy has already said that to me." Neville choked up.

Harry reached into the pocket of his robe and pulled out a horseshoe-shaped chocolate, the last of the box Hermione had given him at Christmas. Harry handed it to Nacheng. Neville looked like he was about to cry.

"You're better than twelve Malfoy." Harry said, "The Sorting Hat chose you for Gryffindor, didn't he?" Where is Malfoy? In the obnoxious Slytherin. ”

Neville unwrapped the horseshoe-shaped chocolate, his lips twitching, and a feeble smile.

"Thank you. Harry...... I want to go to sleep...... Do you want a card? You're collecting cards, aren't you? ”

After Neville left, Harry looked at the famous wizard card.

Those in the know all stared at this wizard card, as if it contained all the mysteries between heaven and earth, and a certain truth was about to be completely revealed through this card.

Liu Jiecao was thinking about Neville, and had planned to help him out before the start of school, but he still hadn't studied the "Forgetting Spell" yet, and the magic research on the brain was not enough, so it seemed that he still had to wait until the next semester to meet the "expert" who would only "Forget the Curse". Maybe there was a way to help Neville in that person.

Then, Harry finally looked at the wizard card and spoke.

"It's Dumbledore again," he said, "the first time I wasβ€”"

He gasped and stared at the back of the card, then looked up at Liu Jiecao, Ron, and Hermione, and then turned to look at the other Lori.

"I found him!" He whispered, "I've found Lemay!" I've told you, I've seen it somewhere before, it turns out I've seen it on the train here - listen to this: 'Dumbledore's well-known contributions include: defeating the Dark Wizard Grindelwald in 1945, discovering the twelve uses of dragon blood, and working with his partner Nicolame in alchemy! ’”

Hermione leaped to her feet. She hadn't been so excited since the grades of their first homework came down.

"Wait!" She said. Then I rushed upstairs to the girls' dormitory. Before Harry and Ron could exchange confused glances, she rushed back, a huge old book in her arms.

"I didn't think to look here!" She whispered excitedly, "I borrowed it from the library a few weeks ago and wanted to read it for fun. ”

"Pastime?" Ron said, but Hermione told him to be quiet and let her look for something. She began to flip the pages quickly, muttering words as she spoke.

Finally, she found it.

"I see! I know! ”

Liu Jiecao complained in his heart. This was true in the original plot, but now Hermione is one of the insiders, and this should have been prepared for a long time, waiting for Harry to find the "answer" and then take it out immediately. It's a good pretension now, probably because Harry was too excited to "finally" find the answer, so he covered up her unnaturalness.

"We can talk now, right?" Ron said angrily. Hermione ignored him.

"Nicol. Lemay. She lowered her voice as if she were acting, "The only maker of the known Philosopher's Stone!" ”

Her words did not have the effect she expected.

"What stone?" Harry and Ron asked.

"Oh, what the hell. Do you two usually read books? Look--read this paragraph. ”

She pushes the book to them, and Harry and Ron read it: Ancient alchemy involves the refining of the Philosopher's Stone, a magical substance with amazing functions. The Philosopher's Stone can turn any metal into pure gold, and it can also create an elixir. that whoever drinks this medicine may never die.

There have been many reports of the Philosopher's Stone over the centuries, but the only remaining Philosopher's Stone currently belongs to the famous alchemist and opera lover Mr. Nicol Lemay. He celebrated his 665th birthday last year and now lives in seclusion in Devon with his wife, Perenal (658).

Harry and Ron finished reading. was going to pass it on to Liu Jiecao, but the latter said that he already knew about it, and then he would transfer it to other Lori. The same refusal.

This made Harry and Ron extremely depressed, as if the two of them didn't know about the Philosopher's Stone in the world.

"Got it?" After Harry and Ron finished reading, Hermione asked. "That big dog must be guarding Lemay's Philosopher's Stone! I'm sure LeMay asked Dumbledore to keep it for him, because they were friends, and he knew someone was playing with the idea of the Philosopher's Stone. That's why he transferred the Philosopher's Stone from Gringotts. ”

"A stone can make gold, and it can make you immortal!" Harry said, "No wonder Snape is playing with it!" Anyone would want to get it! ”

"No wonder we can't find Lemay in Studies on the Development of Modern Witchcraft." Ron said, "Since he's six hundred and sixty-five years old, he can't be considered modern, can he?" ”

Whether it is the original plot or the present, when these two people say this, they always feel that they are resolving the embarrassment of their ignorance.

The next morning, in Defence Against the Dark Arts class, Harry and Ron were documenting the various healing options for a werewolf bite while discussing what would happen if they got their hands on the Philosopher's Stone.

Liu Jiecao refused to participate in this boring fantasy, and moved further away from the two of them.

It wasn't until Ron said he was going to buy his own Quidditch team that Harry remembered what was going on, Snape and the upcoming match.

"I have to compete," he told Liu, Ron, and Hermione, "and if I quit, the Slytherins will think I'm scared and don't dare face Snape." I'm going to show them ...... And if we win, we'll completely clear the smug smile on their faces. ”

"As long as we don't remove you from the ring." Hermione said.

As the game approached, Harry was not concerned with what Liu Jiecao, Ron and Hermione had to say, but his mood was getting more and more nervous, and the rest of the team was not calm. The thought of beating Slytherin in the House Cup makes everyone excited. For almost seven years, no one has been able to defeat them. However, with such an eccentric referee, can they succeed?

Harry didn't know if it was because he was too attentive or if it was true, it seemed like he would run into Snape wherever he went. Sometimes, he even suspected that Snape was following him and wanted to catch him alone. The weekly Potions class turned into a painful ordeal, and Snape had a bad attitude towards Harry. Did Snape know that they had discovered the mystery of the Philosopher's Stone? Harry couldn't understand how he could know - Harry often had a terrible feeling that Snape could read through other people's minds.

Liu Jiecao knew why, Snape was protecting Harry, whether it was Dumbledore's order or Snape's own intentions.

Having experienced the last event that Dumbledore and Snape had anticipated, they couldn't imagine that Quirrell would go crazy against a student, so both of them had been watching Harry overtly or secretly lately to prevent Quirrell from attacking him again.

Dumbledore did want to arrange the trial of the Savior for Harry, but he didn't want him to die, so he would not allow Harry to have any other unnecessary accidents.

Dumbledore was hiding in the shadows and watching everything, and Snape was the protective force on the surface, making it impossible for Quirrell to attack again.

The next afternoon, when Liu, Ron, Hermione, and even some of the lolias who only occasionally showed up around him wished him good luck outside the locker room, Harry speculated that they were actually secretly worried that they would never see him back alive. What comfort does this feint give him?

Harry put on his Quidditch suit and picked up his Halo 2000, not heeding Wood's morale-boosting words.

Meanwhile, Ron and Hermione found a place in the stands, right next to Neville, and Liu Jiecao and his lolias sat on the other side of Neville.

Neville didn't understand why they seemed so heavy and worried, or why they had all brought their wands to the ring.

Harry didn't know that Ron and Hermione had been secretly practicing the Leg Lock Charm. Inspired by Malfoy's incantation of Neville, they planned to cast a incantation on Snape as soon as he showed signs of harming Harry.

"Remember, don't forget, it's 'the legs stiff and dead.'" Hermione whispered as Ron put his wand on his sleeve.

"I know." Ron said impatiently, "Stop nagging. ”

Liu Jiecao and his loli's expressions were relaxed, knowing that if there was no accident this time, there would be no recurrence of what happened last time. Last time, it was just Dumbledore who didn't expect Quirrell's madness, and this time there was Snape on the surface, and Dumbledore secretly made some arrangements to not let the last thing happen again. (To be continued......)
