ACT410: The Burning Earth

"On that day, the French finally remembered the horror of their aggression and the humiliation of being beaten for a time......"

February 8, 1940, was the day for the Tang people on Jupiter to celebrate the arrival of the Spring Festival, but at the same time, on Venus, the French ushered in the beginning of a new round of suffering. Because in the early hours of the morning, the terrible Germans came again!

Until the shells fell on their heads, the French on the soil couldn't figure out where these overwhelming German battleships came from!?

They have deployed their country's most elite fleet in the Shattered Star Zone, and they are also working together with the stronger British Royal Navy. No matter how poor the combat effectiveness of these fleets is, it is impossible for them to be wiped out silently, and not even a single messenger can escape.

And the French people, who were panicked under the artillery fire, did not know that exactly 12 hours before the German fleet arrived in the low earth orbit of Venus, there was already a "mysterious person" who notified the French authorities in advance, but the government bosses did not pay attention to this, and regarded it as a prank or even a trap for the enemy.

When the Germans really appeared, they felt too much remorse!

In the eyes of the French, this sudden war was a nightmare from the very beginning! At 0:00 a.m., the German fleet suddenly rushed through the stargate in groups, and after coming, it quickly eliminated the French patrol ships cruising near the delivery area, and then directly approached Venus at the fastest cruising speed.

Their mission was to strike as fast as possible, to reach the skies over France on Venus before dawn, and to crush the opposing home fleet to the ground.

The main force of this task includes two Moltke-class battle cruisers, two German-class armored cruisers, and two cutting-edge Scharnhorst-class battle cruisers, as well as a light patrol follower. After passing through the star gate, they directly attacked in the direction of Venus at their maximum cruising speed, and they were stunned to complete the normal 3~5 days journey in 4 hours.

Afterwards, a German sailor and the ship's mother recalled this "death hurricane". All of them are scared and their legs are going to be weak. When they arrived at Venus, the outer wall of the ship was already full of scratches, and fortunately they didn't hit anything big along the way, otherwise a boatload of people would have been tragic!

When the assault fleet reached the skies over France on Venus, it was in the last darkness before dawn, and most of the people were still asleep. The German mobile units first swarmed up, found and killed the French garrison on duty in the airspace, and then continued to descend, forming an artillery formation 300 kilometers above the ground.

Under normal circumstances, the space fleet when conducting a ground attack. In order to ensure the accuracy of the shelling, the patency will first drop the altitude to less than 30 kilometers above the ground. On the one hand, this is done to fight accurately, and on the other hand, it is also to control the damage, but this time the German army went beyond the conventional choice of 300 kilometers above the ground!

At this height, a large city with a population of one million people looks the size of a grain of rice, and it is impossible to distinguish between a private house and a military camp. If we only rely on the current observation and sighting system of mankind, it is no exaggeration to say that the hit of the artillery can basically only be completed by relying on "faith"!

And the reason why Germany dared to risk all the deviations and opened fire at this height. It all depends on the "radio guidance device" developed by scientists and the preparation of agents in advance.

Germany has been studying how to carry out precision strikes in low-earth orbit since the First World War, and only recently has it finally succeeded. They developed a radio transmitting device, as long as it was placed in advance near the target to be struck, a shell with a signal receiver was installed. The guidance group will actively approach the target, which greatly increases the accuracy of hitting.

Of course! This shell is not without its drawbacks!

First, the charge of the shell is very small, less than one-third of that of the conventional shell, and the firing height needs to be increased. Acceleration due to gravity to compensate for the lack of power. However, once the altitude increases, the heat generated by the friction between the shell and the air during the fall can easily burn out the delicate signal receiver.

As a result, in real combat, such shells frequently failed. Bombed a lot of targets by mistake.

The first ground target hit by the German mobile fleet was the largest military port in France, the port of Toulon! The infiltrated German agents had already placed signaling devices in advance near important targets, including the docks, shipyards, and supply warehouses of the military port, as well as military barracks and airfields in the suburbs.

Before the attack began, German agents had conclusively confirmed that almost all of the remaining French fleets were anchored in the harbor. The newly-built Richelieu-class No. 2 ship "Jeanbar" had just been launched at this time, and had not yet undergone surface tests, let alone installed a divine core, and its combat effectiveness was basically negligible.

After the first strike began, less than a quarter of the shells of the first salvo flew to the target, but even so, this accuracy was unimaginably high in the past, and at the same time brought great psychological shock to the French troops on the ground.

The French didn't even see where the enemy was, so they were beaten for no reason. Some of the sharp-eyed people noticed that the artillery fire was falling overhead, but when they looked up into the sky, there was only a dark night sky as far as the eye could see, and there was no enemy in sight.

And then the second, the third...... More and more shells are falling from the sky.

The shelling lasted for nearly an hour, and the Germans fired thousands of shells of various calibers at the ground, and the entire port of Toulon was in flames. If it weren't for the fact that in the middle of the shelling, all the signaling devices were destroyed, and the accuracy of the German artillery bombardment was greatly reduced, the port of Toulon would have been completely wiped off the map!

It is worth mentioning that in the fifteenth minute of this shelling, an 11-inch shell that deviated 17 kilometers from the target hit a hut in the southern suburbs of the port of Toulon impartially, and all the German agents who thought they were safe were reimbursed.

After the first strike, the entire port was in shambles, the warehouses and shipyards of the port were destroyed, the remaining French fleet was also severely damaged, and many ships were directly destroyed in the port. Of the 6 capital ships, 2 of the 3 Kolbe-class ships were sunk on the spot and 1 was severely damaged, and the Brittany-class survived by chance, but they were all injured a lot, and only the Barr was magically unscathed.

In order to avoid another attack and annihilate the entire fleet, the surviving French fleet could only take advantage of the darkness of the night and hastily drag the Bar to take refuge at sea. As it turned out, they were right in this decision. After waiting for half an hour and not receiving confirmation from friendly forces on the ground, the commander immediately ordered the entire fleet to descend to 15 kilometers above the ground and launch a second artillery bombardment.

By the time they flew down, the remnants of the French fleet had long since taken refuge at sea.

There is no doubt that the shelling of the port of Toulon officially opened the prelude to World War II in this time and space. Afterwards, the German mobile fleet launched attacks on a large number of military targets, and the French ground forces, which relied on their superiority in high altitude, were powerless to fight back.

And when, three days later, the main German fleet arrived on Venus under the cover of the transports, and the battle for France planned by Hitler officially reached its climax. Millions of heavily armed German troops, riding on their cheap landing ships, set foot on the land of Venus without hindrance.

After these troops landed, they first sent sappers to urgently build a large number of field airfields, and then dragged down the BF109 and JU-87 on the transport ships. The German engineers, who had done countless drills on Titan earlier, completed the preparation of the fighter plane in less than 12 hours.

Subsequently, the Germans, with a full ten panzer divisions as the vanguard, under the cover of a large number of air force fighters, launched a fierce attack on the weak points of the French defenses, and with the blitzkrieg techniques honed in Poland, they were like bamboos all the way. The fleet, on the other hand, is back in space and ready to deal with the enemy from Mercury.

There's another of their old adversaries over there, the Royal Navy! (To be continued......)

PS: To be honest, the more I checked the information, the more I felt that the French army during World War II was a weak chicken, but fortunately, Italy was interesting enough later, and it proved with practical actions that he was more scum than the Gaul chicken who was about to die, and finally did not let the crown of "amusing the emperor" fall on the head of France.
