Eyeing

After leaving the subway station, we walked a few more blocks and suddenly found a large open space in front of us, with barbed wire at the end of the clearing, and several heavily armed sentries patrolling there.

It seems that this is the terminal station in the southwest of the territory of the fearless faction, and it is well guarded!

We continued on our way and finally reached the barbed wire fence. In the middle of the fence made of sharp barbed wire, there was only a narrow guardrail gate for one or two people to pass through, and when someone came in from outside, we gave way and waited by the side.

There were also a few soldiers on duty by the guardrail, and one of them, an officer who looked like a captain, whistled at us and asked with a smile, "New here, right?" ”

"Yes." I replied.

"Well, let's have fun!" He stared at us and said

We ignored him, but smiled noncommittally and walked through the guardrail.

"It's boring!" After taking a dozen steps, Hetty snorted quietly.

I comforted her, "I guess they probably have nothing to do except patrol and stand guard all day, and they can't bear to be lonely after a long time, so they have this idea." ”

"Perhaps!" Although Hetty's mouth was still talking about it, his eyes were already drawn to the distant scene.

"Wow, this bazaar is big enough!"

I also looked into the distance with her gaze, and a large bazaar of shape* immediately jumped into view. The market is indeed not small, with long streets from east to west lined with stalls of department stores one after another. Take a closer look, there are very few stalls selling vegetables and fruits, while the stalls selling fish, meat, poultry and eggs are quite okay, more of them are selling department stores, clothing, shoes and hats, daily necessities, native products, farm tools····· The whole nine yards. Not only that, but there were a lot of strange things that I couldn't even name, and I was dazzled by them.

I peeked at Hetty, and she was dizzying, but she didn't have a look of surprise.

It seems that the world has been moving forward for a thousand years, and many things have undergone earth-shaking changes, but fortunately, the changes in the appearance of human beings are not prominent, otherwise I would have become a monster in their eyes if I came from "ancient times"!

We strolled leisurely, and before we knew it, we were in the cultural and entertainment area again. There are hundreds of music, juggling, and excitement here. The hustle and bustle made me feel like I was going back to the temple fairs that were only available at festivals in the past.

It's crowded with people, and it looks several times more lively than the grocery place. From time to time, a few visitors in eye-catching red trousers appeared in the crowd, either clustered around the venue or in a scattered procession across the streets, and without thinking about it, I could assume that they would be "flamboyant" and sincere solidarists. Not only that, but from time to time I saw two or three people wearing glasses and purple clothes, and the way they watched the performance as if no one else was around was really lifelike. I reckon that most likely these two factions are encamped in this vicinity, not too far from the camp of the Fearless faction.

We continued to wander aimlessly, and we didn't go far before a fancy magic stage caught our eye in a clearing in front of us, and we walked straight over.

"I can't even remember when I ever saw a magic show." Herty said.

"Me too. Oh, this stage is so beautiful! I couldn't help but sigh.

The stage is full of flowers, especially in the background, which is like a kaleidoscope of change, changing from time to time with strange flowers and plants, lifelike, as if people are about to be attracted by this gorgeous flower.

In the center of the stage sits a girl in her early twenties, dressed in a 19th-century dress that resembles a large bell and is adorned with delicate and elegant decorative lace. The neckline of the girl's blouse is very low, and most of the shoulders and breasts are exposed, but the long golden brown curly hair that naturally falls over the shoulders blends perfectly with every bit of nudity, which is really charming. She sat lazily on the swing in the pile of flowers, humming quietly to herself. On the right side of the stage, a clown in heavy makeup is beckoning everyone to watch the performance, while on the other side of the stage, a small dwarf is also beating a trumpet and shouting gongs and drums.

At this moment, an elderly man dressed as an Egyptian pharaoh and sat cross-legged on a bench-like shelf, slowly appeared on the stage. If you look closely, this old man is wearing a cross symbolizing Christianity in addition to the pharaoh's clothes, but he is twisting a large string of Buddhist beads representing Buddhism in his hand, which is really a bit nondescript! He slowly stopped on the right side of the stage, and from the moment he appeared on the stage until he took his seat, his eyes remained closed, as if he was dozing off.

The exaggerated decorations of this magic stage, and a few characters and outfits, I seem to have seen them somewhere, but I can't remember them for a while.

At this time, several children appeared on the stage, and they lined up one by one, and after a while they ran out of the side door of the background area, and in their hands there was an extra bag of gorgeous candy or beautiful dolls. As soon as they stepped off the stage, they excitedly told their families about the beauty they had seen behind the curtain.

Herty watched the stage with fascination, and I watched the stage with changing lights all the time. Suddenly, the old man sitting on the right side of the stage opened his eyes, which was a very ordinary thing, but I accidentally saw that his eyes were not glancing at me at all, but staring at me without blinking, and I couldn't help but gasp. His cloudy and stiff gaze was like a hungry leopard seeing long-lost food, and it was creepy, and the back of my spine suddenly cooled.

Not only that, but even the two clowns on the stage and the beautiful woman who had nothing to do turned to me as if they were on the same page, which was really unexpected! The tall and slender clown invited me to the stage with great enthusiasm, while the graceful woman and the funny-dressed little dwarf looked at me with strange eyes, and their performance made me inexplicably frightened, and I involuntarily took a step back, and I really wanted to run away at once.

I glanced at the people around me, but they didn't behave in the slightest, and they were chattering and laughing all around me. Hetty, like an evil man, raised his hands nervously with most people, almost obsessively eager to go on stage.

The tall clown saw that more and more people in the crowd raised their hands, and he had to give up pestering me and turn to my side, and so Hetty was chosen to take the stage. Several of the young people on the stage were busy receiving the people visiting the mysterious backdrop, but the bad old man was still staring at me. I mustered up the courage to force myself to laugh falsely, deliberately turning my eyes away from him.

But at this moment, a grotesque cold voice suddenly appeared in the back of my head, which was so close to me that I was so frightened that I stiffened and goosebumps rose. I turned my head sharply, and the tall clown on the stage had gotten behind me at some point, he was a lot taller than me, and his tight-fitting clown costume was on his body, looking thin and lean.

He bent down, stared at me with a burning eye, and nervously asked, "Where are you from?" ”

I replied incoherently, "I······ I ······ I'm from the Fearless Faction. "Actually, I could have ignored his question, but I replied to him in a strange way, but fortunately my answer did not reveal my background.

"Oh, really?!" He leaned close to me and looked me up and down like a fox, his nose flapping exaggeratedly, as if he could sniff out something unusual about me, and we were in a stalemate for several minutes.

That's when Hetty returned, holding a toy bear half a man tall, and happily squeezed through the crowd. When I saw her, it was as if I had grasped a life-saving straw and rushed to meet her.

"Look, the prize I got --- a super cute bear!" Hetty held the bear in her arms and said with great interest.

I nodded my head in disgust, but the real psychology wasn't there.

I glanced back and saw that the place where the clown had been standing was now empty. The clown was gone, gone without a trace. I set my eyes on the stage again, but I didn't expect that the clown was already busy on the stage, could it be that his uninvited appearance just now was just an illusion on my part?!

Now that several of them were concentrating on the stage, the strange bad old man closed his eyes and recuperated as if he had nothing to do with him. On the surface, it was as if the scene had never happened, but the lingering feelings in my heart could not be calmed down for a long time. I pulled Hetty out of this place as if I had fled.

As we walked back, Hetty was holding the bear in her right hand and gesturing up and down with her left hand, her eyebrows fluttering as she told what she had seen and heard backstage.

"That narrow area behind the background is so beautiful! There are a lot of plants, and a lot of moving toys, which look quite realistic·····"

I didn't even bother to listen to her, and I still had the strange look of the bad old man staring at me in my mind.

After the lights went out at night, I couldn't sleep, tossing and turning, and the scenes of the day flashed in front of my eyes like a movie. I thought about it, but I couldn't break the knot. Where did they come from? Why are you noticing me? A big question mark was hidden in the bottom of my heart, lingering. I thought about it and finally fell asleep with messy nightmares.
