Presumably named after the sluices on nearby Cometon and Hamsdam Roads, the Locks Garden is a row of four nineteenth-century houses with a flat façade in the middle of a curved street, each with three floors, plus a basement and a walled back garden all the way to the Regent's Canal. The house numbers are number two to five – the house number one either collapsed or was never built. The fifth, at the north end, could not have been more modest as a security liaison station, with three exits within thirty yards and two more by the narrow road of the canal.
