Text: Chapter 3

"The only thing that can make Emilia take the initiative to talk is her own hair."

I don't know when such a joke has been circulating in the guild.

In the eyes of ordinary people, Emilia Walton is the kind of girl who no one can approach. She is always alone, does not come into contact with people, and even rarely falls on others. Within the spiritual world, the twenty-year-old girl was always praised, even if not a word of praise elicited a reaction from her.

The guild has always had a full schedule for Amilia, but even then, she still finds time to take care of her image. This kind of care is often accurate to every inch of skin and even every hair. For her, maintaining a perfect appearance is the best way to decompress.

Emilia has strict requirements for what she makes, what she says, what she eats, and even what she thinks. This makes her extremely autistic. Even Chloe, who was closest to her, was in the same squad as her, couldn't figure out what she wanted.

"What?! Who do you say you are? Chloe asked aloud by pressing a finger to the communicator pinned to her ear.

Judging by the surrounding scene, this is the roof of a certain building.

In the center of the area stands a metal antenna tower more than a dozen stories high, and many air conditioning cooling units are distributed below the tower. Near the only entrance to the roof of the building are several machines with display screens. Not far from these machines stood a half-human-tall metal box. A total of six guild members, including Chloe and Emilia, enclosed the box in the middle.

This building is taller than most buildings in the city. Standing on the top of the building, if you ignore the slight view blocked by the Harrods Building next to it, you can almost see the whole city.

The morning sun shone obliquely, dyeing the floor of the roof orange and yellow.

"Jaang." A male voice came from Chloe's communicator, "No. Actually, it's Zi-Ang, An Ziang, but I don't think you can make that sound, so it's better to call me Jay Ang. The man's words were mixed with a thick Asian accent.

Chloe looked bored. "Well, that's awesome." "But what I want to ask is, who the fuck are you?" ”

Presumably attracted by Chloe's words, Emilia leaned slightly to look at the other.

"I'm a member of the Ann family," the man responded, "for some reason, I joined the guild a few days ago and am currently affiliated with Emily...... I mean, Miss Walton, sorry, part of Miss Walton's squad. He said it upside down.

"What? What family? Chloe asked.

"The An family, the An family in the Chinese spiritual world." The Asian man's tone accentuated, but the thick accent only made his words harder to understand, "The guild suggested that I get here first, with Emily...... Miss Walton! Sorry, I mean, rendezvous with Miss Walton. ”

"What a mess." Chloe turned to look at Emilia, "Are you listening?" ”

Emilia raised the corners of her mouth slightly, pointing to the communication device pinned to her ear.

"Okay, ahh Chloe said, "Can you see a building with an antenna tower from your vantage point?" ”

"Let me find it." The man responded, "Yes, there is one, quite conspicuous. ”

Chloe walked up to one of the machines and pressed a button on the machine.

The air around the machine produced a faint ripple. The wave spread evenly and soon enveloped the entire roof.

"And now?" Chloe asked.

"Tower, tower......" said the man, "gone!" I didn't even know that the guild could act so blatantly. ”

"Even if someone shoots this scene and then uploads it to the Internet, I'm afraid it will only be regarded as a small short film with special effects." Chloe said, "But if you don't block it now, and then the fight starts in a while, you can't really explain it to the public." ”

"So, you're on a mission?" The man raised his voice, "I'll go over and help now." ”

"I still need you?!" Chloe said, half-mockingly, half-helplessly, "Let's go to the Harold Building next door." Two rookies in the editorial department are courting members. Maybe they're not afraid of being messed up by you. ”

Chloe's words were not responded to in a timely manner.

"Do you hear that? Son, Jaang, or something, hey? ”

Chloe looked around at the other team members in surprise. Everyone other than Emilia was looking back at her with the same expression.

"So—" Chloe said in a long voice, "no one knows where this guy came from. ”

"I don't know how he got on our line of communication." One of the team members said.

"I don't know how to understand what he says." Another member of the team said.

"Well, that's awesome." Chloe glanced down at her watch, "Five minutes left." If the goal appears on time, it's best to do it quickly. The military also has eyeliner around here, and I don't want to be entangled by them anymore and lose time fighting for the right to dispose of the spirit. ”

"You say a quick deal," said one of the team members, "referring to the fact that, as usual, a few of us are in charge of watching the show and leaving the target to Emilia alone, right?" ”

"How do you know it's six?" Another team member asked.

"What?" Chloe said impatiently.

"According to the guild's intelligence, the target is indeed in this mansion." "I also understand that the roof is the least noticeable, so it's best suited for containment. But how do we know that the target will be here at six o'clock sharp? ”

Before Chloe could reply, there was a sound of footsteps coming from the entrance to the rooftop.

"Yes, that's right, of course I'm willing to climb to the top of the building early in the morning with a lump of rags."

The footsteps were accompanied by a man's whispered complaints.

"Oops—thank you so much." The man followed the woman's voice and said, "If I were thirty years younger, I would reward you well." ”

"I really don't need to." The man changed back to his original voice, "Remove your ugly face, and I'll be grateful!" ”

Chloe reached out and swiped beside her.

The machines piled up near the entrance became a blur and quickly disappeared into thin air.

"Give it all ......to me," Chloe said in a low voice, "behave like a normal person." ”

A man appears at the entrance to the roof. He wore uncomfortable-looking overalls, holding a neatly stacked canvas in his hands. When he noticed that there were other people on the roof, the man stopped, his expression surprised.

"So early?" The man said, "What are you doing here?" He glanced at Emilia a few more times.

"What else can I do?" Chloe responded, "Conspiracy boss's birthday party." In order to keep your job, you have to be diligent. ”

"Empathize." The man said, "I was caught up by the manager." The woman said that the air conditioner was blowing soot into the office, and asked me to come up and block the fan port of the external unit. What kind of logic do you say this is! I have to clean the office before I go to work, and if I don't have time to clean it later, I'm afraid I will be told again. ”

"Then I'll help you." Chloe looked at the canvas the man was holding, "I know what the machine is, what, where the fan port is." A few of us were chatting and we covered it up. Go clean the office. ”

"Really?!" The man smiled, "Oh my God, you really made me ......"

The lump of canvas seemed to react to the man's mood changes. It flipped up in the top corner and shook quickly a few times.

"You're a happy fart!" Chloe exclaimed suddenly, she reached out and pressed the place where the canvas was raised, and then pulled the whole canvas into her arms at once, "Look at your age, you know that I joined the work before you." According to seniority, I will say a few words about you. Can always clean the office have a future?! If you want to change the status quo, you need to make some real achievements. Don't say it, go back quickly! ”

The man was stunned by Chloe. He opened his mouth, but eventually turned around and walked down the stairs along the entrance from which he came.

"You ......," one of the team members turned to Chloe, "well done, pretty?" He said noncommittally.

Chloe took a few steps, bent down, and gently lowered the canvas to the ground.

The other members of the team lowered their heads and looked at the folded canvas.

"We know you exist." "Our job is to move you to a safer place. If you cooperate, we will respect your form of existence and will not cause you further harm. If you resist, we will be forced to assimilate half of your consciousness in order to complete the rest of the work. ”

The canvas floats into the air and spreads out, blocking out the morning light. One of its corners is curled up and twisted into the shape of a cone. The tip of this cone is pointed impartially at Chloe's face.

"Sick ......" a hoarse voice echoed in mid-air, "the whole world, destroy ......"

Chloe's eyes widened. "Oh my God, it's such a stupid thing." She muttered, "Can't you just talk normally?" ”

"Leave...... Or, dead ......," said a voice in mid-air.

"Well, according to your logic," Chloe replied unhurriedly, "you're going to destroy the whole world, but if I go away, you're going to let me go?" She blinked, "Awesome." ”

One of the team members waved to the side. Several machines that had disappeared were revealed. The team member pressed several buttons on the machine in turn, then looked at the illuminated monitor screen.

"Listen," Chloe continued, "whatever you think you are, the truth is, you don't have a sense of existence. You don't look like something born out of someone's death, or something born out of some urban legend. According to the current situation, you are most likely to be pieced together by the negative emotions of a group of oppressed, low-level employees. As for the carrier you chose, even if you don't have a brain, you should understand that it is not lethal. So, if you can take the initiative to get into the metal box over there, we'll both save you unnecessary trouble. ”

"Leave...... Or, dead ......," a voice in mid-air repeated.

Chloe rolled her eyes. "No one is robbing you." She turned to look at Emilia.

"Even if it doesn't have a complete mind," said the team member standing in front of the display, "it still has a high reading of total consciousness." Be prepared to play with it for a few minutes. ”

Emilia raised her right hand and glanced at the metal bracelet she wore on her wrist.

The front of that bracelet is made up of a fluorescent screen. The word "β6" is displayed on the screen. Next to the lettering is a green "100%" logo.

Emilia pointed her right hand at the canvas in the air.

The words on the bracelet screen immediately changed to "α30". Immediately after, a barrier glowing purple appeared in front of Emilia.

This change caused a strong reaction from the canvas. It lunged forward, stabbing the tip of the cone against the barrier. However, this so-called tip was only spread out along the barrier like ordinary cloth, lying on its stomach and piling up in a lump.

"I've said it a long time ago." Chloe muttered.

The canvas leapt to its feet and flew towards the antenna tower in the center of the roof, wrapping around a thin metal bracket.

With the pull of the canvas, the bracket was pulled off the antenna tower. Its uncanvas-wrapped end broke off with a sharp point.

Canvas waved the stand and struck at Emilia. The purple barrier met the canvas, stubbornly blocking the opponent's swing. The canvas shook a few times and withdrew a short distance in the air. The barrier spreads out to form a complete sphere, enveloping the canvas in it. The canvas did not stop moving, but instead moved the whole sphere, flipping back and forth in the air. As it moved above Emilia, it slammed into the ground, shattering the ball of light that enveloped itself, then bounced off the ground and stabbed the wrapped bracket at Amilia.

A purple glow bounced Emilia sideways, allowing her to avoid the canvas's attack, but before she could gain a foothold, the fluttering canvas spun around for half a circle, sweeping Emilia off the ground with its tail unwrapped around the stand.

Another barrier is created at the point where Emilia is about to fall.

However, at this very second......

"Leave it to me!"

A word in Chinese came from the entrance on the roof. Immediately after, several palm-sized pieces of rune paper flew out from the direction where the voice came.

However, instead of doing what they were supposed to do—to take Emilia safely—the rune paper did, instead slamming straight into the newly created barrier, shifting it from where it had been.

Emilia tries to adjust her position, but the sudden situation doesn't give her time to react. Her body brushed against the edge of the barrier, slammed diagonally to the ground, and then glided a long distance.

Thankfully, the roof floor was smooth enough, and the air-conditioner that appeared to be in Emilia's taxiway had just brushed over her head. Unfortunately, the outsider dripped a puddle of water on the ground, and most of it was wiped off by Amilia's hair. Unfortunately, as the glide had not stopped, the water-stained hair continued to wipe the ground and unceremoniously wiped away a large cloud of dust.

Chloe, who saw this, shook her head. "Again...... To make a fruitless trip. ”

Emilia sat up straight, lifted a hand, and gently twisted the ends of her hair that were dripping cloudy liquid.

The canvas curved downward, trembled in the air a few times, and then swung the stand again and struck at Emilia.

This time, however, before the canvas could get closer, a purple glow burst out from its inside, shattering it into large and small pieces. The metal stand was folded into a ring and fell to Emilia's feet.

"Died on the spot again?" Chloe asked.

"It's okay, it's okay." The team member who was staring at the machine's display said, "Fifty-three percent of consciousness, on the largest rag." ”

Emilia stood up and walked over to the scattered pieces of canvas.

The largest rag arched its two corners, pressed against the ground, backed away for some distance, and then scrambled towards the metal box standing near the entrance. It opened the door of the box, slipped into it, and slammed the door shut.

An Asian man named Ziang is standing next to a metal box. He lowered his head, pressed his hands to his cheeks, and stared at the ground at his feet with an expression that was even more exaggerated than that of the protagonist of the painting.

"I ask again," Chloe walked to Ziang's side, "what the fuck are you?" ”

"How can this be—" Ziang didn't put down his hands, but continued to cover his cheeks, maintaining an exaggerated expression, "This is the first time we've met—it was a good plan—oh my God—what's going on—" He muttered angrily, and didn't mean to stop for a moment.

Emilia flung her right hand to the side of her body, her hair fluttering down the hand, and the sewage stuck to her hair broke away from the ends. "What the hell accent." She tilted her head and said the first thing she said after the action began.

Ziang raised his head and looked at Emilia. "Uh...... Thank you, thank you. He replied inexplicably.
