Text: Chapter 1
Dylan Bansley is the object of the most jealousy of the town's original residents. Although this has something to do with his appearance, work and personality, the most important thing is that he has won the favor of Rachel, a well-known beauty in the town.
In this small town, where all the original residents know each other, Rachel, who is gentle and kind, generous and decent, naturally attracts attention. People who watched her grow up even regarded her marriage as a topic after dinner.
However, to everyone's dissatisfaction, the strange-looking Dylan was fortunate enough to become Rachel's childhood friend and successfully distorted her aesthetics.
To briefly describe Dylan's image, from the bottom up: he has two small feet that are not appropriate for his age, small enough that anyone who sees it thinks he is just a child until he looks up. His legs weren't very straight, and the flesh at the base of his thighs grew a little laterally, which made his ass tilt out at a strange angle. His upper body is not bloated, but it has absolutely no muscles, and it can give you a feeling of "poking it will soften wherever you poke it" through clothes. Finally, his face ...... A pair of bulging cheeks squeezed his eyes very small, and at the same time made his eyebrows appear too large. The flat lips are torn apart to the sides, as if they can touch the base of the ear with a little more force. On the whole face, the only normal thing is a rough nose, but unfortunately the tip of the nose is a little upturned, so that the nostrils can be seen when people are looking at each other.
Dylan works at the university, which is one of the reasons why the original residents are unhappy with him.
No, this sentence is to be said separately. Indigenous people loved the prosperity that college brings. The increase in consumers has led to an increase in local turnover, which is of course a good thing. What people don't like is the university's re-planning of land, the forced acquisition of part of the farmland, and the "sonic laboratory" that everyone calls it.
Dylan happened to work in this lab, and he was quite a significant researcher.
Every once in a while, there are annoying noises coming from the lab that are difficult to describe. The noise would come far away at a time, causing the dogs in the city to bark along with it.
Some of the indigenous residents have formed a team to ask the laboratory for an explanation. They asked Dylan by name to come forward. On the one hand, everyone only knows Dylan alone, and on the other hand, they want to embarrass Dylan by the way. As it happens, the university also wanted Dylan to come forward, after all, he was the only one who could explain the purpose of the experiment, its significance, and its impact on the scientific community.
However, one thing didn't go as planned by both sides - Dylan suddenly disappeared, and he reappeared the next morning after things had calmed down. A cleaner found him in a locker somewhere. That's right, it's the kind of elongated cabinet. He had fallen asleep in a comfortable position sitting in a high chair with his head in a loop fixed to the top of the cabinet. If it weren't for the cleaner who saw a plastic bottle with a yellowish liquid under the chair and the other employees gathered and shouted, "What was that plastic bag next to the bottle?" "Maybe Dylan can save his face.
Dylan is the kind of person who walks head-on with someone, will take the initiative to step aside, and will say thank you to the other person. This kind of character of hiding when something happens is actually not hated. What people are not used to seeing is the strange behavior he made because of his personality.
Take, for example, Dylan and Rachel's wedding. After the pastor said, "I declare you, husband and wife," Rachel should have lifted one foot slightly and moved the other half step back, flat on the instep, and then leaned forward to complete the elegant kiss. However, the fact is that Rachel, who is slender and taller, is a head taller than Dylan, and as a result, it is not Rachel who leans over on tiptoe, but Dylan! And his abnormally cocked ass without leaning over!
Surprisingly, Dylan, who has always been submissive, has a secret that even Rachel doesn't know.
The basement of Dylan's house is littered with all sorts of radio equipment that he made himselfβthis is not a Dylan secret, the whole city knows it. Every few weeks, Rachel holds a yard auction to sell some of the equipment for scrap metal.
The secret stems from a radio signal that Dylan stumbled upon. He wanted to intercept the signal, but found that it was not an ordinary sound wave.
Dylan's curiosity was piqued. He took days off, locked himself in the basement, and eventually built a machine that shouldn't have been in the folk.
As a result, Dylan's machine, along with all of his research over the past few days, was confiscated by an organization called the Guild.
Dylan hasn't mentioned this to anyone so far.
Ever since Dylan had contact with this so-called "guild", the former's entanglement has not stopped. On the one hand, Dylan desperately needs a sense of security. Over the course of several years, he had prepared multiple lockers similar to the ones mentioned above in the places where he might appear, in order to isolate himself from "danger" at all times. On the other hand, he's the kind of guy who likes to listen to outside news while keeping himself safe β which is why he's obsessed with radio.
Therefore, while Dylan distanced himself from the guild, he couldn't help but inquire about the guild. This entanglement haunted him until one evening.
On this day, the long-standing tranquility of the town was disrupted. In the central square of the university, a female college student is charred in public, and the news seems to spread to every corner of the city in a matter of seconds.
On the evening of the incident, Dylan used his fork to flick the crumbs of broccoli from his pasta.
The TV in the living room was playing an explosive piece of news. Donald's face takes up most of the screen.
Rachel slowly got up after eating a small salad and walked towards the bathroom. "Cooking makes me sweat, I'm going to take a shower." She said, "Brush your teeth later, go to the bedroom and wait." Don't leave broccoli behind. β
Just then, the landline phone in the living room rang.
Dylan was startled by the sudden ringing - he did jump, then forced a calm cough before he walked into the living room and picked up the phone.
"Mr. Bansley," a middle-aged man's voice came from the other end of the line, "do you know where Smith House is?" β
"What?" Dylan said confusedly, "Sorry, I didn't hear you." β
"Do you know where the Smith Mansion is?" The man repeated.
"I don't understand." Dylan said, "Who are you, please?" β
"We've met, Dylan Bansley." The man paused for a moment, "to answer the question," he said in an accentuated tone, "Do you know where the Smith Mansion is?" β
Dylan's whole body trembled, and he almost grabbed the microphone and threw it off. "You, you, I thought I had forgotten ......," he said incoherently.
"Answer the question." The man interrupted Dylan.
"When, of course I do. On the north side of the town, on a small hillside. β
"If you want to join, go now."
Dylan spun around in a circle, only to get the phone line wrapped around himself.
"Drive that white van." The man continued, "When the time comes, you'll hide in the carriage and use the machine you invented to detect some data. β
Without waiting for Dylan to respond, he hung up the phone.
Even though the scene described by the other party hit his heart, Dylan hesitated for a moment - when he broke free from the phone line, the bathroom light was just shining down the half-hidden door, reflecting Rachel's tall figure on the ground outside the door.
Dylan walked briskly to the bathroom door, reached for the door frame, poked out half of his head, and looked inside.
"You're not bothered." Rachel didn't look back and said, "Not this time, I want to wash it alone." β
"No, I didn't mean that." Dylan responded, "I gotta get out." β
"Now?!" Rachel looked at Dylan in surprise. "Because of the phone call just now? Who called? β
"It's one, one, people. He's going to buy the machine I invented. β
"Tell him to talk about it tomorrow."
"Yes, tonight......" Dylan's voice grew quieter, "I'm sorry." I'll explain it to you when I get back. He retracted his head and ran towards the garage as if he were flying.
"Dylan Bansley! Are you kidding me! Rachel shouted, "I didn't let you beg me once tonight!" You give me a hurry ......"
Dylan, who had already entered the garage, couldn't hear the rest of the words.
