Section B, Chapter 2: Harbour Avenue (Anusen)
"Free port, no visa is required for entry. The visa officer in the visa hut in front of the port city said impatiently.
"And what is this house for?" Anusen was puzzled.
"It's just a formality, who is idle and will look at your visa?" The visa officer was very disdainful: "So you don't need to sign and hurry into the city, what so much nonsense." β
Speechless, Anusen relapsed into his horse and steered it towards the city gates.
"Look, I said I don't need a visa, right?" laughed Mad Dog.
"Okay......" the knight sighed.
Entering the gates of the port, the sunset had already dimmed.
In front of the city gate were two guards, dressed in sackcloth. They threw their spears and wooden shields on the ground beside them, munching on dried fish and pungent rum.
This discipline also came to guard the gates...... Anusen looked at the other group of guards wandering the streets: this was not a patrol at all, it was just shopping.
After a short time of slow progress, Anusen looked at the large pier by the sea. Several ships, large and small, are moored here, and sailors and porters are scattered in sight. The sunset had come to an end in the distance, and several sailing ships and steam-engine ships were still adrift on the windless expanse of the ocean.
Another group of guards passed by, and they were all very drunk. One of the drunks, who was singing loudly, was barely able to walk by being carried along.
"They all look pretty relaxed...... It's nice to be a guard here. The lazy voice of the mad dog came from beside him. He leaned over and continued to quip, "You see, all you need to do is take a symbolic walk every day, and drink unconscious before leaving work - it's exciting to think that the day goes by like this." β
Looking at the vendors selling all kinds of snacks and souvenirs on the street, Anusen glanced at the mad dog: "You also want to live such a chaotic life? I bet they're going to hire and take in a madman. β
"Obviously I didn't want to live that boring life anymore, so I left Tomeca City, right?" Cereya twisted her neck leisurely, "Well, although traveling with you is tiring, it's not boring after allβit's just that it would be better if a certain knight was a little funr." β
"You're more interesting than me to find anyone here, and there are definitely a lot of sailors like you. β
"Forget it, our Mr. Knight can't afford to joke at all......" Mad Dog sighed: "Maybe after finding your daughter, you won't have a stiff face." You've been silent for a month, and you've only gotten better in the last two or three days. β
Silent I admit it, but do I have a strained face...... Anusen decided not to stir up new controversial topics: "It's possible that the locals here have met my daughter and Lolo. A few words of rumor are enough. β
"yes, yes...... A beautiful silver-haired girl who looked to be fifteen years old at best, blind and in a wheelchair, and a talking ball of light were too conspicuous to be memorable. Mad Dog said this at a brisk pace, and after taking a breath, he asked the question: "Have you ever wondered if we should stay here if there are no rumors?"
"What do you mean?" the knight didn't react.
"That means - your daughter and the glowing orb haven't reached the Frozen Lands at all, have they, then, why do we need to hire a ship to go to Canorea? Canorea shouldn't have a passage to the Nether, so don't worry that your daughter chose that passage in the Fourteenth World to go directly to the Frozen Lands. β
Mad Dog paused for a moment and continued, "Think about it, how fast can a girl with a disabled leg and a wheelchair walk?
"So......" Anusenlen paused for a moment, "if that's the case, you just have to wait here - almost everyone who goes to the Canolea continent has to come to this port to take a ship." They should be no exception. β
"Isn't the big question whether your daughter went to the Permafrost or not?" Cereya frowned, "Or, do they know the way here?"
"I'm afraid there is no need to worry, Luo Luo knows the route. That being said, Anusen himself was a little unsure: "As for whether she will come...... My daughter's words, with what I know about her, will definitely be. β
"By the time you're finally able to hear me, there's still a problem here - what about the Shadow Demons? Apparently those things weren't coming for you, and they didn't continue to attack you after you were injured and fell - but many people saw them chased out of the city. It's been so many days, and your daughter's safetyβ"
- Absolutely. She had Lolo with her. Anusen did not want to think about the possible tragedy: "Moreover, I gave her all the amulets. β
"Does she know how to use this thing?" mad dog pointed out sharply, "I didn't say you, Mr. Knight...... It's not a good habit to keep the past hidden. β
He also wanted to inquire about Elria's origins, and if I came from the Fifteenth World, which had been destroyed twenty years ago...... Mad Dog's instincts always make him uncomfortable: "Everyone has things they don't want to say, Mad Dog." It's rude to always ask about someone's past. β
"Well, I understand......" After the unexpected speech, Mad Dog shrugged his shoulders: "When you want to speak, I am always waiting." β
This guy ...... The knight suddenly wanted to laugh: "It's like you really plan to go with me all the time." Don't forget that we agreed to just find my daughter together. β
"Well, there's no need to keep that kind of agreement. Mad Dog laughed, "But anyway, I haven't found your daughter yet." If we don't hear from them, I'm afraid we'll have to stay here for a few more days - there's nothing wrong with relaxing with me. β
"I'll go to the pier in a moment and ask if there's any news of my daughter...... You should take your luggage to the hotel first. The knight, who had decided to compromise, looked down the street on the right, and the sign of an inn came into view: "At the end of this street there is a shop that seems to be doing very well." β
"Which one?" Mad Dog's attention was completely absorbed by a scantily clad woman walking by, and he didn't look forward at all.
"The ...... with the iron sign that says Sea Urchin Hotel" The knight sighed: "Forget it, let's split up here first, you go to book a room first...... Hey, are you listening?"
"Ah, yes, I'm listening. Mad Dog was looking at the woman's back earnestly.
"Is it really okay, you ......" the knight was a little sad.
"Okay, okay, no problem - don't worry, mad dog. Looking back at the woman, he made a promise with little credibility.
"And said it was okay...... When you're riding a horse, you're looking ahead!" Anusen became more and more deflated: "Don't go to the wrong hotel, there are many hotels around here." If you go to another house, I'll have to look for it for a long time. β
"It is true that there are quite a few hotels, but the port itself is not at all as big as expected...... "Mad Dog looked left and right, "Speaking of which, I really want to deliberately go wrong and try it once - look at the rich expression of our Mr. Knight." β
"You can try, I promise I won't kill you. Anusen grabbed the reins and jumped off his horse: "Lead my horse to the stableβdon't forget, ask the boss too." β
After the mad dog hummed and took the reins, the knight walked to the docks.
