Chapter 24: The Lich and the Dragon
Snow-capped woods on the outskirts of Rinlopez.
The space slowly twisted and tore apart.
Brutus walked out of the Space Gate in a papal white robe and came to Simon and Ekleon.
The three lichs looked at each other.
Brutus whispered, "I heard there's a dragon?"
"Yes. Simon spread his hands and said, "Maybe it's more than one." That's why we called you over, and it might be tricky. β
"That's not the point. The point is...... Does he have any treasure?", Brutus added, emphatically, "I mean the gold coins." β
Simon and Ekleon were stunned for a moment.
"It should ...... Possible...... Probably so. We don't know either. What do you want gold for?" asked Ekleon.
"It's a little secret, I can't tell you yet. Let's go, let's go track down the dragon now. Brutus chuckled.
Well, very authentic lich laughter.
At this moment, the soul fire in Brutus's eyes was incomparably luxuriant.
......
The desert night sky was filled with stars, like fireflies in the sky.
After a while, after making sure that he couldn't change anything, the little orc came ashore in disgrace. Squatting on the shore, looking very depressed.
"What's wrong? do you want to be like me?" asked Andrew, cross-legged.
The little orc glanced up at Andrew and nodded heavily. Then he looked at Andrew expectantly.
"Sorry, that's not possible at the moment. Unless you're a magician like me. Just now it was magic, not how effective water was. With that, Andrew shaved the bridge of the little orc's collapsed nose ostentatiously, turned around and left.
"Become! magician!" the little orc suddenly cried out, then knelt down and gave Andrew a crisp knock.
Andrew was stunned, turned around slowly, and looked at the little orc lying on the ground.
When he looked up, the little orc still had sand on his forehead. Just now, my entire forehead turned red. It became the color of red-black-red-black. Looking at Andrew expectantly.
"You want to be a magician?"
"Yes!"
"But I've never seen an orc mage, not a single one. Orcs have a shorter lifespan than humans, making them unsuitable for magicians. β
The little orc looked at Andrew with a confused expression, as if he didn't understand well. Immediately afterwards, he repeated what he had just done, kowtowed vigorously, and then shouted, "Become!
Andrew was helpless, so he could only smile and turn away.
The little orc continued to kneel in place, looking at Andrew from afar.
Bending down, Andrew gently picked up the sleeping Christina. Christina opened her eyes slightly, looked at Andrew, who had regained her original appearance, and smiled. Happily caressed Andrew's face.
"Yes, I'm back in. It just so happens that there is a lot of water here. Go back to sleep. β
"No, I'm going to get up and look at you. Christina struggled to the ground, and then kept staring at Andrew, no matter how she looked.
"Become! mage!" cried the little orc again, his forehead bleeding.
"What's wrong with him?" asked Christina, noticing the little orc.
"Nothing. Andrew spread his hands and said, "He wants to learn magic from me, but orcs are not suitable for magic." β
"Can't you learn no matter how you learn?"
"No, it's just that nothing can be accomplished. At least it is impossible to be a powerful magician. As he spoke, Andrew looked at the little orc, chanted the incantation, and a light suddenly flashed in his pupils. Immediately afterwards, Andrew said to himself: "Medium magic potential, it should be considered strong among orcs." But from the perspective of elves, it is still more suitable for doing some work such as runes. The magician is not for him. β
"Become! magician!" the little orc shouted again. This is the fourth time, and my forehead is really bleeding. But he didn't seem to feel it at all, just blindly, looking at Andrew from afar with his eyes open.
"You see, we can't even communicate smoothly. I don't understand their language, and he doesn't understand ours very well. β
Christina suddenly looked at Andrew and said expectantly, "Perhaps, you can teach him something simple." It's just simple, just learn what he can learn. We should fulfill a child's wishes. β
Hearing this, Andrew couldn't help but be stunned for a moment. After much hesitation, he shouted at the little orc, "Come here!"
The little orc apparently understood this, scrambled to his feet, and then rushed to Andrew's side.
Bending down, Andrew touched the little orc's head and asked, "What about your parents?"
The little orc looked at Andrew with a confused expression.
"Parents, you know what I mean? Father, and Mother. β
"Slave!"
"They've been taken into slavery?"
"Dead!"
"I don't know, was I taken as a slave, or was I dead?"
"Slave!
Andrew's brow furrowed.
"Slave! dead!" the little orc repeated again, and then muttered a bunch of words: "Orcs are not slaves! Elder! Fight! Abyss! Victory!"
Andrew was even more confused, and the more he talked, the more confused he became.
"Become! magician!" The little orc said it for the fifth time.
Turning his face sideways, Andrew asked Christina, "Do you want me to teach him magic?"
"Hmm. Christina nodded.
"Okay. I am willing to fulfill a child's wishes, but not his, but yours. You are the real child. Turning back, Andrew turned to the little orc and asked, "You, name." β
"Turu! Turu Akbaba!"
"Okay, Turu Akbaba, become a magician! I'll teach you!"
Tulu seemed to understand, and screamed excitedly, jumping for a while.
Christina smiled sweetly.
"Roaring ββ!"
In the midst of this happy laughter, a dragon roar came from afar.
Andrew was so frightened that he quickly turned his head and his eyes widened.
......
In the endless desert, Andreevich coiled in the shape of a dragon on the highest rock, raised his head, and let out a long roar.
"Roarββ! roarββ! roar ββ!"
A continuous dragon roar echoed in the night sky, one after another, drifting into the distance. Other than that, the whole world is quiet.
After a while, two flashes of light appeared on the western horizon. Those were the other two golden dragons.
Andreevich finally stopped hissing, turned his head, and waited quietly.
Soon, two golden dragons, which looked much bigger and bigger than him, came in front of him, hanging in the air with huge wings.
"Haven't you found her yet?"
"No, but I'm sure she's around here. β
"How do you assume she's nearby?"
"Gold coins. Andreevich stretched out a paw and showed the gold coin wrapped in ragged linen: "Part of this is her buried treasure, using dragon magic." If I'm not mistaken, I think it was buried yesterday. She didn't know how to cover up, so I found out. β
"You said part of it was her buried treasure, but what about the other part?"
"Forehead ......"
"You're not going to tell me that you've been looking for her for so many days, and you've made some money by the way, right?"
And ...... Not really, it's just that I'm in trouble. Of course, the trouble has been solved. This is what they compensated me. β
The two golden dragons looked coldly.
Andreevich's head was hanging to the ground.
After a moment of silence, one of the golden dragons said, "We are very disappointed that your mission has been carried out very badly. That's all I can say to you. Do you know where she is?"
"No...... Not quite sure, but certainly around here. She didn't dare to take on dragon form, because it would be too easy for us to spot. So...... So she should be moving in human form. β
"Didn't you think that your existence in the form of a dragon would be very easy for her to spot? You are still calling us here, and the whole desert probably knows that there is a golden dragon here, right? Do you think you are hunting?"
Being said like this, Andreevich was stunned for a moment and even more ashamed.
"Look for it, remember to hide your figure. Otherwise, we may never find him. One of the golden dragons turned back to the other.
"Hmm. β
In the desert, three golden dragons spread their wings and flew in three different directions.
Andrew and Christina were less than five kilometers away from them, and they could even be seen clearly. Soon, though, all three figures disappeared from the night sky. It's not the kind that flies away, but it disappears in place.
Andrew, who was hiding behind the rocks and watching secretly, suddenly widened his eyes: "Are they hiding?"
"What to do?" asked Christina in a panic.
Leaning against the rock, Andrew's eyes flickered, and he didn't know how to answer for a moment. And on his forehead sweat came down.
The invisible enemy is the most terrifying. You don't even know if they're gone, or if they're just staring right next to you. Any action has the potential to be exposed.
After thinking about it, Andrew could only drag Christina and run towards the oasis next to him, ran away a few steps, and turned around to take Tulu with him, who was still stunned in place.
After settling them down in the grass of the oasis, Andrew sneaked out again, leading the two horses into the oasis as well.
"We're just going to have to wait, wait for a while, and then we'll get out of here when they really don't find us and leave. β
"Will they find us?" asked Christina.
Hesitating, Andrew could only reply, "I don't know." β
Yes, he really didn't know. And now I can't even leave this oasis.
The vision of the dragon flying in the sky is so good that as long as you dare to act under his nose, it is difficult for two people to walk alone in the wilderness without being discovered. The point is, you don't know if they're on top of your head or not.
And if they really fall to the ground and search inch by inch, then ...... No matter where they hide, they can't hide. Because dragons have powerful sentient abilities. Andrew is okay, after all, his appearance has changed, and his breath has changed. But Christina ......
The journey to the outlaw suddenly became more tedious. They could only hide quietly in an oasis, not even daring to show their faces or speak loudly. The only thing to be thankful for is that there is water and enough dry food to carry. However, will an oasis with water become the focus of the search?
Andrew could only silently pray that the other party would not have such thoughts.
Time ticked by.
Just in case, Andrew had to hide Christina in the lake.
Speaking of which, the dragon is really powerful, even without using any magic, she doesn't need much air, and can always hide in the lake. It only takes an occasional disembarkation.
As for Andrew and the little orcs?
They weren't on the Golden Dragon's pursuit list at all, and even if they were on the ground, it wasn't a big problem. Of course, it's better not to attract the attention of the golden dragon, otherwise, let the golden dragon follow them to Christina, and it will all be over.
In order to make his presence seem more plausible, Andrew even pretended to be ready to build a house not far from the oasis. Of course, it's just for show. His full attention was on the movement of the golden dragon. Although he could not see anything, he could not hear anything.
Invisible enemies, camouflage. It's a really bad feeling, it's terrible. However, this seems to be the only way to do it now.
Andrew took the little orcs to pretend to settle here, pretending to cut wood and repair masonry. Christina is hiding at the bottom of the lake. They only had an hour or two a day in the evening, and Christina could see each other when she went ashore for a breath.
Two days, two full days, there was no movement around at all, no golden dragon, and no dragon roar. Some are just rubble, strong winds, and scorching suns that abound in the desert. And, of course, the wolves at night, the lizards that come out of the cave at any time.
"Are they gone?"
"I don't know, but I think we should have waited. Wait two more days, two days. We are only a day away from Uduffin. If after two days they don't see any movement, we'll leave for Udufen. β
"Hmm. Christina nodded, and dived back into the lake.
Tulu stood aside and watched ignorantly. Speaking of ignorance, I probably see some clues. At least in the past two days, not only did he not cause trouble for Andrew, but he was also very cooperative. It can be seen that it is a clever orc.
"Let's go, go back. β
On the starry night, Andrew once again took Turu on his way back from the oasis to their "temporary residence".
It was a boulder, a crooked cave that was so windy on all sides that it couldn't even be called a cave. After two days of repairs, Andrew blocked all those airy holes one by one.
It's only two hundred meters from the oasis.
As he walked, Andrew cautiously looked around, paying attention to the movements around him.
After two days, he felt like he was going to collapse. Maybe it's a good thing that the golden dragon appears below, maybe ...... If they don't recognize Andrew's identity, Andrew can fool them and buy a little time. Of course, it's just maybe. If recognized, it's over.
Just as he was halfway there, a voice suddenly sounded behind him.
"Hello, have you ever seen a dragon?"
Andrew jerked his head back.
It was Brutus who appeared in front of him.
