Chapter 544: Goblet of Fire and Giant Love
The next day was Saturday, and normally most students would have breakfast late. But it wasn't just Harry and Ron who woke up earlier than usual on weekends.
When the four of them entered the entrance hall, they found that there were already dozens of people wandering around the hall, some eating toasted slices, but all of them were carefully observing the burning goblet.
It was on top of the stool in the middle of the hall that usually used to put the sorting hats.
A thin line of gold was fished out of the floor around it, forming a circle with it as its center and a radius of 10 feet.
"Did anyone put a name in there?" Ron asked a 13-year-old girl.
"The Durmstrang men are all gone," she replied, "but I haven't seen any Hogwarts people put their names in." β
"I bet some of them threw their names in after we left last night. Harry said.
"If it were me, I'd do the same, I don't want everybody to see it. What if that cup spits out your name right away?"
Someone laughed behind their backs.
Van Lin turned around and was thrilled to see Fred, George, and Lee Jordan rushing down the stairs.
"That's it. Fred triumphantly whispered to Harry, Ron, Van Lin, and Hermione, "Just served." β
"Serve what?" asked Ron.
"Age-boosters, brain-dead," Fred said.
"One drop per person. George rubbed his hands together excitedly. "We'll only need to be a few months older. β
"If any of the three of us wins, we will split the thousand gold Galleons equally. Jordan grinned.
"It's hard to guarantee that it won't work, you know. Hermione admonished, "That's Dumbledore, what do you think ......"
"Maybe Dumbledore is confused, or maybe he doesn't care about something as simple as that......" Fred said.
Van Lin came over and didn't say anything. He patted Fred on the shoulder in respect.
"You think so, too?" Fred's eyes lit up.
Van Lin didn't speak, he wanted to see something more interesting.
"I don't think you're going to make it. Hermione said
Fried, George, and Lee ignore her.
"Are you ready?" Fred asked the other two, trembling with excitement, "Come on, I'll go first." β
Harry watched, curious, Fred pulled a piece of parchment out of his pocket, wrote "Fred WeasleyβHogwarts" and walked straight to the edge of the line, standing there, moving his ankles like a diver preparing to jump down from a height of 50 feet.
After exercising, under the gaze of everyone, he took a deep breath and stepped in.
For a split second, Harry thought he had succeeded......
George must have thought so too, for he let out a cry of triumph and jumped in after Fred......
The two of them high-fived and celebrated, standing in the age circle and swaggering.
"Wait, there's a good show. Fan Lin said secretly.
"What's wrong, how's the ghost?"
"Fred, why don't you put the name in. Van Lin suddenly shouted.
"That's what I'm going to do. Fred said, and the two men looked at each other, and then they threw their names into the Goblet of Fire.
The flame of the cup of fire swelled violently, and the blue flame was very bewitching.
"Perfect. The two men said, looking very proud.
Li was also a little moved, and he was also ready to enter.
It's just that the reaction of the Goblet of Fire is a little too ...... Uh, that's weird.
In an instant, there was a sizzling sound, and blue sparks erupted from the Goblet of Fire that struck Fred and George, and the two twins were thrown out of the gold coil as if they had been thrown by an invisible shot thrower, and fell heavily on the cold, hard stone floor ten feet away from the circle, with two loud thuds, and even more unfortunate that both of them grew long white beards at the same time.
The whole hall burst into laughter, and they laughed as they got up and looked at each other.
"I warned you a long time ago. A low, smirkling voice rang out, and everyone turned to see Professor Dumbledore coming in from outside. He looked at Fried and George, smiling. "I suggest you both go to Madam Pomfrey. She was already looking after Miss Faircove of Ravenclaw and Mr. Himasi of Hufflepuff, both of whom had decided to grow a little older, though I must say that neither of them had as good beards as yours. β
Lee Jordan laughed so hard that he accompanied Fred and George to the hospital, while Harry, Ron, Van Lin, and Hermione giggled and went to breakfast.
The decoration in the hall has been changed in the morning. Since it's Halloween, a swarm of bats flapps their wings around the enchanting canopy, and hundreds of carved pumpkins peek out from all corners. Harry walked towards Dean and Finigan. The two of them were discussing the potential competition for students at Hogwacher.
"Rumor has it that Warrington got up early in the morning and threw the name in," Dice told Harry, "and it was the big man, from Slytherin, who looked like an otter." β
Harry, who had fought Quidditch with Warrington, shook his head in disgust, "People can't ask for one from Slytherin. β
"All the Hufflepuff was talking about Diggory," Finigan said contemptuously. "But I don't think he would have the courage to risk his little white face. β
"Listen!" Hermione said suddenly.
The people in the entrance hall were cheering, they were all spinning around their chairs, and Angelina walked into the hall, grinning awkwardly.
Angelina, the chaser of Gryffindor's Quidditch team, was tall and dark-looking, and she walked over to their side and sat down.
"Alright, that's it, I just put the name over!"
"You're kidding!" Ron was surprised.
"Are you 17 years old?" asked Harry.
"That's, she didn't grow a beard, did she?" said Ron.
"I just had my birthday last week. Angelina said.
"Well, I'm glad that Gryffindor has finally signed up," Hermione said, "and I wish you had been chosen, Angelina." β
"Thank you, Hermione. Angelina smiled at her.
"That's right, you're better than that golden fly Diggory. Finigan's remarks caused several of the Hufflepuff students who had passed by their tables to frown at him.
Ron asked Harry and Van Lin and Hermione, "Then let's leave the hall after breakfast." What are you doing today?"
"We haven't visited Hagrid yet. Harry said.
"Okay. "As long as he doesn't ask me to contribute a few fingers to those snails." β
"I just want to see Noble, and as for the snails......," Van Lin muttered, "that thing is terrible." β
Hermione's face suddenly lit up.
"I just found out," she said happily, "wait for me, okay?" I'll hurry upstairs to get the badge box. β
As Hermione ran up the marble steps, Ron said angrily, "What does she look like?"
"Hey, Ron," Van Lin said suddenly, "that's your friend......"
The Beauxbatons students walked through the front door from the outside.
The girl was among them.
The people around the burning goblet gave them a way out, and everyone watched eagerly.
Madame Maxim followed her students into the hall. She lined up the students in a column. Then one by one, they stepped into the age circle and threw the parchment into the blue and white flames. As soon as each name entered the forest, the cup of fire immediately turned red and sparks splashed.
Wait, red sparks......
Belch......
Gabrielle didn't come, she wasn't old enough.
Fleur raised her head confidently, Beauxbatons would only be the candidate, and the rest would be foils.
Fleur glanced defiantly in the direction of Van Lin, and then ...... And then there was no then, and until now, Beauxbatons has been a collective activity.
"What do you think will happen to those who aren't chosen?" Ron whispered to Harry as the girl threw her name into the fire, "Are they going back to school or are they going to stay and watch the game?"
Thankfully, Ron didn't notice Fleur's gaze.
If he looks like a nymphomaniac, this is undoubtedly very embarrassing, these are his friends, and Fleur will definitely tease him.
Van Lin thought so, and then, this was not too far from the truth.
"I don't know. Harry said, "I guess it's going to stay...... Isn't Madame Maxim going to stay and be a referee?"
"You should have noticed that they're going to be here for a whole school year, and the exchange hasn't started yet, so these people can't leave so quickly. Fan Lin said helplessly.
"Meeting?" said Ron.
"According to the charter, these are all necessary things. Van Lin said.
After all the Beauxbatons students had signed up, Madame Maxime led them out of the hall and into the venue.
Ron moved towards the front door, staring at them. "And where do they sleep?" he asked.
The box for the badge is out.
"Oh, alright, hurry up. Ron said as he jumped down the stone steps. His eyes were still on the back of the girl, and Fleur was now walking across the lawn with Madame Maxime.
They approached Hagrid's hut on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
The secret of Beauxbatons' camp was revealed. The huge pink blue carriage that had brought them was parked 200 yards from the front door of Hagrid's hut. Students are getting on the bus. Giant Pegasus pulling carts grazes in makeshift paddocks on the side.
Harry knocked on Hagley's door, and Hagrid answered, pushing it open to see who was knocking, and when he saw that it was them, he said, "I thought you guys had forgotten where I lived!"
"Hagrid, we're really busy. Hermione stopped again. She looked up at Hagrid, unable to say a word.
Hagrid wore his best (and terrible) plush brown coat with a yellow and orange plaid tie. And that's not too bad. Unfortunately, he apparently tried to cut his hair with a lot of what looked like axle lubricant, and maybe he had tried Zabil's ponytail, but unfortunately there was too much hair, and he couldn't make it and tie it in two and hang down. This outfit didn't suit Hagrid at all.
To be honest, Fan Lin wants to complain very much, and everyone should be in the same mood.
Maybe they didn't realize what Hagrid was trying to do, but ......
Well, spring for the giants is coming.
Remember what Hagrid was called for Madame Maxim, Madame Maxim?
If Madame Maxim hadn't been so tall, Hagrid would not have been the only suitor.
No one robbed him, at least, in the UK.
Hermione giggled at him for a moment. Then, holding back from commenting on it, he asked, "Hey, where's the snail?"
"Near the pumpkin patch," said Hagrid pleasantly, "they grew bigger and bigger, and now they were about six feet long." The only trouble was that they began to slaughter each other. β
"Oh my God, really?" said Hermione, giving a few people a look and telling them not to say anything about it.
"yes," Hagrid said sadly, "but that's okay, now I'm keeping them in separate boxes." There are about 20 of them. β
"Oh, I'm lucky. Ron said. Hagrid didn't hear his voice.
Hagrid's cottage had only one room, with a large bed in the corner covered with a rag mattress.
In front of the stove, a large table and a few chairs were set up, and a large number of prosciutto and dead birds hung from the ceiling to hang above the table.
They sat down at the table, and Hagrid began to make tea. They soon became immersed in the discussion of the Three Witches. It seems that Hagrid is as excited about this as they are. "Wait and see. "Just wait, and you'll see something you've never seen before." The first task...... Ah, I can't say. β
"Say it, Hagrid. Harry, Ron, and Hermione urged him, but he just shook his head.
"I don't want to break the rules because of you?" said Hagrid, "but I can tell you that it's going to be spectacular. I never thought I'd live long enough to watch the Three Witches again. β
"Yes......" Van Lin wanted to say something, but if he broke the rules, with Ron's big mouth......
"When will we be able to meet Nobo?" Van Lynn asked.
"Soon, he's coming back. Hagrid said without thinking.
It's a pity that no one heard what Van Lin meant, thinking that Van Lin was just caring about Noble.
They ended up having breakfast with Hagrid, not much. Hagrid made what he called a beef casserole, and then, Hermione found a large paw in the dish, and the four of them lost their appetite.
They like to ask Hagrid to tell them what tasks will be in the competition, and they like to speculate on which of the applicants might be chosen. They also wondered if Fred and George's beards were removed.
This can be regarded as the most leisurely time, no learning, no magic, this should be the most relaxing moment, and for Van Lin, it can only be enjoyed at Hogwarts, under the leadership of three people.
The sky began to rain around three o'clock in the afternoon, and Van Lin sat by the fire, his fingertips dancing with some blue dots of light, listening to the gentle clicking of raindrops against the window, and then watching Hagrid mend his socks and argue with Hermione about the maid elves, and then show him the badge,.. It's all very pleasant.
"It's cruel to them, Hermione," he said, looking serious, threading the coarse yellow sand thread through the giant bone needle. "It's their nature to take care of human beings, it's what they like to do, and paying them would be even more insulting to them. β
But Harry and Van Lin gave Dobby freedom, and Dobby was happy. Hermione said. "And Dobby is paid under Van Lin, ...... a month"
"Three gold gallons. Van Lin hastened to say that after being reprimanded and enslaved by Hermione, Van Lin forcibly added two gold Galleons to Dobby.
...... As you can imagine, Dobby looked like he was going to die at the beginning.
"Yes, yes, you can find exceptions in every kind, and I'm not saying that there aren't weird elves who want to be free, but you'll never be able to convince most of them to do that, no, impossible, Hermione. β
Hermione looked annoyed and tucked her badge back into her cloak, sulking a little, she picked up her book, as if she wasn't going to continue.
It got dark after half past five, and Ron, Harry, Van Lin, and Hermione decided it was time to go back to the castle.
Not just for the Halloween dinner, but mainly for the announcement of the school players at that time.
"I'll go with you. Hagrid said, putting his needlework aside, "Please wait a moment." β
He got up, walked over to the bed, and fumbled around the cabinet with drawers to find something.
At first they didn't pay much attention to it, and then they smelled a bad smell.
Ron coughed and asked, "Hagrid, what's that?" "Huh?" Hagley turned around and took a large bottle, "You don't like it?"
"Is it cologne?" Hermione was a little annoyed. "Uh...... It's Cologne," Hagrid muttered, blushing, "maybe more," he mumbled, "I'll wash it off, I'll ...... later."
He stammered out of the hut. They saw him washing vigorously in the bucket outside the window.
"Cologne?" Hermione was amazed, "Rubeus Hagrid?"
"What's on that hair and clothes?" Harry whispered.
"Look!" Ron suddenly pointed out the window.
Hagrid just stood up and turned. If he were to blush, it was nothing compared to what he was doing now. To keep Hagrid from spotting them, Harry, Ron, and Hermione cautiously stood up and looked out the window. Madame Maxim and the group of Bill Bethon students had just disembarked from the carriage, and it was evident that they were also preparing to go to the feast.
Hagrid was talking to Mrs. Massim. They couldn't hear what he was saying, but they could see his expression, obsession, and dreaminess as he spoke. Harry had only seen that look once, the way he had looked at the young dragon Nobo.
"He's going to go to the castle with her!" Hermione was a little annoyed, "I thought he was waiting for us." β
Hagrid followed Mrs. Maxim without looking back, and they struggled up the field. Beauxbatons students followed in their footsteps, trotting to keep up with their big steps.
"He likes her!" Ron thought incredulous. "Well, if they get to the point of having children, they're going to set a world record β I'm willing to bet their kids weigh a ton. β
"That's an exaggeration, they're not really giants. "Maybe there's going to be a normal human baby." β
"The premise is that Madame Maxim wants to see Haeg. Hermione was speechless, "Madame Maxim is beautiful and temperamental. β
"That maybe. Harry said, "It's rare to see someone this tall. β
Van Lin shrugged his shoulders, he remembered that Hagrid had nothing to do with Madame Maxime, and even if he did, it would take a long time.
"Maybe we should be good at him. Van Lin said.
"Help him?" Hermione said, "You?"
"I ...... What's wrong with me?"
Hermione blushed, "Forget it, I think it's better for girls to come, if I leave it to you......"
"You've been in love?" Ron asked suddenly.
"How could it be. Hermione yelled, "Girls know girls best, though, you shouldn't ......"
The next words were a meal of gibberish......
They walked out of the hut and closed the door. It was dark outside, and wrapped tightly in cloaks, they walked up the sloping grass.
"Oh, look, it's them!" Hermione whispered.
The Durmstrang rose from the lake to the castle.
Victor Krum and Karkaroff walked side by side, the other students scattered behind.
Ron looked at Krum excitedly, but Krum didn't look around. He arrived at the front door before the four men and went in before them.
The four of them arrived at the Great Hall, which was full of candles flickering and burning, and the flaming goblets had been moved to the teachers' desks and placed in front of Dumbledore's chair.
Fred and George...... Uh, their beards are gone...... The fact of frustration seems to have been accepted calmly.
"I hope it's Angelina. β
Four people sat down, Fried said.
"Me too. Hermione panted.
"It didn't take long to know. β
The Halloween dinner seemed to last longer than usual, probably because it was their second feast in two days, and everyone didn't like the elaborate food as much as usual. They all craned their necks to look around, showing impatient looks, and fidgeted from time to time to see if Dumbledore had finished eating.
Like them, Harry just wanted to finish his meal quickly and see who was chosen.
The gold discs were finally cleaned up and restored to their original cleanliness.
The noise in the hall continued unabated. But as soon as Dumbledore stood up, all the noise was gone, and Professor Karkaroff and Madame Maxime stood beside him, as nervous and hopeful as the others.
Lu's Bagmun smiled and winked at the students, while Mr. Crouch seemed aloof, even annoyed.
"Well, the goblet is almost ready, and the decision can be made," Dumbledore said, "and it will probably take a minute, so the student whose name is called should go to the end of the hall and walk down the staff table from this door to the next room." β
He pointed to the door behind the clerk, "They'll be there to take the first order." β
He took out his wand and swung it hard, extinguishing all but the candle in the carved pumpkin.
Everything is in the dark.
Only the burning goblets in the entire hall shone brightly, and the dazzling blue and white flames stinged the eyes. Everyone is watching, waiting, some are looking at their watches.
"It's time!" whispered Lee Jordanton, who sat two positions away from Van Lin.
