Section C, Chapter 13: The Wine Cellar (Seresia)

Is this the door?" Celeya squinted at the wooden door that opened and closed to the left and right in front of her—the fifth door from the left in this secluded little corner, and the soldier who had just stood guard next to the statue of the dragon god was indeed the same as he did.

I'm afraid I'll really have to spend some time learning the vernacular...... Mad Dog thought to himself: We're afraid we won't be able to get out of the Frozen Land until this damn Winter's Breath is over.

Grabbing the doorknob and pulling sharply, he felt a huge tug on his arm. This was accompanied by the sound of metal striking inside the door: a padlock was applied from the inside.

Damn, what's going on?, letting go of the handle, the angry mad dog kicked at the door with all his might: why didn't he tell me it was locked?

Never before had a lord locked the cellar of his castle!, turning around dissatisfied, Ceresya only felt her throat grow dryer and dryer.

However, as soon as he took a step, a wave of doubts came to his mind. Approaching the door again, Mad Dog immediately sensed that something was wrong with him, and that the cellar was locked from the inside.

Then there must still be someone in there...... Ceresya was puzzled by this: he had just kicked the door so hard, and the people inside would not react at all? unless he did it on purpose.

"Hey, people inside!" Thinking of this, the mad dog slammed the door twice with his fist, and the padlock was shaken with a loud noise: "Open the door!

Still no response, Cereya impatiently banged on the door again: "Hurry up and open the door for me!"

There was still no movement on the other side of the door, and Ceresya was annoyed that he was playing tricks on himself - even if he couldn't understand the Eurasian language he spoke, it didn't make sense to open the door without such a big movement.

"Damn, don't you play Lao Tzu for a fool? You really can't get in?" Mad Dog kicked out again angrily, and the cellar door clanged.

"You think it's safe to lock it?huh?" Sereya, who was deeply annoyed by being teased, glared at the cellar door angrily: "Okay, wait for me - see if I can kill you when I go in?!"

Deciding to force the door open, Seresa suppressed her anger and looked at the structure of the cellar door as calmly as she could.

The door panels are heavy and have padlocks...... Seresa carefully calculated in her heart: in this way, it is bound to be impossible to use the blade to directly cut the door or crash open.

With this in mind, the mad dog pressed his ear to the door and tapped the door with his knuckles, listening carefully to the dull echo.

Bringing her knuckles closer to the spindles on either side, Seresa struck from top to bottom, concentrating on identifying each note. Eventually, a subtle and distinct sound echoed in the cochlea: it indicated that the central part of the plank was damp and loose.

Sure enough, I found it just as I imagined...... Mad Dog felt a smug feeling in his heart: after doing dirty work for so many years, he definitely has this ability.

With another slight tap to confirm the range, Seresa drew her sword and squeezed it with her right hand.

Taking a step back, Mad Dog stabbed his sword into the loose wood above the right doorway. After testing the wood with a slight force with one hand, Seresya, who was sure that it was correct, pushed the sword with both hands and pierced the thick plank with force.

He shook the hilt of his sword and shook off the splinters of wood to adjust the blade to the most suitable angle. Mad Dog clenched his fists with his fingers crossed, slamming swiftly and violently into the end of the hilt.

The blade of the sword slashed upwards due to a sudden shift in the center of gravity, and the broken sawdust burst out of the cracks. Satisfied with the effect, Seresa increased the intensity and frequency of her hammering on the hilt of the sword.

In order to equalize the force on the junction of the wooden door and the axle, Seresa rhythmically hammered back and forth the front and back sections of the hilt, stopping from time to time to clear the build-up of wood chips.

Gradually, the cracks in the wooden door grew larger and larger, until the damp part was completely split from top to bottom. Removing the sawdust, Mad Dog pressed the hilt of his sword and pulled it out violently.

Approaching the crack in the door panel, Ceresya drew the dagger from her waist and carefully and slowly scraped the wood near the doorshaft. In less than three minutes of work, the body of the metal door shaft was detached from the protection of the wooden layer and appeared in front of the mad dog.

Nailed it...... He triumphantly pinched the shaft, pinned the dagger under the crack, and pried it off with all his might.

Throwing away the cold hitch, Cereya shook the right side of the door - he could start shaking slightly as the axle above it was removed. The strength of the swing gradually increased, and the mad dog felt the traction on it intently. After a few seconds of perception, he stopped moving, no longer shaking.

Inserting the dagger back into the scabbard at his waist, Mad Dog rested his hands on the top of the doorshaft. With all his strength, he slammed down the right side of the door. The force of this is so great that the door shaft at the bottom is forced out.

Kicking open the door that was still locked with a padlock, Ceresya squeezed sideways into the door. There was no candle in the cellar and it was slightly dim.

Why is there no one here? Mad Dog looked around and noticed this in astonishment.

There was no figure at all...... Ceresya hurriedly turned to look at the padlock: it was attached to a chain that connected the two doorknobs.

Something was wrong? Mad Dog instinctively drew his sword and became vigilant: the door was indeed locked from the inside. That is, there are definitely people left in this cellar.

"Hey, get out of here, don't hide!" the mad dog yelled, "Hear me?" I've smashed your damn door open, it's game over!"

The man seemed to have decided to hold on until the last moment, and remained silent.

Where could this man be hidden? Celesya looked around the dimly lit cellar again: behind some wine cabinet or barrel, perhaps?

Stepping down the low platform inside the door, Mad Dog walked past rows of wine cabinets and piles of wooden barrels. However, there is no one hiding anywhere at all.

There's probably a secret door or something...... Who knows how many underground passages there are in Snowcastle?Cereya felt a sense of unease come over her: maybe she should warn the guards later.

As he looked around for the secret door, an unusual scene caught his attention: the position of the barrels was extremely unnatural.

Only a dozen barrels were still stacked in place, and rows of unfading marks were evident on the nearby large expanse of the ground – hundreds of which had been placed not long ago.

Someone just transported the barrels...... The mad dog approached the barrels and stared intently at them: I remember Lucina saying that she had a very delicious dark beer at the dinner party—in the barrels. According to her, this sake is extremely laborious to brew, so it is difficult for ordinary people to drink it. In addition, she had heard that Mace was planning to reward them to the soldiers of Snowcastle.

Since it's a good wine, I, Uncle Lisen, have to taste it...... Seresa patted the barrel with satisfaction and decided to grab a glass to try first.

Coincidentally, there were several glasses on the small wooden table next to it. Picking one of the cleanest glasses, Seresa uncorked the barrel and poured half a glass of wine into it.

Shake the cup at a constant speed, and the mad dog spills the liquid on the ground. Seeing that the cup was almost clean, he couldn't wait to pour a full cup.

The color of this dark beer is really black beyond imagination...... Seresa casually glanced at the ground, then clenched her glass in shock.

The shape of the bubbles on the ground is definitely not caused by the beer itself...... Mad Dog carefully studied the wine that was seeping into the ground, and suddenly felt someone behind him staring at him.

Does it seem that he has hidden his body in some way? maybe it's a secret door, maybe it's a mage or something...... Mad Dog snorted disdainfully in his heart: But that's fine, I'll play with you.

Knowing this, Mad Dog deliberately maintained the expression of having just appreciated the wine, and squinted at the liquid in the glass.

Sniff it close to your nose and sniff it gently, and a terrible message from the tip of your nose comes to mind.

Slightly sweet and similar to the bitterness of hops, mixed with very small traces of Ala Buya grass, blood-locking flowers and bitter swamp leaves......

Sure enough, someone poisoned the wine.
