Section E, Chapter 8: Two Daughters (Anusen)

In the living room, four o'clock in the morning.

Constantly disturbed by the trapping, the knight let out a long yawn. The characters in the grammar book were now blurred and blackened in his eyes.

In order to expel his sleepiness, he picked up the copper kettle on the stove and poured himself a small cup of coffee. The fragrant, bitter smell did dispel the sleepiness, but they came back a moment later—even more intensely than before they had not been drunk.

The feeling of drowsiness made him more and more trance-like. Before he knew it, he suddenly realized that he had been reading the same line of sentences for more than ten minutes. After taking another big sip of coffee, he actually felt even more tired: the more he drank, the more his body tired from the journey reminded him that it was time to go to sleep.

After holding up for a moment again, the knight was already sleepy and nodded. After smashing his head on the book again, he rubbed his eyes and decided not to read the sleepy thing anymore.

Standing up, Anusen stretched out. Fighting his spirits, he staggered and began to walk, keeping himself away from the wearying, warm stove. Stretching his stiff limbs, the knight hoped to use exercise to dispel his sleepiness: if he hadn't waited for the mad dog to return, he probably wouldn't have slept soundly.

Approaching the bedroom of the two Ayas, the knight leaned close to the door, listening carefully to the sound inside. Although he didn't hear a sound, the knight opened a crack in the door and peeked in: to his relief, the two Aiya were hugging each other tightly and sleeping soundly on their pillows.

It's good to fall asleep...... The knight, who slowly closed the door for fear of being awakened by a sound, walked away slowly and stood against the closet.

These two kids have to wait with me for the mad dog to come back...... Sighing, Anusen looked into the bedroom: but seeing that Lusa was sleepy like that, she said nothing, and insisted that they go to sleep first. But Lucina was so troubled that she had to pester herself to tell her bedtime stories.

But how can I tell the kind of stories that children love to hear? With a wry smile, the knight pinched the talisman around his neck: Fortunately, Lusa had brought the book of Glacier Tales with her. It took a full forty minutes to coax Lucina too.

Just now, these two little girls were arguing and not sleeping, and they were really tired...... Recalling Aya's lovely sleeping faces, the knight sighed and felt a sadness: judging from what happened to the mad dog before, he definitely has a daughter. And before, she may have been clamoring not to sleep and to read the story by herself.

I don't know if it is out of sympathy and protection, or out of the desire for a daughter, the Aiya sisters are extremely important in the hearts of knights, just like daughters - since their past is blurred, cherishing the relatives in the present is the most important thing, there is no need to worry about the possible existence of the daughter all day.

Shaking off the headaches, the knight sat back down and picked up the book again. Just as he was drowsy from reading boring grammar again, a crisp knock came from the window.

Suddenly awakened from his sleepiness, the knight knocked on the door of his head and looked at the window: there was nothing there?

Thinking that he was hallucinating due to being too sleepy, Anusen shook his head and picked up his coffee cup. Just as he was about to take a sip, the knock came again, almost startling him to smash his glass: this time he heard it right, it was someone knocking on the window.

Puzzled, he got up, and the knight walked briskly to the window. Right in front of him, there was another knock from the window: so close that he could hear the knuckles tapping against the glass so clearly.

Suddenly realizing that it might be an invisible mad dog, the knight let his guard down and hurriedly pulled towards the window. However, to his surprise, the edge of the pulley of the window seemed to be frozen, and it could not be pulled open for a while.

It took some effort for the knight to open the window. The cold wind and snowflakes instantly poured into the room, blowing the knight's heart cold. There was a heavy stamping sound on the floor, and the mad dog suddenly appeared, constantly breathing at his hands.

"Damn, I almost froze to death, uncle!" Tearing off the snow-stained trench coat, Ceresya shivered: "It's fast to climb the wall, but I can't open the window." ”

"It's freezing......" Closing the window, the knight sighed and looked at the mad dog cowering by the fire, "Why don't you call me? ”

"It's so windy outside, and if I want you to hear through the window, I'll have to shout so loudly that the whole watchtower sentinels have to hear. With a snort, the mad dog kept snorting into his palms and pressed it on his face to keep warm: "But the knocking sound is different." It doesn't take much effort for me to make you notice. ”

"Then you can lift the invisibility?" the knight looked helpless: "You yourself said that the window of the living room will not be monitored by the sentry." ”

"That's not what I said. With a snort, Mad Dog narrowed his eyes, "I'm just saying that they don't usually notice here." So, knight—why didn't you sleep?"

"Your thinking is too jumpy...... right" poured a cup of coffee for Mad Dog, and the knight snatched the trench coat and dried it for Mad Dog: "You actually asked me why I didn't sleep, not to wait for you?"

"Yo, that's an honor. Grinning, Seresya snorted, "Are those two Aiya asleep?"

"Hmm. The knight nodded, and looked at the bedroom with a wry smile: "I finally fell asleep." ”

"Cut, then forget it first. Anyway, it's half past four, and it's not a few hours before dawn. Untied the flask at his waist, Mad Dog slapped it on the table with an unhappy face: "Knight, did you instigate Lucina to pour boiled water?!"

"Huh? No. Stunned for a moment, the knight sat down opposite the mad dog: "Forget it, don't talk about this - what did you find in this sneak?"

"Found something I wanted to see. After a moment of silence, Mad Dog spoke again: "The warehouse I went to was the one near the hotel. Its basement was full of corpses frozen in black ice. I roughly counted them, and almost all the sentinels were there. ”

"It's really the same as we envisioned. The thing he had been worried about was finally verified, and the knight frowned: "If you think so, the Ice Dragon Valley outpost is ......"

"There is no doubt that they are all replicas. Cocking his legs, Mad Dog lowered his voice: "I just don't know if those scouts sent by Eddes can find the existence of the clones." ”

"The ones that could be sent back are the clones. Pinching the talisman, the knight felt a wave of anxiety and couldn't wait to purify them: "Anyway, I must use the Holy Flame to destroy these corpses." ”

"Oh, I knew you wanted to do that. Handing the sword to the knight, Mad Dog smiled approvingly, "Take this to be invisible, Templar Knight...... I quietly stabbed the back door and the basement lock, and now it's closed, but it can't stop you. ”

"Understood. Taking the weapon, the determined knight clutched his talisman and walked briskly to the window.

"Oh yes, there's one more thing. As soon as he opened the window, the voice of the mad dog sounded from behind him: "When your holy fire is burned in a while, all the clones here should be gone." The only people who might be left should be a few people in the hunter's hut. Have you thought about what to do with it? If you go too late, you probably will have the body removed. ”

"I rode there and didn't give them time to react. Dropping this, the knight looked out the window and climbed up to the windowsill: "It is the task of the Templar to purify the filth. ”
