Section D, Chapter 16: The Clash of Tasks (Lusa)
"Yo, listen to the footsteps, it's our Mr. Knight who has returned. Covering the half-bitten cake with a paper towel, the mad dog narrowed his eyes and smiled evilly: "I'm going to trick him into eating a cake later, don't stop you." β
"Okay?" Lutha looked at the basket uneasily: there were still a lot of meat floss cakes lying inside. Even though she had expected it to be unpalatable, she was frustrated: the mad dog had just swallowed like she had eaten poison, and it hit her too hard.
The footsteps stopped abruptly as they got extremely close. Instead, there was a soft, rhythmic knock on the door.
"Come in, knight. Seresa stretched her waist and raised her voice, "You've been late for a long time!"
"Mad Dog, I really didn't expect you to wake up. Pushing open the door, the knight's expression was slightly surprised: "Lusha is there too...... Looks like you've been awake for a while?"
"No, no, it's just ten minutes. Mad Dog waved his hand: "Hey...... If it weren't for the smell of the cake, I'm afraid I would have dizzy and missed lunch. β
"Cake?" The tired knight looked at the basket and his expression relaxed: "Oh, the meat floss cake...... When I met you in the hallway before, it was as if I heard you say that I was going to make a cake for the mad dog. β
"Hmm. Lusha nodded, a little embarrassed: it always felt that it was not good to help Mad Dog trick him.
"How's that, knight? Mad Dog shook the basket in his hand: "You can smell it, right? β
"Forget it. The knight shook his head: "You can keep it for food, I have something ......"
"Tell me when you're done, knight. Mad Dog grabbed a piece of cake: "Luza's cake full of love, you really don't want to taste it? β
"I really don't like meat floss cakes......" the knight hurriedly refused.
"You just take a bite and you won't die" Mad Dog narrowed his eyes and smirked, "Lusha wants him to taste it too, right?"
"Huh, the ......" Lusha was a little flustered, "It's okay if you don't eatβ"
"You see, this kid wants you to taste it too. Can't you bear to refuse her, knight?" the mad dog immediately covered Lusa's mouth and asked in a tone full of grief and indignation.
"It's okay if she didn't eat at all, right?" the knight glared at him and approached the two, "Forget it, I'll try it." β
"The taste guarantees you will never forget it. Ceresya immediately gave him a piece of cake: "Come on, come on." β
Taking the cake, the knight looked at it for a moment. Then he took a small bite. The moment he started chewing, his expression froze.
"How's it taste, isn't it?" asked the mad dog teasingly.
"Uh...... yes, yes. The knight squeezed out a smile: "Well, this one tastes very ...... It's special. β
"This is the love cake that Lusa has worked so hard to make, how much will it hurt her heart if she doesn't finish it?" Mad Dog narrowed his eyes and began to fan the flames: "Do you mean that Lusa's cake is not delicious?"
"No, no, no. It was delicious. The knight's smiling face became more and more miserable, and he looked at the cake sadly: "But I am not very hungry now, or I will eat it later......"
"Knight, don't eat it. Lusa sadly snatched the cake: "Mad Dog has tasted it, and I know that the meat floss is terrible." β
"Huh?" the knight was stunned for a moment, then angrily asked, "Mad dog, have you tasted it and let me eat it?"
"Don't be angry, knight. I just want to see how you react. Mad Dog laughed proudly: "He is worthy of being a gentle and considerate Templar Knight, and he is afraid of breaking the girl's heart, so he won't say that it is unpalatable to death." β
"Seeing that you have been encouraging me to eat, I should know that I am not at ease. The knight looked at the cake with a bite of indignation: "Mad Dog, you haven't finished that cake before, have you?"
"Okay, tell me not to waste food?" Mad Dog uncovered the tissue on the bedside table, revealing the cake: "Here--how can I throw the cake that Lusha baked? β
"Alright, let's get down to business. The knight put down the cake and wiped his hands: "I just talked to the lord about a lot of things......
"Wait, don't talk about such a boring topic yet. Mad Dog removed the basket and quilt: "How did you escape with honor last night? β
"Ah, these. Anusen looked at the torn cotton clothes: "The bushes and rocks are scraped. β
"That sounds boring. Forget it. The mad dog smacked in his mouth: "Where is Lao Tzu's wine jug?"
"Hey...... How can I have time to buy this for you?" the knight sighed helplessly: "I begged it back overnight, but I was so tired. β
"I understand what you're saying. But what about my flask?"
"I said I didn't have time to buy it for you. The knight waved his hand impatiently: "Don't pretend you don't understand. β
"Then since you're so tired, let's go and rest first. Mad Dog narrowed his eyes: "But you're so dirty, it's better to take a bath first." Let's go to a hot spring - it's definitely good. β
"We'll talk about that later. The knight's expression became serious: "I just talked to the lord about the possible occupation of the outpost by clones, and now there are some important things that must be explained...... Lusa, can your sister hear me?"
"I can't hear it. Lusha shook her head regretfully, "In order to restore her body as soon as possible, she needs to be asleep all the time. Even then, it would take as little as five days to recover. β
"It's going to take so long. The knight shook his head helplessly: "It's a pity...... Then you won't be able to listen to her advice. β
"Isn't that nice? There were exactly three people voting by show of hands. Mad Dog coughed dryly, "I'm guessing what your so-called important situation isβdefinitely like I said before? They want us to go to the outpost to investigate and see if the speculation is true." β
"Well, that's right. The knight sighed, "Since a few days ago, Neverwinter has ordered those three outposts to send letter crows every day to report on whether they are safe. β
"Then don't think about it. If the clones do take over there, they will definitely send letters every day. The mad dog twisted his neck and clicked: "The enemy is not stupid, we have already learned it." β
"That's true. Anusen straightened his waist slightly: "So, the safest way is to send someone to investigate it yourself." β
"So you're going to send us again?" Cereya raised her voice, her tone extremely dissatisfied: "Going to the eastern outpost almost tossed us to death, isn't it enough? Is he afraid of black ice or something?! If there are really clones there, there is no possibility that black ice will spread there waiting to be revealed! Anyway, Lao Tzu does not agree to go. β
"We only need to investigate one outpost. The knight's tone was a little unconfident: "I think I should do them a favor......"
"It should be his uncle!" Mad Dog stood up and glared at the knight, "We owe them it? Do you have to be so active?
"Don't make any noise!" Lusha stopped the two of them uneasily, "Quiet down......"
"Yo, that's right. Grabbing the knight's collar, Mad Dog narrowed his eyes: "We have opposite opinions, so you can decide." To go, or not to go?"
