Chapter 5: Anna

Anna, August Anna, attended high school in FranksΓΈ, the town closest to Chauschen, and attended boarding school. She would come back once a week, save the money from her part-time job in the piggy bank at home, and give a small amount to Ron for living expenses, and cook a wonderful dinner for Ron on the weekend.

In a month's time, she would face her entrance exams, and the school she most wanted to go to was Victoria University in Branslin, because it had the best art majors and the professors she admired the most.

She is fully capable of being admitted to this university, but the tuition fee is a very troublesome thing for her. It's not that she hasn't saved enough for tuition, but she's just worried that after she uses all the family's savings for her tuition, her brother who can't make it will starve to death.

Zhao Zhi, or now we can call him Ron.

He pushed open the old door, entered the bedroom, hid the three stones that might have been talismans and the two books in the bedside table, and then slowly walked to the old sofa in the living room and sat down.

When the wall clock rang on the hour, there happened to be a crisp sound of footsteps outside.

"I bought a little medicine from Dr. Wilson and applied it myself, and this is your punishment. ”

Pushing open the door, Anna bent against the frame of the door and took off her shoes, then took out a pack of plasters from the bag she was carrying and tossed it to Ron.

Ron picked up the packet of plaster, looked at the faintly musty smell of the package on it, and couldn't help but say, "Wilson, that black-hearted doctor, Anna, how dare you buy medicine in his broken hospital?"

Anna glanced at him lightly, "You don't think you're going to be punished for applying medicine, do you?" come on, you're seventeen years old, and you're no longer a child who needs to be cared for." ”

Finally, Anna put the big bag in her hand on the coffee table, and then stared at Ron with her hands on her chest, "Now you can explain." Explain why you're in Frankser, and are you fooling around with Frankser again?"

Ron remembers that he had done exactly that the night before he had met the old man.

"Of course not," Ron replied, "I've cut ties with them altogether." ”

Anna leaned down and pressed her hands on the coffee table, becoming more and more aggressive, "Then why did you end up in Frankse? and stupidly almost died there." ”

Ron hesitated for a moment, "I was just trying to get a job, and it was an accident! As the officer said, I was just a victim in it." ”

"Really, Ron?" Anna narrowed her eyes slightly, "I heard a little police officer say that you met that old madman in Frankser's tavern." And are you going to tell me now, are you going to get a job as a thug in a tavern or are you going to borrow a drink to kill your worries because you can't find a job?"

Ron was dumbfounded.

"You don't listen to me, Ron!Grown!" Anna snorted, then brought a piece of beef and some potatoes out of the bag, and began to work in the kitchen, "I told you when I was a kid that it was good for you to go to school at Forence Church, but you didn't, you preferred to fool around behind the two damned gamblers of Wolf and Fox, or listen to old John tell those unprovoked ghost stories." Did you become a casino master, or did you become a valiant warrior?"

Anna came out of the kitchen, she went into her room to change her clothes, and then put on her apron, "Oh, I forgot, old John was beaten every day in the tavern, because he always ate and drank. And those two gamblers haven't paid us back a penny until now. You lent it out!"

There was a sound of a fire in the kitchen, followed by the sizzle of oil being heated, and the smell soon spread to the living room.

Ron smelled that Anna was pouring half a bottle of olive oil that she had been reluctant to use, which she had won during her previous time working in a store.

"But it's okay, I don't mind any of that, I tell myself you're just playful. Anna's voice came from the kitchen, "But what? I warned you some time ago not to deal with those Frankser thugs, they will only try to get money out of your pocket, and will not give you the slightest benefit." But you did it anyway, and it even caused you to die in the near future. And when you were in danger, what kind of help did your good brothers give you? No!"

Ron was ashamed of the previous Ron.

"And now, I'm telling you, you should honestly get a job, a decent job. Are you sure you still won't listen to me?"

"Okay, Anna, I'm throwing in the towel. Ron smiled and shook his head, "I promise you, I'll go get a job." And, I think I should be very close to this job. ”

Anna's red hair came out of the kitchen along with her puzzled expression.

"Didn't the moon come in pairs today, or did Heavenly Father finally begin to favor me?" she asked, "You didn't even go against me today?"

Ron replied, seemingly casually, "I had a good conversation with Mr. Muse. The muse, you know, is the very gentlemanly police officer in the interrogation room. I think I'm 80% sure I'll get an apprenticeship with him. ”

"Police?" Anna's face sank slightly.

Ron didn't know where he had said the wrong thing, and he nodded, "Maybe, it should be about the same job." ”

"Do you think what I mean by 'decent work' is this kind of work with criminals?" Anna's voice raised a lot, "I will always remember when you were ten years old when you were scared to pee your pants by a little spider, and you now tell me that you want to be a police officer?" Or do you think those damned criminals are better than a spider?"

"But it's a rare opportunity, and I won't necessarily come face to face with the criminals, and I'm more likely to get a clerical job, like sorting out papers, or serving tea and water. ”

"Do you mean that criminals can tell the difference between clerical and doer?"

Ron frowned, "But I've already made up my mind. ”

"Your decision is never a big deal. ”

"You know, Anna. Ron smiled wryly, "I didn't learn anything since I was a child, and it was difficult for me to find a suitable job." And now there's a job in front of me, and I can't let it slip away. Can't I just try to share something for my family?"

Anna replied, "Of course you can, but you can find another job." ”

Ron smiled wryly, "You shouldn't have made decisions for me, I'm your brother." ”

"Yes, since I was a child, what did you decide for you that I didn't make for you? brother. Anna came out of the kitchen, pointed a spoon stained with sesame oil at Ron's nose, and said with a dangerous look in her eyes, "I need to remind you that if it weren't for the fact that you were closer to the exit at the time, I would have been my sister!"

Ron gestured to a drop of oil that was about to fall off the spoon.

Anna quickly stretched out her index finger to scrape the drop of oil off the spoon and put it in her mouth. Then she raised an eyebrow at Ron, and turned to walk towards the kitchen with a flirtatious and triumphant step.

"One more thing, Ron, you have to remember. Growing up, you will always make the wrong decisions, and I, always right. ”

............

Anna's craftsmanship is really good, and Ron eats deliciously.

Putting a piece of beef in his mouth, Ron suddenly said, "I remember that you are going to face the entrance exam soon, right?"

Anna hummed, acknowledging Ron's question, and then she added, "I need to go to Frankser tonight." I have left half a pot of potatoes and beef in the pot for your meal tomorrow. By the way, remember to turn off the gas when you're done cooking tomorrow. I'll be back again this Sunday. ”

"Of course I know, you don't have to tell me, I'm not a child anymore. Ron said helplessly.

"Really?" Anna looked at Ron with a smile on her face, "An adult wouldn't be tricked out of a tavern door by an old madman. ”

Her anger had almost disappeared.

"Annaβ€”"

"Okay! I'm not going to talk about it again. Finally, she added, "At least tonight." ”

Ron looked at the yellowing night behind the dim oil lamp, "It's so late now, if it's just for studying, you might as well put down the night first." ”

"Of course not for that," Anna forked a piece of potato, "in fact, I have taken a job as a governess tonight, and I have to be at the student's house at nine o'clock. Originally, I wouldn't be going back to Xiaoshen Town today, you know what I'm talking about, right?"

Of course Ron knows.

Today is Tuesday, and if it weren't for the fact that he was going to be brought back to Xiao Shen from the bureau, Anna would have been in school by now.

"I'm sorry, Anna. ”

"No, you don't have to say that. Anna interrupted Ron, "You're my brother, it's not my responsibility to bring you home from the police station in one piece, you understand? ”

Ron was silent for a moment, subconsciously taking a bite of beef, and then he glanced at the wall clock, "It's seven o'clock now, you don't plan to walk over with your feet, do you?"

Anna put a piece of potato in her mouth again, "Father Andrew will go to Frankser tonight, and I will go in his carriage." It took me about an hour to get there, and thirty minutes was enough time for me to get to where I was working. ”

"So you're going to leave now?"

Anna gave him a blank look, "If it weren't for the fact that I was spending more time with my idiot brother, I would have been on my way a long time ago." My poor gray-haired Father Andrew is still waiting for me in the cold wind!"

Anna put down her knife and fork, "If you are willing to be considerate of your dear sister, then please finish it quickly, so that I can clean the dishes as soon as possible." ”

Ron hurriedly picked up his handkerchief and wiped his mouth, "I'll clean up these dishes myself." ”

Anna raised an eyebrow, and she teased, "It's the sweetest thing I've ever heard in my life, brother." ”

"Don't laugh at me like that, Anna. You and I both know that this little thing is nothing to me. Ron smiled wryly and shook his head, "I'll take you to Father Andrew." ”

"Forget it, Wilson's black-hearted doctor said it was best for the injured not to run around, especially on a dark night like this. Even though I knew he was wrong nine out of ten, I had to guard against it. ”

Seeing that Ron was about to say something, she stretched out her finger and pointed at Ron's nose and said, "Listen to me." ”

"Okay. ”

Ron didn't have much more to say.

At this time, Anna packed her things, she walked to the door and turned to look at Ron and said seriously: "I know I can't persuade you, you will still be a stinky strip that is called around." Not only that, but I know you're not very smart. Brother, you haven't been very smart since you were a child, but you must learn to be smart in the future. Don't get carried away by the rhetoric of those old guys, they're all a bunch of big talkers who are not much different from Sean. You must hide in case of danger, you are my brother, not anyone else's. ”

"I see," Ron replied, "Also, my job is a police officer, and you can tell someone that your brother is a police officer." ”

"Do you think I'll care about the difference?"

Ron laughed, "I just thought that introducing your brother to other people like this would satisfy your little vanity." ”

"I never mind what kind of person you are, Ron. Anna looked at Ron very earnestly, then she turned and smiled, and walked out the door briskly, crimson swept into the moonlight.

"But it's a good feeling. She said.
