Section E, Chapter 19: Garrison Order (Lusha)
1:20 p.m. the next day.
Holding the dumplings, Lusa stared blankly at the gloomy snow scene outside the window. The only glimmer of sunlight was obscured by dark clouds, and the snow was swept away by the strong winds and flew in all directions. The snow and fog were so thick that the watchtowers dozens of paces away were swallowed up by it, hidden under hoarfrost.
It's windy today...... Listening to the sound of the window fluttering slightly in the wind, Lusha felt extremely lost, and the back of her unbloomed wings seemed to itch - it seemed that she couldn't go out on a flight with her sister today.
"There's a reply from Neverwinter. Kicking open the door, Seresa strode into the living room: "It was just delivered by the letter crow." I've already seen it with those people, so I'm sending you. β
"Oh oh! Busy playing Eurasian chess with the knight, my sister sitting on the sofa was very excited: "Hey, hey...... With three more hands, I'll kill you! Be enlightened, knight!"
"Okay, okay, I'll play with you later. Obviously more interested in replying to the letter, Anusen put down the black chess piece he had raised and looked up at Mad Dog: "Where's the envelope?"
"Give!" Seeing that the envelope was thrown by him, Lusa hurriedly caught it and held it in her hand at a loss. Minia seemed intrigued, so she took a bite of it and screamed happily.
"Holy, spit it out to Lao Tzu!" yelled viciously, and the mad dog rushed straight at the pink creature. Trembling with fright, Minia hurriedly buried herself in Lusa's arms, closed her eyes and screamed in fear.
"Hey, you scared her, do you know?!" gasped in dissatisfaction, and his sister jumped off the couch with the same angry expression he did. However, unlike Mad Dog, Lucina's posture did not seem intimidating. After a few loud arguments with him, she tried with all her might to push the mad dog away, but to no avail, she took a detour and approached Lusa angrily.
"Minia, give it to me. Her tone softened immediately, and Lucina clapped her hands lightly and stretched out her arms. Tuanzi timidly looked at the mad dog, then jumped into the arms of his master and opened his mouth. Taking out the envelope, Aya pinched the dough with a loving expression, and sat back on the couch with her.
"Look at the few times you pushed me just now, I really laughed at Uncle Ben. Snorting proudly, Cereya picked up the flask and glanced at Lucina: "Like other Aya, her strength is so small that she wants to do it with me all the time?" β
"Huh, you look down on Aya?" Lucina also picked up the flask, and Lucina glared at the mad dog indignantly, "I can't use spells now, orβ"
"Alright, have you two quarreled enough? you two will fight when we meet all day long, and you can't each give a step?" Before Lucina could finish speaking, the knight's slightly helpless words reached everyone's ears. After muttering a few words to each, both of them gradually quieted down. Glancing at the knight with some embarrassment, Lucina carefully picked up the envelope and pulled out the letter like a child who had been trained by her parents. Curiously approaching her sister, Lusha silently read the brief instructions on the letter in her heart: it probably meant that the city lord ordered the outpost to be kept. He had already sent a hundred soldiers to support, and he would arrive in about a day. Until then, I hope a few of us will stay here to protect the outpost.
"What are you doing...... Mace doesn't want to give up this outpost yet?" After looking at it for a while, Lucina put down the envelope and put on an incomprehensible expression: "This kind of thing has happened here, and he even wants to send someone to garrison it." If that Black Ice Mage does it again, won't those people have to stay here again?"
"I don't think the Lord of Mace has a problem. After a moment of silence, Anusen said slowly: "The geographical location of this outpost is very important, and we must risk setting up troops to garrison it no matter what. As for the Black Ice Mage, I always felt that he wouldn't come back - he didn't seem willing to do the same trick again in the way he had behaved before. β
"How boring are you two? Anyway, it's all Mace's consideration, and it's not our turn to worry about outsiders. Turning his head to look at the knight who was reading the letter, the mad dog coughed disdainfully, and poured a big sip of wine again: "Don't think about these things, the four of us just need to save ourselves and their lives, and then go back to the city to receive the reward and continue to investigate the ruins." In the final analysis, we and Metz are mutually non-interfering interests. β
"Can you stop using such a cold-blooded assassin mentality?" Anusen put down the letter and stared at Mad Dog with a frown, "We're not outsiders. β
"No one cares what you want to think, but what I'm saying is the truth of reason. An outsider is always an outsider. Coldly shaking off this sentence, Mad Dog suddenly deflected his words, and his words softened: "Forget it, let's not talk about controversial topics - we are going back to Eternal Winter City soon, we have to confirm the general course of action, right? After all, even if we find a way to enter the underground ruins, in order to prevent the enemy from taking advantage of this, we can't go down." β
"So...... We really don't have any clear goals to do. I don't know how many memories were erased by the hooded man, and I can't even remember why I set out with you on a journey to the Frozen Lands. His expression was also a little confused, and the Templar was silent for a moment before he said slowly: "Anyway, we have asked Edders to find the visa officer before, and it is estimated that we will be able to find him in Cold Snow Castle when we return to the city." β
"The visa officer may be in the same league as the hood man, so you'll have to ask when the time comes. With an extremely sinister smile in an instant, Mad Dog coughed and put down the flask, "How long have we been here?" He's absolutely playing tricks on us, and we can't trust him at all - this guy knows how to do inexplicable things from the beginning to now. He was embarrassed to call himself a 'guide'. It's really a shame. β
"The deceased and the guide may not be the same person, but by the way they act, they certainly belong to the same organization. Unable to help himself with a sister who was tugging at his sleeve, the knight began to play chess with her again with a helpless expression: "There may be many of them, because the envelopes sent to us and Lusa are different from the fire coat of arms. They are the Lock of Amrea and the Spiral Tower. β
"It's fine if you think so, but there's definitely a split within the organization. Do you think that when Lusa received the first letter, wasn't the seal of the letter obviously opened and resealed?" Watching the game with interest, Mad Dog continued after a moment, "Possibly, the emblem on the fire coat of arms should have been a spiral tower, not a curse of loneliness. The person who sent the letter didn't drop the contents of the package, but secretly changed camps, but he didn't do it too pretty. β
