Chapter 28: The Mysterious Talisman (Part II)
A necklace made of human bones hangs from the walls around the chamber. In a simple closet carved out of the stone wall, large and small utensils and bottles and jars are placed. It contained an unidentified liquid that appeared to be used for poison experiments. The Cold Demon crawled out of the sarcophagus in the center of the chamber, with four hideous-looking skulls stuck in each of the four corners of the sarcophagus. The ground is carved with a huge circular magic circle.
Aran and Miraya searched the entire chamber thoroughly, but found nothing of value.
"It seems that nothing has been found!" Aran hung his head in discouragement.
"I think the appearance of the Cold Demon is probably just a coincidence. Master Alan, let's go back quickly. If Your Majesty found out that you were missing, I don't know what would happen in a hurry. "Miraya played the family card just right.
After Miraya's repeated persuasion, Aran finally gave up the idea of finding evidence. Maybe the High Priest just happened to pick up a cold demon that had been frozen in ice, and then hid it in his cave as an object of study. Aran also began to wonder if he was really thinking too much.
"Okay, let's go!" said Alan, who had decided to leave, with a disappointed expression on his face. As the two of them got up to leave, Aram accidentally touched a skull stuck in a spear. The skull, which should have rolled to the ground, only slightly deflected. This tiny detail immediately caught Alan's attention.
"Wait, Miraya!" Aran tried to grab the strange skull, but there seemed to be a force holding it firmly in place. Aran tried to turn counterclockwise, and his skull immediately creaked, like the sound of a mechanism activating.
Immediately afterwards, the bottom layer of the sarcophagus separated from the left and right sides, revealing a dark pavilion. An oval object inlaid with gold trim appeared in front of the two of them.
"What is this!" said Aram's eyes, as pleased as a tomb robber who saw a treasure.
"It looks like a talisman. Miraya carefully removed the mysterious object from the Dark Chamber. The palm-sized amulet has a heavy feeling in the hand, and although it blooms with the same brilliance as gold, it is obviously fundamentally different from cheesy metals such as gold.
"There's writing on it. Miraya narrowed her eyes, carefully scerifying what was engraved on the amulet. It's a pity that Miraya doesn't recognize a word of the tadpole-like handwriting.
"Let me see. Aram couldn't wait to snatch the amulet from Miraya's hand. But the moment his finger touched the amulet, a dazzling golden light shot out from the amulet. The intense light swelled suddenly, covering the entire chamber at once.
Then the light faded quickly, and just before the golden light was completely extinguished, a majestic model of the temple made of light and shadow appeared before the eyes of Alain and Miraya.
"What is this......" A bewildered Aran was stunned by the phantom that suddenly appeared in front of him.
However, the illusion of the temple paused for only a second before disappearing completely. Everything is back to its original appearance.
"Did you see that too? Miraya. Aran rubbed his eyes, the scene just now was as fantastic as a dream.
The silver-haired girl with her eyebrows tightly knit nodded slightly.
"I always felt like I had seen that temple there. But I can't remember. Aram tugged at his hair and muttered to himself.
"It's a pity, if only I could read the words written on it. ”
Aran smiled helplessly at Miraya. Although he had received a very strict aristocratic education, he turned out to be the same as Miraya, who had not studied for a few days, and did not understand the meaning of these symbols at all.
"Young Master Alan, haven't you noticed that the design style of this talisman is completely out of tune with the Evil Bone Tribe. I don't think the original owner of this item was the high priest himself. ”
Miraya's conjecture is well-founded. Beyond the Great Wall is an unexplored wilderness. Whether it is a barbaric walled city or an evil bone tribe, its civilization level only stays in the relatively primitive Stone Age. The crude and rudimentary weaponry they possessed showed how backward the two races were in the craft industry. Wanting to make such a beautiful amulet is an almost impossible task.
"Well, judging from the craftsmanship alone, it really doesn't look like it came from the hands of barbarians. Aram carefully examined the oval-shaped amulet. Located in the center of the amulet is a strange pattern in the shape of a swirl, and from these ancient words, a powerful wave of magic emanation.
From the moment he got this amulet, Aran felt a sense of peace that he had never felt before. The evil aura that permeated the cave had also dissipated a lot more than before.
"There's got to be some mystery to this thing. Otherwise, the old fox of the High Priest would not have hid it so carefully. ”
Aram took the mysterious amulet into his bosom. Since you can't crack the secret on the talisman for a while, it's better to take it back and study it slowly.
When Alain and Miraya finally came out of the cave of bones without returning empty-handed, it was already dark. A small group of barbarians was hurrying in the direction where the two men were. It was not the mortally wounded high priest who was being taught, but the male wizard and his living sacrifice waiting at the entrance of the cave. The barbarian didn't know at this moment that the Great Array of White Bones had been destroyed by the two of them, and the high priest was like a candle in the wind, worrying about his life at any time.
"Miraya, come and hug my waist. Aram stood on the edge of the cliff and said to the maid beside him.
"Young Master Aran, what are you going to do?" Miraya hugged Aran tightly from behind, although she was a little nervous.
"Hold on, we're going to cut corners. Aran held the Wind God Blade in his hand, and a rapidly spinning air flow rose from the soles of their feet. Aram held his breath and leaped before the barbarians. With the help of the wind elemental, Aran and Miraya were like two fluttering feathers, slowly falling under the cliff hundreds of meters away.
