Chapter 3: Harper
Isabella recognized the boy who had been beaten, Gregory Leslie, the youngest son of Titus. The humble boy resembled his father and brother, and he was so artistically so intimate, that even though he was sent by Tiger to train under the Gallup Knights, he would seem out of place with his companions.
As for Edward, I don't know if he was trying to please his father, or if he was by nature, this lawless boy seemed to be particularly fond of bullying Gregory, and would come to him every now and then. And poor Gregory had to be by the young master's side all day, for it was his duty as a knight-in-acumber.
Watching Edward's gang take pleasure in bullying Gregory, Isabella felt that the guy her age was even more disgusting. She thought she should do something now, at least punish Edward's nasty face.
Isabella pushed open the window, picked up the pot from the window, and smashed it at Edward.
But her strength was too small, and Edward's men were so far away from Isabella's room that the pot only fell rapidly in the air for a moment, and then fell to the ground, breaking into countless pieces.
But at least the sound of the pots falling was enough for Edward and the others to stop beating Gregory.
"Stinky girl, you almost stoned me!" Edward, who still had freckles on his nose, shouted angrily to Isabella, "When my father comes back, I will tell him that you hit me with a flower pot!"
"Hmphβ" Isabella wrinkled her nose disdainfully, she wasn't afraid of Edward's threat.
"Coward! You will only bully more people and fewer people, and you can't beat others yourself!"
"Do you sympathize with this piece of wood?" shouted Edward, pointing to the embarrassed Gregory who was pinned to the ground, "Do you like him?
Isabella's brow furrowed tightly, she didn't just hate this Edward now.
"Guys who bully others will only do bad things, and all that comes out of their mouths is lies!"
"Haha, she's shy!" Edward laughed loudly at Isabella, and his companions laughed along, even Albert, who was only four years old and had a snot in his mouth.
"This bastardβ" Isabella clenched her fists, now she wanted to run down and fight Edward.
However, before she could restrain her anger, the mage tower on the other side moved.
The door, which had been closed for many years, was suddenly opened, and Meredith, the court mage, stepped out of it.
Except for Edward and Albert, the other boys couldn't help but take a step back when they saw the old mage who dragged the whitebeard on his belly, although Duke Tegman didn't pay much attention to magic, but mages were still very mysterious and dangerous in the minds of ordinary people, especially the court mage Meredith.
Of course, Edward was not very afraid of Meredith, and with the protection of Tegman, he was convinced that no one in Lionheart would dare to harm him.
That's why he dared to bully Titus' youngest son unscrupulously, in his eyes, everyone else was just licking the soles of his father's shoes, and no one could dare to be rude to him.
Perhaps Edward was born with a tyrannical element, and even for an eight-year-old child, his thoughts were very dangerous.
Meredith glanced at Edward, who was standing in front of him, and then then at Gregory, who had fallen to the ground.
"Come here, I'll put some medicine on you. β
Gregory looked at Meredith hesitantly, and he tried to stand up with his hands on the ground, but Edward immediately let his henchmen knock him down again.
"You don't want me to drugged him?" Meredith asked, staring at Edward.
In front of Meredith, who was several times his age, maybe even more than a dozen times, Edward didn't feel scared at all, he held his head high, pouted, and looked down on Meredith.
"Magic doesn't work, you don't need to apply medicine to him, just let him endure it himself. β
Meredith didn't have to think about it to know that an eight-year-old couldn't know anything about magic, so he must have learned it from Tagman.
"You don't think magic is useful?"
"If it works, show me what it does!" Edward replied unceremoniously, perhaps thinking that Meredith's flat tone was offending him.
Meredith narrowed his eyes and stared at Edward, but he didn't move.
Seeing that the old mage did not react, Edward felt that the other party was afraid, so he snorted contemptuously.
"Useless old rubbish. β
"Ha, ha, useless old rubbish, useless old rubbish!"
Albert, who was dragging his snot on the side, also coaxed.
"Boom"
A bolt of lightning struck Edward's feet suddenly, and for an eight-year-old boy, no matter how bold he was, the lightning and thunder were enough to frighten him.
Not to mention the thunder and lightning that hit the feet.
Edward was so frightened that he sat down and peed his pants, and the other boys were not much better, and several of the younger ones even cried on the spot.
Meredith looked up thoughtfully at the main fort inside the city walls.
By a window on the fifth floor, Serena's figure loomed.
Turning the pages of the book, the beautiful yet mysterious Duchess opened her lips.
"Magic is not to be insulted, especially by the dregs. β

When Arnold left Brookwood, he also sent the counts back to the realm with their armies, and he blocked the news for a day, during which time he had sent messengers to Fort Gloomy and Titus to Fort Hotu with three thousand men.
And when Arnold walked to the city of Falcon with his army, Harper also happened to arrive in the city, waiting to see him.
When I saw Harper again, the old man who had been serious and arrogant was now more than ten years old, and the neatly combed gray was now gray, and his demeanor was so old that he couldn't even straighten his back. It wasn't until he saw Harper with his own eyes that Arnold understood why Fonner had made a point of mentioning him when he first saw him.
Arnold met Harper at the castle that belonged to Earl Freken, and when he met Arnold, Harper didn't say anything, just saluted the former lord in silence.
Arnold looked at Harper and did not speak, and Funner, who accompanied Harper in, also lowered his face and said nothing.
"You're a lot older. β
It was a long time before Arnold said this.
"It's not just that he's old," replied Harper, bowing his head and hunching his back, "and these old dim eyes can't see clearly, and they see the cliffs as the road, and the living as the dead." β
"Is that all you want to say?"
Harper was silent for a moment, then slowly knelt down on one knee, his movements were old, and his slightly trembling body had to squat down first, and then support the ground with his hands before he could kneel on one leg on the ground. It can be seen that Harper's aging is not only mental, but his body has also really suffered great trauma.
"I understand that the Davide family's betrayal of you cannot be easily forgiven, and I am willing to accept any punishment from you. Payne has died at your hands, and it's all my fault that he died. Lord Tegman has made me the Earl of Gloomy Castle, but these days I have not had the slightest joy in being an earl, and I have been in fear all day long, and I have not been able to sleep at night. From the day I was canonized, I thought that you would come to take revenge on us, and I was willing to make amends for my mistakes with my life, and I begged you for only one thing. β
"Keep the Davide house?" Arnold could roughly guess what Harper was going to say.
As Arnold expected, Harper nodded, then lowered his head and said, "Doug has nothing to do with this matter, he is loyal to you, it was me and Payne who betrayed you, please punish us and let Doug go." β
"That'......," Arnold replied slowly, looking at Harper, "I can guarantee it." β
"Thank you very much. Harper's hand on the ground trembled, then buried his head deeply.
"So, now that I've shown mercy to the Davide family, you should be able to accept my punishment, right?"
"Yes. Harper's voice was a little calmer, and it seemed that he was prepared.
"First, I have a question. Arnold looked at Fonnar, "Garcia, how's it going?"
Funner hesitated for a moment, glancing at Harper, who was kneeling on the ground, and then replied, "After the death of the Judson knight, his son inherited the Garcia family's estate. β
Then Fonner thought for a moment and added, "The Davide family didn't embarrass them. β
"That's right. Arnold clasped his hands together and pushed them into a tower shape in front of his abdomen, "Since Davide has preserved Garcia's reputation and territory, then I can also preserve your Davide family's territory." Let Doug inherit the titles of Axton and Baron, and Gloomy Castle will be handed over to Judson's son. β
That's a little bit of compensation for me.
Arnold thought silently in his mind.
Fonnard stared at Arnold for a moment, then lowered his head. "Got it, I'm going to work on it. β
Harper, who was kneeling on the ground, also breathed a sigh of relief.
"As for you, Harper Davide......" Arnold moved his gaze to the old man kneeling in front of him, "you must be enlightened, since you are willing to accept my summons to come here, then, I think you must also understand the price and self-blame you must pay for the betrayal, right?"
"Yes, Lord Duke. Harper replied calmly, "I only need my life to appease your anger, and I can't thank you enough." Thanks to your kindness, I dare to mention one more thing. β
"Say it. Arnold tilted his head, leaned back in his chair, and looked down at Harper. This angle is exactly the opposite of the original perspective on the battlefield by the lake of Yelena.
"Penn's son, who is only three years old this year, beg you to ......," Harper knelt down on his other leg and knocked his head to the ground, "and beg you to spare him too." β
Arnold didn't answer, just stared at Harper.
Receiving no reply from Arnold, Harper remained on his knees and kowtowed.
Fonner frowned and opened his lips, but he couldn't speak.
"You...... And a daughter, right? β
"Yes, I got married to another family two years ago. Harper's voice was a little nervous, as if he was afraid that Arnold would anger his daughter.
"Then leave Payne's son to be raised by your daughter. Arnold got up from his chair, looking impatient to continue talking to Harper.
"Yes, thank you very much. Harper finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"You alone bear the responsibility for the Davide family's crimes, so you will never be forgiven. I think you should have realized this a long time ago. β
Arnold gave Funner a look.
"Anyway, your wife used to be my nurse, and although she has been dead for so many years, this relationship ......" Arnold rubbed his seal, his eyes showing a little nostalgia, "so I am willing to spare you Davide, however, my kindness to Davide's family ends here." β
Fonna walked over with a sword nearly a man high, and his gaze swept over Harper, who was kneeling on the ground, with a slight sadness.
"I don't have any other extravagant hopes. Harper straightened up, his expression very calm, and there was a hint of relief, "When Master Tegman gave me this task, I hesitated for a while, but finally gave in to the desire for power. Of course, I am to blame for this fate, but it can be regarded as a good result. β
"Perhaps. Arnold said this, then took the sword Funner handed him and raised it high.
