Section B, Chapter 29: Broken Ice (Edus)
The bitter cold continued to spread, and Ed felt that his body was becoming stiff because of it, and the organs in his body seemed to be covered in frost, constantly frozen.
"Quick, get out of the door!" Quill, who was standing by the door, smashed open the freezer lock and slammed it out.
With a stiff step, Edus trembled towards the door. He tried to get his body out of the increasingly cold room faster, but he couldn't speed up his movements anyway. On the contrary, his pace is getting slower.
However, the closer you get to the exit, the closer you get to the wreckage of the dragon hunting arrow that exploded. The closer you get to it, the more intense the cold aura becomes—the cold that keeps coming from it, and it's drifting towards the window.
Finally, Edus walked out of the house as best he could. Collapsed to the ground, he suddenly realized that something was wrong.
He tried to speak, but his tongue and vocal cords seemed to freeze, unable to make a sound.
"Damn, what is that kid doing in Denor?!" Quire, a strong man who has always prided himself on not being afraid of the cold, also shivered.
Eddes tried to stand up, but his stiff body refused to listen. The frost-covered armor, which had already formed a thin layer of ice, absorbed the cold air and continuously transmitted an increasingly bitter cold to the body.
"That kid doesn't seem to be able to get up from the table at all!" Quill hung down the wall angrily, "!"
To Eddes' surprise, Quill made a surprising move: he dropped the axe in his hand and slammed into the door. However, as soon as he stepped into the cold air, Quell's strong body immediately slowed down.
The cold had already spread into the hallway, and Edus, who had collapsed by the door, tried with all his might to stay away from it. But Edus was horrified to find that his body could no longer move: he saw that his hands, which were exposed to his clothes, were slowly freezing.
As his consciousness grew more and more blurry, Eddes felt that he could no longer think about anything - he felt that his brain was infected with cold, and his mind was frozen in ice like his body.
The body became colder and heavier, and a strong feeling of sleepiness hit. Eders closed his frosty eyelids blankly.
At the moment when his eyes were closed, a tall man in heavy armor suddenly appeared from the cold air. The eyes under the heavy helmet glowed with a cold blue light.
Where did he come from? Eders' eyes widened in shock: he had emerged from the cold, but how was this possible?
A shudder suddenly broke out in my heart. Ides instinctively tried to draw the long sword at his waist. However, his nerves didn't seem to sense where his hand was—his right hand was completely frozen to the ground.
Just as Eders was in a state of panic and despair, he was pleasantly surprised to see Quill staggering out of the room, holding Dereno. Seeing the Corruptor by the door, Quill shook off Derno after a brief moment of consternation, drawing his great axe and slashing at his foe.
The Corruptor stood silently as if he hadn't noticed Quill, staring at Eddes with lifeless eyes. Just when Edus was overjoyed that Quill would be able to win with a single blow, the godless cold light of the Corruptor's eyes suddenly burned into a dark blue ice flame.
Quill's axe stopped in mid-air: in the blink of an eye, his whole body was frozen in a thick layer of ice. The frozen Quill still maintained the same movements as he had done for the first half of the second, not even closing his eyes.
The Corruptor slowly turned back to face Quell. He raised his left hand, and the palm of his hand burned like an ice flame like an eye.
As he clenched his left fist slightly, the ice that enveloped Quill suddenly exploded. However, as the exploding pieces jumped next to Edus, he realized in great horror that it wasn't just the ice that had exploded—Quell's body had also been shattered into countless pieces.
Originally, where Quill stood, all that was left was a pool of blood that was quickly frozen into blood clots by the cold air and ice, and broken ice mixed with corpse parts. Eders shuddered and tried to move. But the muscles were so stiff that they couldn't move, and most of the body was frozen by the ice.
As the Corruptor slowly turned again, his soul-scaring eyes no longer burned with ice.
Quil's tragic situation continued to hit Edus's heart. Despite his fear, he kept an eye on the Corruptor's movements: as a warrior, he wished he could at least look his enemies in the face before he died.
The Corruptor's eyes burned with ice again, and Eddes fought back his fear as he stared at his movements: dying like Quill wouldn't be too painful to die in an instant.
The enemy's steel gauntlet once again burned with a cold blue demonic flame. After an ethereal whisper, he held out his flaming left hand to Edus's head.
As the extremely powerful hand gripped the skull, a terrifying thought appeared to Edus: he was going to crush my skull.
Before Eders could think about it, he fell unconscious from the cold air in his palm.
In the moments before losing consciousness, Eders was in a trance and remembered Namedia: there are many places for Aya's soul to go after her death, and I wonder where she went.
..........................................
When I opened my eyes suddenly, a headache immediately attacked. Eders propped himself up in pain, clutching his vertigo forehead.
The ice that froze the body was gone...... Eders squeezed his still stiff hands slightly, stroking towards the armor. The frost was still attached to it, and the touch surprised Eddes to thought: I didn't seem to be killed, I didn't even faint for long.
Immediately reaching for his waist and stiff back, Eddes was relieved to find that the sword and shield were there. Only the helmet that fell in the room was not beside him.
Speaking of which, what is this place?, Eddes looked around in astonishment. It took his eyes a long time to adjust to the darkness, and he could vaguely see the smallness of the room.
Why didn't he kill me?, Eddes shuddered at the thought of Quell's corpse: maybe he killed Quill just because Quill attacked first?
Quill ...... Eders suddenly wanted to cry: You bastard...... He said that he would get married after the breath of winter passed, why did he die so early?
Damn, I'm going to kill him the next time I run into that guy...... The first thing that came to mind was to avenge Quill, and Eders gritted his teeth. However, after a momentary outburst of emotion, the captain's heart suddenly swelled with a sense of powerlessness: the guy was only wearing an extremely ordinary set of heavy armor, and he hadn't even seen his face. Even if you really encounter it, you definitely can't beat it.
Deerno didn't know what was going on...... Eddes suddenly remembered Derno, who had fainted after being rescued by Quill: he wasn't by his side, and that probably meant ......
Putting aside the bad thoughts, Eddes hurriedly shook his head and comforted himself: maybe he didn't kill the unconscious Derno either...... That way, maybe Deenor would be found and rescued by the soldiers he had arranged for him to patrol.
But when I think about it, could it be that I was brought here by the corruptor? Eddes was more and more surprised: how did he get into this room since he hadn't passed out for long?
Looking closely at the place where he had leaned against his back when he had just fallen unconscious, Edus stared at it as if choked: it was a large altar carved with incantations and patterns of unknown meaning.
