Interlude (3) Character Analysis: Demos (Exempt)
Ladies and gentlemen—
"The Demon King" has been written for 370,000 words so far, and in three more chapters, the third volume of this article is about to end with the encounter of the rivers and lakes, and Feng'er is about to move to the fourth volume of the twilight creation of the gods.
Here, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my friends who have accompanied me and encouraged me along the way in the past five months. Without you, there would be no Feng'er's "Demon Lord".
Originally, it was planned that the end of this article would be the end of the third volume, but now it seems that the storyline will have a certain amount of tension, and it seems too long to put it all in the three volumes.
Therefore, the fourth volume was temporarily added, which was named "Twilight of the Gods". (The allusion to the title of this volume is actually from Norse mythology)
Not long ago, a few friends in the circle who had read Feng'er's article chatted privately with Feng'er about the first and second male characters in the text, which can really be said to have their own love for radish pickles.
So, Feng'er responded to the call to launch a questionnaire survey to see who the male protagonist should be who everyone thinks can accompany the heroine for life.
We would like to ask you to vote. Your precious vote can not only bring you 5 points, but more importantly, let Feng'er have a basis to grasp the reader's preferences and write the most exciting and reasonable ending.
According to the results of the current vote, the dark god Demos is far ahead, followed by Jose, and the third place is the sun god priest Percius. The most pitiful thing is actually the mermaid prince Triton, who has done a lot of things for the heroine Carret, but he didn't get a single vote!) (This episode was written the day before, when Triton still had zero votes.) But today he finally got a vote, I don't know which kind audience voted for him, Feng'er thanked you on his behalf!:(,,ŏŏ,):)
Looking at these precious votes, Feng'er was glad that the setting of the male protagonist Demos was successful.
In Greek mythology, Demos is the son of Poseidon, the god of terror and doom.
In "The Demon Lord", he is set up as the god of darkness, the brother of Zeus and Poseidon. Su Ri wears a black suit or a black gown, and the fixed color of the costume represents the priesthood he presides.
In terms of character appearance and character building, he has the cold arrogance and noble temperament of the Titan God, and does not lose the black belly and handsome beauty of the domineering president of the human world.
One of the inspirations for Demos came from Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights.
Feng Er's first contact with this Western masterpiece was when she was in junior high school, when she bought a comic of the same name created by a Japanese manga artist in a bookstore, and the comic was very faithful to the original from beginning to end, except for the reduction, basically did not make much changes to the original book.
The male protagonist of the novel, Hitzcliff, is an orphan who is adopted by the wealthy Earnshaw family, the old owner of Wuthering Heights, and falls in love with the old daughter Catherine of the elder Earnshaw. After the death of Earnshaw Sr., Heathcliff was abused by Catherine's brother. In order to save her lover and get a better life for herself, Catherine resolutely chose to marry the heir of Thrushcross Heights. Betrayed by love, Heatscliff returns to Wuthering Heights after being betrayed by his love and fortune to take revenge on Catherine and her children......
When she was in college, she found the original English book of "Wuthering Heights" in the school library, and carefully read this masterpiece of love tragedy again.
I will always remember that sentence in the novel-
Icannotlivewithoutmylife! Icannotlivewithoutmysoul!
When Catherine died, Heatscliff banged his head against a tree and cried out in pain: "Katie, you are my heart, my life! Without my heart, I can't live! Without my soul, I can't live!"
It can be seen that while the male protagonist is crazy about revenge on the female protagonist, he also loves her deeply in his heart, and this tangled and painful feeling deeply touched Feng'er's heart at that time.
The second inspiration comes from the villain male protagonist Cezel Polkin in "Flower Crown Angel" by the famous Japanese manga master Chie Saito.
In the history of Europe, Cizer did have a man.
He was not only a famous Duke of Valentine during the Renaissance, but also a famous politician.
During the Renaissance, the famous political thinker Machiavelli wrote his masterpiece "The Monarch" based on Cizer, believing that only a monarch like him was the ideal monarch to unify Italy.
In the world of Chie Saito's manga, Cizer is a complete villain, his handsome appearance, and his cold and brutal heart bring readers a strong sense of shock and identity, and his love for the heroine is as fierce as poison and almost devastating, which also moves readers and sympathizes with his tragic ending.
In both of these works, it seems that both Hitzcliff and Cizer are outright extremes.
Feng Er does not recognize the ultra-left or ultra-right things in her creation, and the romance novels of her debut novel are afraid that things that are too extreme will not be favored by readers, or with her own shallow skills, she writes and writes that she can't hold back at all.
Therefore, in terms of the character of the dark god Demos, Feng'er portrayed him as half-righteous and half-evil.
Hitscliff in "Wuthering Heights" loved the heroine at first, and after being abandoned by the heroine, he turned his love into hatred for her, not only revenge on her, but also on her next generation.
In Feng'er's "The Demon Lord", Demos is the opposite.
In the text, he first took revenge on the heroine Carreta for the revenge of his previous life, set up a series of schemes to collect the memories of her lover Jose, and then separated her brother from the bad luck, in a vain attempt to force her into a lonely predicament and then take possession of her in one fell swoop.
However, Kareta never bowed to him in the ordeal after tribulation, but held her chest and gritted her teeth, and became stronger and stronger as she advanced.
Eventually, Demos falls for her charm and finds that he is actually hurting himself while taking revenge on her, and the reason for this is because he is truly in love with her.
For the analysis of the heroine's setting, in the future interlude, Feng'er will also elaborate.
Demos is the ruler of the Dark Clan, handsome but cold on the outside, fierce and lonely on the inside.
He is the god of darkness, living in a different dimension in the boundless darkness of the night, but he also longs for light.
He loved Karete, the embodiment of light and hope. Although he was also hesitant and painful in his heart for his fate of killing her, he never stopped fighting for her.
Initially, he himself thought that he was only approaching Athena to please her in order to lift the seal on her gem.
When he confirms that he is in love with her, his desperate attachment finally makes him decide to give up his revenge and give up the Athena Jewel!
As his inner monologue against the Sea Clan in the second volume of the text:
The god of darkness is destined to be deprived of light for the rest of his life, and those who want to follow the light of the sun will surely suffer from it. Carret, you are the bright light, the proud flame, close to me but never within reach. If I want to love you seriously, I have to pay the price, I have to get hurt-
Demos is in love with Carette, and at the beginning of this haughty expression, he prefers to threaten her by coercion.
Using Jose's memories as a bargaining chip, he forced her to be his temporary girlfriend to attend a friend's wedding, eat dinner with him, and force her to accept various gifts from him......
All the strong behaviors, which look domineering and hypocritical on the outside, are actually the emotional expressions that Demoste has, and it is he who conveys a strong and persistent feeling to Carette with his sincerity!
Demos is the Demon Lord of the Titans, with a handsome and seductive appearance, a bewitching black hair rejected by the gods, and a notorious rumor, but his inner world is not evil. Compared with those sanctimonious righteous gods, his character is much more straightforward and honest.
Kamidai, who was attracted by the youthful beauty of Karete, was driven out of the holy mountain by Zeus after an attempted violation. (Later in the text, he will describe the real reason for Zeus's expulsion of Demos) for the light girl, his expression is very direct. To like is to like, to want is to want-
After being reincarnated and meeting in the human world, Kareta lost in her first encounter with Demos. For Jose's sake, she was forced to stay alone in the dimension in exchange for Jose's life.
Later, in order to retrieve Jose's memory, she loses a bet with Demos and is once again forced to give her body.
On both occasions, Demos couldn't bear to do anything in the face of Karete's crying face.
In his opinion, if you want to vent, you can use the money in your hand to find all kinds of women, which is simple and convenient. And with Karete, what he wants to have is the expression of true love, the realm of true fusion of spirit and body.
Not only is Demos in love with Carette, but he loves to show his love for her in his own way.
A very popular sentence is vividly reflected in him, namely:
Love her, just be with her**!
So far, there have been conflicts between the two, once when Carette rejected his marriage proposal and ran away from home, and once when she was provoked by Cali to misunderstand him and leave angrily.
The way Demos resolved the conflict between him and Karete, and the way to punish her, was very simple, that is, to knock her down directly, never pretentious, and full of domineering to cut through the chaos with a quick knife.
Demos is arrogant.
He could deliberately suppress José's self-esteem with a look or two of disdain, a few sneering words. You can also appear in the desert and say sneering words to Bai Xiu in the bitter battle.
Demos is cowardly.
In the face of Carette's obsession with José, who has lost his memory, and even guards himself like a jade, he will also be distressed by jealousy, and his heart aches.
Demos's emotions are delicate and changeable.
There is a scene setting when she fights Helen in a volume.
Late at night, Carette returns to her hotel and meets Demos, who is visiting her. Finding her crying nose, he reached out to wipe her tears but she avoided her. At this time, Demos's performance was to straighten her face with one hand, and the other hand reached up, and a few fingertips gently stroked her face.
Here, Feng Er highlights his character with the strong contrast of the strength of the character's two hands, which is unruly on the outside, but considerate on the inside.
When it comes to emotional entanglements, Demos's biggest flaw is his relationship with Kali, the goddess of blood.
Kali was one of Demos's most loyal followers in the gods, leaving Olympus's rich and comfortable life behind him to live alone in the dark temple of another dimension.
Demos knew Cali's feelings for him, but in his words, Cali was too much like himself, all so persistent and stubborn. A man and a woman who are too similar can't come together at all!
Another key point is that because of the extraordinary drinking party encounter of the god generation, the corner of love left in his heart was monopolized by that gentle and lovely figure.
To Cali, Demos is eternally sorry, not only for not being able to respond to her love, but also for finally repenting of his oath to the Dark Clan.
Demos said to Cali, sooner or later, I will repay you for your kindness to me!
In the fourth volume in the future, let's wait and see what unique way this love-hate god of darkness will repay the obsession and affection of the goddess of blood!
Demos, the god of darkness, is evil on the outside and sincere on the inside.
Karet, the messenger of love and light, is weak on the outside and tough on the inside.
The fate of light and darkness should kill each other but love each other, and the two with strong internal and external contrasts are destined to deduce an extraordinary colorful movement!
Thank you book friends for following you all the way, so stay tuned for the follow-up plot!
