Chapter 107: Turning the Tiger Away from the Mountain
It was dark again, and Fern approached the camp with his companions' cautious approach, and the woods were even darker, barely within ten yards. The group did not enter the woods from the nearest route, but deliberately spared a small circle to the left and inserted the woods from the side, and then marched through the woods. The well-trained knights walked through the woods with little sound, and the two mages followed them, following in their footsteps without much trouble.
At the forefront were Fern, Ulph and Ted, and Fern could clearly sense that Ness and Morena were not far ahead, and he stopped and found a clean place to sit down. "It's not far ahead, wait here. β
Magill stepped forward and winked at Ulf and Ted, and the two walked to a distance of about ten yards in front of Fern and each found a tree to climb up, while Clifford and Fraser climbed the two trees behind them, each of them taking a corner and surrounding the rest in the middle.
Everyone sat down and rested, they did not dare to speak loudly, and could only whisper in a very small voice with the people around them. They had already discussed how to set up the ambush at dawn, and now they could enter their camp as soon as the Twilight Cult and the Demon Demon left the place.
On this night, the sky was cloudy, the moon and stars were nowhere to be seen, and the whole land was plunged into darkness. Tillin sat for a long time and tried to move his hands and feet, but since he couldn't see anything, he kicked Fern's buttocks, and the mercenary's hoarse voice immediately came. "What's the situation?"
Tirin replied in a whisper. "I'm sorry, it's me, my feet are numb, I'll rub them for you. As he spoke, he stretched out his hand.
Fern couldn't see clearly, so he hurriedly waved his hand between himself and Tirin. "It's okay, don't come here. β
Nerfi heard the whispers of the two and followed the sound to crawl to the two of them. "Fern, what do you say we should do if the Twilight Cult or the Demons don't all go to the ruins?"
"I've also considered this, the holy weapon is the last thing they need, and they will definitely do their best, so even if there are people left to guard the camp, it won't be much, we can deal with it. Fern didn't think much of it.
"But they didn't need to take all three hostages, but only Morena and Bared, because they knew that even if they took Ness, they wouldn't be able to put any pressure on Adeline, and everyone knew that Aloisius wouldn't hurt Ness. The scent on Nellfi's body made Fern frown. "If that's the case, they'll be left behind to guard Ness. β
Fern was silent for a few seconds, and although no one could see his application clearly, they could guess that it would not look good, and finally he spoke. "Why didn't you say this question earlier? Also, this scent on your body will expose us, I hope those mages don't smell it, are you wearing any perfume?"
Nerfi grimaced, but luckily no one could see it in the dark. "I didn't paint it, it's born, you know, it's born!"
Stan is also on the sidelines to help Nalfi from the siege. "Nellfi must have just thought of it, otherwise she would have said it in the camp, but now that she can think about it, at least it will buy us a little time, and it's time to think about it. β
Fern sighed, revealing a sense of frustration. "There's really no good way to do this, and in my opinion, the only way to do it is to rush in and solve the guards. β
Rui's voice rang out not far away. "But such words may attract the attention of Aloisius, there must be some means of communication between them, once we sneak up on their camp, the front must know that with a close teleportation, Aloisius will return, and our plan will fail. β
"In that case......" Fern pondered. "I see that when they teleported, it was a black vortex, presumably it was dark magic, Rui, is there anything you can do to stop it?"
Rui thought for a moment. "It should be possible, but the other party is Aloisius, and my mana is no match for him at all. β
"So be it, there's no other way. Fern stopped talking, trying to feel the two hostage mages, who were still in place and had not moved, indicating that Aloisius had not yet moved.
The wait was difficult, especially in the darkness, and in the middle of the night it rained heavily, and in Serendra it was frequent, heavy and short-lived. Sure enough, not long after the downpour had wet everyone, the rain stopped, but everyone was wet and uncomfortable, and the mud in the woods became muddy and even more difficult to walk.
Zach shook his soaked clothes and cursed under his breath. "It's not going well before you make a move!"
"Shut up, you idiot. Magir reprimanded from the side, "I will let you guard the city gate for two months when I go back this time!"
"Don't, Captain, I won't say it. Zach wrung the rain off his clothes in frustration. "Let me guard the gates than let me ......"
"Don't talk!" Fern interrupted Zach abruptly, and everyone held their breath and fell silent. "They're moving!"
No one spoke, they all waited patiently for Fern's next instructions, the air seemed to freeze, and finally, Fern spoke, "It's true that they only took Jaurena, Ness stayed in the camp, and I guess Barred was taken away as well." β
"Well, that's exactly what I said. Nerfi spread her hands in the dark.
Magill tightened his grip on his weapon. "Come on, Fern, there's only one way now. β
"Yes. Fern nodded and stood up, as did Tirin and Nerfi beside him, and then the knights stood up one by one, ready for action.
In the ruins, Adeline stood in front of the tent with her staff in hand, Ettiyesh beside her, and the rest of the surviving mages lined up on either side of the two, opposite the Twilight Cult and the Sharies, who held Jarena and Bared in their hands.
Adeline's complicated gaze fell on Barrede's face, who also looked at her firmly. "Aloisius, what do you mean by that?"
Aloisius sneered, "You are a smart man, Adeline, you must know what I mean, give me the holy weapon, and they will not die." β
"I'll leave it to you, and then let you destroy Wallis?" replied Etiyesh coldly, "don't dream, we can't say yes." β
"It's okay if you don't say yes. Aloiseus waved his hand back, and the two demons pressed Barred in front of him and kicked him hard at the back of his knee, Bared fell to his knees and Aloiseus looked at Adeline. "Adeline, I know your relationship with Bared, can you bear to watch Barred get killed in front of you?"
Adeline looked sternly at Aloiseus. "Your meanness is beyond my expectations, Aloisius, are you still a little ashamed as a great sage?"
"Shame?" said Aloisius disdainfully, "I'm allied with the Dark Lord, what shame do you talk to me about?"
Etiyèsz's face turned very ugly, and Adeline didn't care. "He's him, not on behalf of anyone else, Barred is a man of integrity, you shouldn't be angry with him, and you shouldn't be angry with everyone in Wallis!"
"It's too late to say anything. Aloisius laughed grimly, and one of the demons suddenly kicked Bared in the stomach, and the warrior fell to the ground screaming in pain. "I'll ask again, do you pay it or not, I don't have the patience to ask more. β
"Don't give it to him!" Barred didn't forget to remind Adeline even though he was lying on the ground. The demon kicked him again in the right ribs, and the warrior was almost kicked so hard that he couldn't scream.
Adeline was still hesitating when Hayshuin stepped forward, drew her sword in stone, and placed it on Barreid's neck. "Adeline, I really want you to taste the pain I once had, but since Aloisius has said, as long as you hand over the Hallows, I will forget it, otherwise, I will be more than happy to let Ganimet taste his blood. β
"Haysuein, what does Barred have to do with me, you should look for Elonhan, but he's dead. Adeline said with a blank face.
"Hahahaha!" Haysuiin laughed insolently. "Do you think I don't know, Adeline? You have a stronger affection for Barred than anyone else, well, it's useless to talk too much, make a decision quickly. β
Adeline pursed her lips, her heart tormented. Fern, hurry, I'm buying you time, hurry!
