Chapter 101: Cracking the Circle

As before, Fern stopped when he was still five yards away from the circle. The mercenary half-crouched, turning back and motioning for Ness to follow him for a moment, and the mage nodded nervously in response. Then Fern took a deep breath and suddenly ran into the circle with a quick force, and Ness hurriedly followed.

Instead of walking in a straight line, Fern cut into the circle from the left side of the nearest tent, ran a few steps before crossing the second tent to the right, and finally crossed the third tent to the left again, quickly running out of the circle.

Ness tread where Fern had stepped with every step, and nearly slipped on the last turnback, but the goat hair boots were slip well enough to catch the ground just as the mage's right foot slipped out.

The two of them crossed the circle smoothly, standing on the opposite side and nervously looking at the white and red tents in the circle, but nothing happened. In the silence, the tent connected by red ropes looked very strange.

Then, Stan and Rui followed Fern's method and slowly advanced towards the front of the circle.

At this time, a thin mist slowly floated in the circle, blocking the two teams, and the companions on the opposite side gradually became blurred.

"Hell, this fog reminds me of what happened on the White River, I'm afraid something is going to happen. Fern anxiously looked at Stan and Rui, who were still faintly visible, and the two had reached the edge of the circle, and were now half-crouching, ready to rush quickly.

Obviously, Stan and Rui were also afraid of this unprovoked fog, and instead of rushing into the circle immediately, they chose to wait where they were for the time being.

The fog grew thicker, and the last thing Fern saw was a stand-by gesture from Stan's left hand, and then, in the blink of an eye, his companion disappeared behind the thick fog.

"Fern, what do we do now?" Ness, frightened and flustered, forgot to use wind magic for a moment.

"You summon a strong wind to see if you can blow through the fog, just like on the White River. Fern reached out his right hand and stopped in front of Ness, slowly taking a few steps back, away from the fog.

"Hmm. Ness raised her hands above her head, her lips quickly opened and closed, and the air around her began to spin, and the wind quickly brushed the mercenary's cheeks, blowing the mage's long hair. The flow spun faster and faster, and even blew the cloaks of the two, and a terrible whistling sound sounded in Fern's ears.

With the incantation finished, Ness's lips closed and her hands swung forward, and a strong gust of wind blew violently from behind the two of them into the thick fog in the circle, almost knocking Fern to the ground. The mercenary took a step forward to barely hold on to his body and not fall forward, but when he turned his head to look at Niss, he found the mage standing firmly in place, his long hair blown in front of him by the strong wind from behind his ears, constantly fluttering, and the cloak was clinging to his back, swinging on both sides.

Only then did Fern realize that Ness had grown a lot along the way, and it had already exceeded his expectations. Even this strong wind was much more violent than the one on the White River.

The fog in front of them gradually dissipated under the continuous strong wind, and the outermost tent appeared in front of the two of them again. Then the second tier, then the third tier, and finally, the innermost tent showed a bit of red.

Fern stared intently at the little bit of red that slowly turned into a red rope, but he immediately noticed that behind the red rope was something that wasn't there before the fog appeared.

Six corpses, which seemed to be spliced together from organs from different people, were pushing each other towards the four people outside the circle. Each corpse was almost two people tall, with thick arms and legs almost twice as thick as normal, and on the huge body, the normal-sized head looked very incongruous at this time.

The mercenary had drawn his sword and stood in front of Ness's side. The fog had completely cleared, and they saw Stan and Rui on the other side of the circle again, only to see that they had also set up their positions to take on these magical creations.

The dark magic had been activated, and a huge black mist flew towards the corpse closest to Rui, engulfing the small poor head and huge body in an instant, the black mist wrapped around the corpse, and before long, the upper body of the corpse disappeared out of thin air, leaving only the two legs that were still moving and the hips that connected them.

Rui didn't expect to solve a dead corpse so easily, and was in surprise, only to see that on the half of the body that was still approaching them, the upper body that was exactly the same as just now grew out strangely.

"How so!? There's no way that something that's been pulled into the Shadow Plane will ever come back to this plane. Rui's eyes widened, shocked by the unexpected sight in front of him.

"Let me come!" Stan stood in front of the mage, sword in both hands, and ran forward a few steps, then leaped with all his might, slashing the sword through the corpse's left shoulder. The knight's strength was so great that the obsidian sword swung from under the lower abdomen on the right side, slashing the corpse's body in two. Foul-smelling blood that had begun to turn black erupted from the destroyed body, and the rotting entrails made Stan dizzy.

The knight gasped and nervously looked at the mutilated body in front of him, which was still stepping out, and unsurprisingly, on the bloody half-cut body, the severed body grew again.

"Hell, what is this!" Stan quickly retreated to the mage's side, and the two of them were forced to retreat by the incoming corpses.

On the other side, Fern and Ness are in the same predicament. The mercenaries had cut off the head and leg of the corpse several times, but each time the decomposing body was restored intact. To the mercenary's surprise, the three corpses on their side did not dodge his sword at all, but instead ate all his attacks, and then recovered quickly. Before they knew it, the two had been forced to the entrance of the cave.

The two teams were surrounded by three corpses from the front, separated in two places, giving them less and less room to move.

Rui stepped back as he thought of ways to deal with the monsters in front of him, but even dark magic couldn't destroy the stenching corpses, and the mage couldn't think of anything else. With little time left, Rui became anxious and unleashed several clouds of black mist at the three corpses at once.

The three tall, bulky bodies began to dodge at the same time, as if they were being commanded by someone, as if they were controlled by an invisible thin line.

The black mist was mostly dodged, with only two clumps hitting two of the dead bodies, but as before, the part that had been swallowed by the shadows quickly grew back. Rui put down his wand in a frustration, no longer wasting his strength, and a sense of fear gradually welled up in his heart.

After the round of black fog attacks just now, Stan seemed to have noticed something, and he looked back at Rui nervously and a little excitedly, and said loudly, "Rui, do it again, attack again!"

Rui glanced at the knight puzzled, but the mage didn't ask much at this critical juncture. Not long after the obscure incantation sounded, three clouds of black mist flew towards the three dead corpses.

As the black mist is about to hit the corpse, the three bodies start to dodge at the same time, and this time Stan not only sees the corpse in front of him, but also notices that the corpse on Fern's side is doing the same dodging action as the three here. An idea forms in his brain.

"I see! Only one of the six corpses exists, the other five are illusions, and no matter how we attack, the ones who are hurt are illusions, so they can recover immediately. Stan excitedly said to the mage beside him, his hands shaking unconsciously.

Rui looked thoughtfully at the three corpses that were already very close to them. That would explain why even dark magic can't hurt them. ”

"That's right, so if we just find the one that isn't an illusion and kill it, the other five should be gone. Stan raises his obsidian sword, pointing at the corpse on the far left. "The one we've never been attacked by us until now must be the target we're looking for. ”

Ruiya straightened up and raised his wand. "Come on, Stan, just one blow, a fatal blow!"

The knight raised his gray-black sword, held it in front of him, and said something in his mouth, then dragged the sword in his right hand and quickly ran towards the dead body on the left. The mage weaved a black, mirror-like shield on the knight's right side, sucking the two rotting arms that had almost hit the knight as thick as a normal person's thighs into the abyss of shadows. Stan has no fear, he already knows that Rui will block the attack on the right side for her, and all he needs to do is give his target a fatal blow.

The corpse is in front of him, and Stan leaps with all his might, and he can already see the chest of the tall body. The corpse swung two foul-smelling arms at the knight, and two clouds of black mist flew quickly behind Stan's back, wrapping around the two arms accurately, and the arms were consumed by the shadow before they hit the knight, without hurting the knight in the slightest. Stan's mind is undisturbed, all his attention is focused on the corpse's skull, and when he reaches his highest point, he raises his obsidian sword with both hands and slashes it through the corpse's already rotting and purulent neck. The knight stood back on the ground, and the head of the corpse fell to the ground, followed by the corpse's massive, cumbersome body.

With the destruction of the True Body, the other five illusions all vanished at the same moment, as Stan had expected. The battle was over, but the air was still filled with the stench of dead bodies lying on the ground, and the torn burlap of the tent still crackled in the cold wind.
