Chapter XXXIII

The group trotted forward in the water for more than half an hour, the entire calf down was soaked in the water, and the clothes on their bodies were completely wet with sweat, they knew that there must be a lot of leeches crawling on their bodies, but they couldn't take care of so much anymore, they didn't even want to take a look, they were afraid that after seeing it, their legs would be weak and they would never be able to take a step again, and everyone was running in the almost knee-high water. Finally, after almost an hour of running, Wright's voice came from ahead. "It's almost there, hold on!"

Stan's feet finally hit the mud covered with fallen leaves, but Wright didn't stop, and continued to run forward for ten minutes before finding a neat open space to stop. "Quick, everyone burns each other's leeches, and then the horses. ”

"Hell, the damn candles are gone, the mage is dizzy again, how are we going to burn?" Magill cursed, but immediately took flint and velvet out of his pannier.

Wright did the same, and the two of them squatted on the ground for a while before they lit the velvet, and the knights on the side endured the neck and the leeches that leaked through the gaps in their clothes, but they couldn't pull them out, and the leeches all sucked enough blood, and one by one they became round and blood-red. Stan ignores the leech on his body, and frowns as he looks anxiously at a bulging blood ball on Nerfi's cheek in his arms.

The first candles were quickly distributed to the knights, and then more candles were lit until each of them had a burning candle in their hands and began to repel the leeches from each other in pairs. Wright didn't need anyone's help, he skillfully searched for the blood ball on his body, and then just burned it with the flame, and the leech released the suction cup and fell to the ground. Magill and Tillin both took off their shirts and looked for red spots on each other's bodies, and Wright laughed unconsciously when he saw it, and after being glared at by Magill fiercely, he walked over to Stan and Nerfi's horses to clean them up with leeches.

Stan carefully holds the candle close to Nerfi's white, delicate face, causing the heart-wrenching leech to fall, and Stan shakes it off and stomps it down, splattering a pool of blood. However, Nerfi is left with a small red circle stained with blood, and Stan is afraid to erase it with his hands, but hesitates to do so.

Wright sees Stan's hesitation and walks towards him. "Don't worry, there may be some swelling, but it will be fine right away, not even a scar. ”

"Well, I can't imagine if she'd go crazy if she had a scar. Stan thanked Wright, and then looked back at Nerfi, who was still unconscious.

"It's okay on her face, but maybe she has it on her, but we're all men here, and she's unconscious, and no one can check on her. Wright thought for a moment, then looked at Stan suspiciously. "I've heard people say that if a knight swears to a lady that he will protect her, then ...... Did you swear an oath?"

"I didn't swear, Wright, and, even if I did, I still couldn't do this. Stan shook his head, his brow furrowed a little closer.

"Then I have to wait for the leeches to suck up and leave, but it's not a big problem, seeing that this mage wraps himself so tightly, there must not be many leeches that get into his clothes. Wright shrugged his shoulders and walked back toward hope.

"Thanks, Wright. Stan looks gratefully at the guide's back.

"You're welcome, knight, and when that big sister wakes up, don't forget to let her check her body. Wright smiled back, and Stan noticed that the boy's smile was actually quite sunny.

"Don't call her big sister in front of her, it's better to call her by her first name. Stan gives Nerfi a nervous look, but the mage still has his eyes closed.

Wright shrunk his neck and hurriedly went to clean up the leeches. It took the knights half an hour to clean up the leeches on their bodies and horses, and the ground was full of leech corpses that they had trampled to death. Wright and the group walked forward for a few more minutes, stopping to rest in another place that was still relatively clean.

The knights had already recovered from the thrill just now, and they were all drinking water and chatting, and some of the knights' clothes had been stained red with blood in several places, and they looked like they had just gone through a fight. Tillin wiped the blood from his bare arms and walked over to Stan, where the knight sat upright on the ground with Nerfi in his arms. "Stan, you can just put her on the ground, come on, I'll help you see if you have any of those on you. ”

Stan looks at the wet ground. "No, it's too wet, it's going to be harmful to her body. ”

"Bad fart!" Magir stood up from the ground. "Stan, if you're my subordinate, I'm going to come over and kick your ass right now, get that chick down. ”

Stan, though unhappy with Magill's attitude, is not having a good seizure, he stands up, finds a dry pile of fallen leaves, and gently places Nerfi flat on the ground. Stan then takes off his shirt and Tillin checks it with a candle. While Tirin was engrossed, Nerfi gave two sighs on the ground, and slowly opened his eyes, and the first thing that appeared in the hazy eyes were two men with bare upper bodies, one of whom was still groping on the other. "What are you doing?"

Stan looks back in surprise and sees Nerfi's round eyes. "It's not what you think, Nerfi, Tirin is cleaning the leeches for me. ”

But Nerfi, frowning and looking disdainful, ignored the two of them, sat up on the ground, closed his eyes and began to meditate.

Stan reluctantly puts on his clothes and walks over to Nerfi and squats down. "You'd better check yourself for leeches as well. ”

"I'm fine, I don't need to. Nerfi didn't open his eyes and replied coldly.

Wright kindly walked over and persuaded him, "Let's check it, if there is, it will stain the clothes." ”

Nellfi opened her eyes and glared at Wright fiercely, staring him back. "I'm fine, let's get on the road, I just want to hurry up and rest at the camp you said. ”

Wright looked at Stan questioningly, and the knight nodded to him, and he took Nerfi's horse and walked to the front of the group. "The camp should be almost two hours away, so we'd better walk a little faster and get there before dark. ”

The knights followed the guide, and Stan walked over to Nerfi with Hope, bending his arms, but Nerfi had no intention of holding him on, and walked on his own.

Along the way, everyone experienced three short showers, which directly drenched everyone from head to toe, plus the stuffy environment made them sweat constantly, and in the end, they couldn't tell whether it was rain or sweat on their bodies. Nerfi's long flaxen hair was attached to her fair face and neck, making her very uncomfortable, Stan didn't know how to help her, and the mage's face was not very good-looking, which made Stan afraid to do anything.

Finally, not long after the fourth rain, Wright screamed in front of him. "Right in front, I can already see the edges and corners of the cabin. ”

The knights picked up their pace, and Stan looked at the sky, which seemed to take a while to get dark. "It's still early, let's find a way to take a shower. The words seemed to be spoken to himself, and as if to Nerfi, the mage's lips twitched, but no sound was made.

Wright, who was at the forefront, had already entered the open space around the cabin, but his reaction was somewhat unusual, and the shouts of Magill walking behind him were heard quickly. "Ulf, Ted, you two go to the left, Clifford, Xavier you go to the right, Zach and Fraser you go to the front, the others come with me, Tirin, you and Stan, you protect the mage and follow behind!"

"What's wrong?" Stan asked Tiern, nervously turning back.

"Corpses, several corpses. Tirin replied quickly, drawing her dagger from her waist and standing at Nerfi's side.

"Corpses?" Stan muttered to himself, drawing his sword and blocking Nerfi's side.

The six knights ran quickly in three directions, their movements showing no sign that they had been ravaged in the rainforest for a day, and they still disappeared quickly among the trees with vigorous steps.

Stan and Tillin scanned the surroundings vigilantly, and slowly approached Magill, only to see the captain of the knights crouching on the ground checking something, and the other four knights were also checking the corpses on the ground around them, and Wright was standing to the side, looking terrified.

Seeing that Stan had arrived at his side, Magill stood up. "It looks like the corpse of the mage, although it is a little decomposed, but I can still recognize the mage robe. ”

Stan looks at the corpse on the ground, his mutilated face showing the deceased's age, and his mage robes, though stained with mud, still indicate his identity. Stan looked up, and around them, there were several corpses lying in the same mage robes, all of which were rotten and covered in fallen leaves and sludge.
