Chapter Twenty-Seven: The Road to Rivalry is Narrow

The first ** of the dinner party had passed, and most of the mages were tired of dancing, sitting in their seats enjoying delicious food and drink, and some of the mages who were still in the mood were getting together to talk about something. The band plays soothing and beautiful tunes to make everyone eat more slowly.

There were only four people at the table where Barred sat casually, and all but him were male mages, which made him breathe a sigh of relief that he didn't have to worry about harassment from female mages. But accidents are called accidents because they happen when people don't expect them. Just as Barred was enjoying his meal, the door to the banquet hall suddenly opened slowly.

Who came so late, the dancing was over, Barred looked at the gate, and an image from his memory appeared in his mind, and the mercenary quickly turned around and buried his face in the wine glass.

Judging by his appearance, the person who came should be about the same age as Herrick, and he walked straight to the high platform, and the mages on both sides tried not to make a sound, and even lowered their voices for a while. As he walked behind Bared, the mercenary clearly felt a chill, which was not that the other party was casting a spell, but that Barred was delusional because of his inner tension.

The old mage walked up to the platform and looked at Herrick with disdain. "There's such a grand banquet, and you won't invite me, Herrick?"

Lucius's attention was then on the old mage, and then his eyes widened and he covered his face with his hands.

Herrick snorted. "Don't you disdain to attend any of our events? Why, Marosas, have you changed your mind now?"

Malosas sneered. "Of course I'm not interested in your activities, but I'm very interested in Prince Dayton's donation. ”

"Don't be delusional, Malosas, who knows what kind of crooked things you're studying, I won't give you any funding!" Herrick said sternly.

"Don't think that you are the great sage of the Mage Tower, you can restrain me, I don't eat this, I will personally ask His Royal Highness the Prince for funding. Marosas smirked, as if assured, and looked at Lucius, who was covering his face on the other side. "Your Royal Highness, it's late tonight, and I don't know if you have time tomorrow, I will explain to you what I am studying now, and I am sure that you will be very interested. ”

Barred looked nervously at Lucius, who noticed that Adeline was just as nervous as he was, and Lucius rubbed his fingers into his eyebrows and stood up suddenly. "I'm only here to meet with the Great Sage Herrick, and the rest of the itinerary is not part of my plans, sorry. ”

The moment Malosas saw Lucius, the old mage's face twitched unobtrusively. "Yes, it would be a shame that you would miss a discovery that shook the whole of Wallis. ”

Herrick relieved Lucius. "We don't need your discovery, Marosas, we'll use our power against the Dark Tide. ”

Malosas' gaze swept coldly over Herrick and Lucius, then turned abruptly and left without saying a word, hiding the mercenary's head as he passed Bared.

The dinner lasted until late at night, and the mages left the banquet hall one after another and returned to their rooms to rest, and there were only a few scattered mages left in the huge banquet hall, most of them were drunk unconscious male mages who could not walk. Seeing that it was almost over, Herrick got up to say goodbye to Lucius, and after a few polite remarks, went to rest.

Lucius saw that only Adeline, Barrede, and himself were left awake in the hall, so he immediately ran to Barrede, who was already sitting at the same table. "Did you see that guy? the old mage in the werewolf village, that is, he's him! ”

Barred looked at the wine glass in his hand. "Yes, I also recognize him, it's really a narrow road, he won't kill us, right?"

"I think so, he looked at me like he was going to eat me. Lucius wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, and my legs almost went limp. ”

Adeline remained calm. "In the Mage Tower, you don't have to worry about what he will do to you, even in Shavana, you are all safe, but once you leave Shavana, it's hard to say. ”

Lucius sighed. "Looks like I'll have to let the ravens go to Durham to bring the rescuers, and let my father send a few hundred soldiers to escort me back, and until then, I'll have to stay here. ”

"You think simply, so that Durham and the Mage Tower have maintained a relationship for generations, and it will be over. Barred shook his head. "We have to think of something else. ”

"Herrick won't sit idly by, he'll help us. Lucius was confident in what he was saying, and he looked at Adeline. "You must have told him what happened to us in the werewolf village. ”

"Oh, this ......," Adeline flickered.

Barred took a sip of his wine and glanced at Adeline. "I'm guessing Herrick must have known that Marosas was behind Werewolf Village, but he didn't know that we were also involved in this. ”

"How so?" Lucius looked at Adeline in realization. "I see, you must have erased me and Barred from this matter in order to make Herrick think that you were the one who took care of this task?"

Adeline didn't speak, just nodded very unnaturally.

"Damn, I'm going to Herrick and tell him the truth, I don't want to be trapped here!" Lucius said, standing up and leaving.

"Stop!" Barred pulled Lucius back. "We can't do that, it's going to hurt Adeline, she's going to be charged with lying. ”

"What is the charge of lying? Could it be that the Mage Tower would execute a man for lying?" Lucius angrily shook off Bared's hand. "But Marosas will kill us because we know who he is!"

Lucius ran to the door again, this time Barred didn't catch him, and the mercenary had to chase after him, Lucius's robes limited his speed, and Barred caught up with him, knocking him to the ground, and the two scuffled again. "You idiot, let me go, are you going to even pull your friend into the water for that chick?" Lucius roared angrily.

"Don't worry, let's think of another way. Barred grabbed Lucius's hands and pressed him to the ground.

"Fart, if you don't let go, I'm going to get serious!" Lucius was really angry.

Two toes in white cloth shoes appeared in the eyes of Lucius and Bared, and the two looked up at them with their feet raised, and Ilsutia was looking at them with raised eyebrows. "What's going on, can the Knight Captain do anything to the prince?"

"Ilsutia. Adeline walked over too. "They're in big trouble!"

"I know, what you told me, it's really a coincidence, that Marosas wants to see this ...... Prince. Ilsutia looked up and stopped looking at the two men on the ground. "What are you going to do, Adeline? ”

"I ......" Adeline tried to quibble, but found that what Ilsuthia said was completely irrefutable.

Lucius used all his strength, his arm was almost numb by Baredler, and he had to beg for mercy, but Barred let him go, and the two got up from the ground. "I've been miserable by you, I think I'll surrender to Marosas, and then give him help to continue studying that werewolf thing. ”

Barred moved his hands and feet angrily. "If you hadn't rushed in so recklessly, you wouldn't have done this, and you yourself should be primarily responsible. ”

"Okay, now is not the time to point fingers, we have to find a way to come out. Ilsutia looked at the two impatiently. "I thought you two were amazing, but I was disappointed. ”

"Who are you?" Lucius said, staring at Ilsutia with a puzzled expression.

Adeline whispered, "She's Ilsutia, my best friend in the Mage Tower, and I've told her all about my experiences in the Werewolf Village and Paradais, and only she knows about it except you and me." ”

Lucius glared warily at Ilsutia. "You're not going to betray us, are you?"

Ilsutia snorted, glanced at Lucius, and turned to walk towards the door. "I've set up enchantments around my room, and if you want to come up with a foolproof plan without being discovered by Marosas, then come with me. ”

Lucius looked at Adeline, the girl nodded, and the prince shook his head helplessly and followed Ilsutia. Adeline approached Barrede, said thank you softly, and walked out. Barred didn't know if he was doing the right thing, he realized that he seemed to have sold his brother for the sake of a woman, but then he thought that there must be a way to do both, so his heart was no longer as heavy as it was just now, and he quickly caught up with Adeline.
