Chapter 15: The Sacred Vessel and the Seal
Fern had recovered from his distraction, but he still trembled a little as he spoke. "You're asking us to find the lost Hallows?"
Sigmund crossed his hands and supported his chin. "Yes, Fern, I don't dare to entrust this task to anyone else, the Sacred Artifact is too important to us, and I must not take any more risks, so I will only tell you this secret. β
Stan takes a step forward excitedly, his eyes full of determination. "Rest assured, High Lord, we will not fail in our mission and bring the holy artifact back to Canrito safely. β
"Wait. Rui interrupted Stan. "My lord, forgive me for my rudeness, but if even Etiyesh could want to take the Sacred Weapon for his own selfish desires, how can we believe that you have no intention of doing so?"
Rui's words startled her companions, and Stan looked at her angrily, if it wasn't for Rui who said this, Stan would have punched the other man in the face.
Sigmund didn't blame Ray for his rudeness. "If I were to do this, I would have found an excuse to get the Artifact out of the city, and then claim that the Artifact had been taken from me, so that I could kill two birds with one stone, without waiting for Etiyesh to come, but I never did. β
Rui didn't answer the Great Lord, but looked at him indifferently. Manfred stood up from one side and staggered to Ray's side. "Since Adeline and I both believe in the High Lord, you should be able to trust us. β
"I'm sorry, Great Sage. Rui bowed to Manfred. "But my previous experience has made it difficult for me to trust a person easily, especially someone who has not experienced life and death together. β
"Oh well. Manfred smiled. "In that case, then you can follow me to Tempe, and I hope that we can experience life and death on our journey. β
"What...... Tempe?" Rui frowned in confusion as he was a little confused.
The Great Sage laughed. "Let's let the High Lord continue, we've interrupted him too many times. β
Sigmund waved his hand. "It's okay, I'm just worried that if we drag on too long, our heroes will starve. β
As soon as he finished speaking, Fern's stomach gurgled, and Nerfi and Ness, who were on the side, couldn't help but cover their mouths and laugh.
Sigmund smiled unconsciously. "It's really my fault, I'll be more concise than I am. The High Lord sat up straight on his throne. "As the Great Sage has said, he is going to Tempe, or Delus to be exact, and he needs to persuade Augusta, King of Tampe, to accept our invitation to the League, and to obey my transfer. As he spoke, the eyes of the Great Lord and the Great Sage intersected and nodded to each other. "But the Great Sage also wants one of you to accompany him, and it seems that he has a suitable candidate. β
Rui looked between Manfred and Jarena in surprise. "Doesn't the Great Sage go with his own students?"
Manfred smiled knowingly at Jarena. "Of course I think, in fact, Adeline's letter asking Lucius to allow Morena to come with you is also my request, because I want to take this opportunity to mingle with my protΓ©gΓ©, but since you have stepped into the hall just now, I have noticed that she seems to be more interested in the other person here, even more than in me, the old man. β
"Master, don't talk nonsense. "Jasmine, who is usually calm, can't help but be shy when facing her master.
"Nonsense, then you can go to Tempe with me. With that, Manfred turned and walked towards his chair without looking back.
"Wait...... Wait a minute, there are other arrangements, I can't make a decision until the Great Lord finishes speaking, maybe other arrangements are more suitable for me. Jasmina bit her lower lip, not daring to look at Fern.
"Don't wait, you can join the group with that person anyway. Manfred sat back in his chair and smiled again.
Although the Great Sage did not say the name of the man, Ness had already guessed the answer, and she pursed her lips tightly, secretly determined in her heart that this time she would be with Fern no matter what, and she would never be separated again.
The voice of the Great Lord rang out again. "In addition to going to Dluth, we need two teams, one of which is destined for a forest on the western border of Roanoke. Sigmund looked at Fern meaningfully. "Fern, do you remember that forest?"
"Yes. Fern's gaze visibly paused for a few seconds. "The locals there call that forest the Westwood Forest, and I'll never forget it. β
"Yes, Westwood Forest, the Hallows are missing there, we need some of you to go there to find clues to the Hallows, and follow the clues to find the Hallows and bring them back to Kanrito. Sigmund said slowly. "Fern, do you want to take on this mission? Of course, I understand your feelings, and if you don't want to go back to that sad place, I'll send someone else. β
"No, let me go. Fern looked up at the Grand Lord. "This matter will not end until the murderer behind the scenes is duly punished, and I must arrest this murderer with my own hands. β
"Good. The Grand Lord nodded in satisfaction. "And how many companions do you need to bring?"
As soon as the Grand Lord's words fell, Niss raised her head almost at the same moment, looking at Fern expectantly, and the mercenary slowly turned to her. "Will you come with me, Ness?"
"I do, Fern, I ...... I'm going to help you find the killer. Ness nodded vigorously.
Sigmund interrupted the two. "I would like to remind you that your first task is to find the Hallows, and of course it is best to find the murderer at the same time, but I want you to prioritize them. β
Fern nodded apologetically at the High Lord. "Yes, my lord, we understand. β
"If only you understood, Ferne. Sigmund's expression returned to seriousness. "Are you sure two people are enough, do you need other companions?"
Before Fern could reply, Manfred interjected, "I have a proposal, given the importance of the Hallows, it is necessary for Fern to add someone to the team, preferably someone who knows more about the Hallows, and there happens to be such a person among us. β
Morena bit her lip and waited for her master's answer, and the voice of the great sage came as scheduled, "At a young age, Morena is already one of the most knowledgeable mages in the Mage Tower, and her collection of books in Durham can make ordinary people read for a lifetime, so I think she will be an indispensable companion on the road to find the Hallows Artifact." β
Ness looked at Fern worriedly, she didn't know why she was worried, Fern stared at the great sage's eyes full of dissatisfaction, but couldn't find a word to refute it for a while.
Sigmund's knuckles tapped on the armrest of the throne. "Well, that's a good arrangement, so it's settled, Fern, Nice, and Morena and the three of you go to the Westwood Forest to look for the Hallows. β
"My lord, are there any other candidates, although Morena is a good helper, but the two mages are a bit too wasteful. Unable to find a suitable excuse, Fern had to make a fool of himself.
Manfred interjected at the right time, "Do you want to go alone with Molina? β
Fern glared at Manfred viciously, and the great sage pretended not to see it, and shook his head leisurely.
"Fern, the Great Sage is right, this is by far the best arrangement. Sigmund cupped his chin and waited quietly for Fern's answer.
Fern was about to argue, but Ness quietly tugged at the corner of his coat behind her. "Fern, it's okay, it's enough to be with you, and I have to admit that Morena knows more about the Hallows than I do. β
Fern sighed helplessly and patted Ness's hand. "Well, I agree. β
Sigmund nodded. "Well, let's talk about the last team, before you came here, Manfred had already discussed something else with me, and he mentioned that several of you had brought the Seal back to the Mage's Tower, but it was hidden by Aetiesh, and what exactly he was going to do with the Seal is still unknown, but Doyle and Adeline's eyes got some vague information. β
"Holy Seal?!, if you don't mention it, I'll almost forget it. Stan remembered the thing that had made them risk their lives to bring back the Mage's Tower.
Sigmund's gaze shifts to Stan. "Stan, you're going to be with the remaining mage...... Excuse me, ma'am, may I know your name?"
Nerfi bent his knees slightly. "Nerfi, my lord. β
"Forgive my rudeness, Nerfi, you need to go with Stan to Thorendra to find the whereabouts of the Holy Seal. Sigmund looked at Nerfi.
"Hell, Selendra, I thought I would never go there in my life. When Stan heard that he was going to Thorendra, Stan lost his temper.
"I understand that it is not pleasant for you who were born in Doyle to go there, but according to the information, Etiyesh sent someone to bring the Holy Seal there, and Doyle's eyes will meet you in Knoxville, a village in the north there, and then provide the information to you, but as far as I know, our information is not enough for you to find the Holy Seal immediately. Sigmund's gaze returned to Stan.
"Yes, my lordship, we will do our best to live up to our mission. Stan bows respectfully to the High Lord.
"Well, having said all this, you must be so hungry that you can't stand, look at me, not only do you not let you eat, but you even forget to prepare your chairs. Sigmund stood up with ease, apparently under pressure from the conversation. "I'll send someone to take you to the restaurant for dinner, then take a hot shower, have a good night's rest, and wait until tomorrow to talk about anything." β
After saying goodbye to the High Lord and the High Sage, and walking towards the gate, Fern approached Stan and grumbled softly, "As if we could still be asleep tonight after listening to what he just said." β
Stan laughed and patted Fern on the shoulder. "You can't escape it, Fern, be brave and face it all. β
