Chapter Twenty-Nine: Sweetheart

Alexia shattered the excess silver particles of magic.

The two of them returned to the teleportation room, their bodies safely stored through a magical transfer.

The brightly lit view outside indicated that it was past noon.

Gwen hesitated. They left in the morning! Did it all take only half a day? She felt like they had been in the river for a long time.

"Just the next day. Alicia noticed Gwen's confusion. She scrutinized the walls, looking for a timer. "Friday, to be exact. ”

"How did we go so long?" Gwen didn't believe.

"If you're constantly going in and out of your pockets, time works weirdly," Alexia explains, sometimes it's the dimension itself, and sometimes it's your body that's confused. The only thing you can trust is a timer that coordinates with the plane rotation. ”

Gwen glanced around Alexia's apartment, her eyes wandering over the glass window and landing on an installation on the coffee table.

"Alesia, can I use your message device?"

"Yue and Elvis?"

"Yue and Evia," Gwen agreed.

"Tell them that I took you to the city police station and we must record the testimony and guarantee your innocence. It's late, so you get some sleep. And don't forget your GEA company. ”

"Thanks, Alesia, I won't. ”

Gwen hobbled over to the cushion of the armchair by the window. Her message rang a few times, followed by a hurried voice.

"Hey, who's this? You'd better not sell anything. ”

Classic Cantonese. Gwen was already feeling better.

"It's me, Gwen. ”

"Oh, Gwynnie, how are you, where are you, when are you coming back, who are you with, are you a boy, what did you have for dinner?"

Gwen endured Yue's bombardment until she was out of breath.

"I'm with Coach Alesia," Gwen explained, before telling the white lies she and Alesia had made up. Although it was for the benefit of her friends, she felt an acidic sting in her intestines.

"How's Alexia's apartment?" Yue's interest in Alesia is insatiable.

"Oh, that's beautiful! From there you can see the harbor and I can see almost everything in Bradfield Park. She has a penthouse suite......"

"How's Avia?"

"She's right here. Xiao Yue said with a giggle. "She's been arguing with me on the phone!"

"You devil! Put her on!" Gwen rebuked her companion.

"Gwynnie, I already miss you so much! Yue is a scumbag villain!"

Eve's voice soothed her nerves like a choir of angels. Gwen doesn't know why she's so attached to Avia. All she knew was that whenever she held the doctor in her arms, she felt calm. Was it a mother's business? She wondered, whatever the case was, that the golden girl would have Gwen's oxytocin when she was around.

"Hey Eve, how's the dorm going, has anything changed since the fiasco?"

"Much quieter. "We are still mourning," the therapist concluded, and we have a ceremony next week in honor of the instructor. Will you come back then?"

"Of course I hope so," Gwen replied. She sighed deeply - poor Mr. Boone and the others, died for no reason.

For a while, the girls continued to talk at length about the philosophical nothingness of life, taking up all their time.

"Bang!"

Gwen watched in amazement as a translucent magician hand opened the refrigerator, took a stubby one from the inside of the refrigerator, and floated across the kitchen island, resting on Alexia's hand. Gwen had been on the phone for a long time, and Alicia took a shower and changed her clothes.

Alicia slammed the high neck.

"Fresh. Smooth. It's true. It's all here. "The beer was too good, not good. Her sister winked at Gwen and kicked her robe off to reveal a little of her legs.

"Poof!" Gwen burst out of a snorting laugh while still holding the message message.

"Gwen?" Elvia's voice asked, confused. "Hello, what's wrong?"

Alicia was already delirious and spilled a little beer everywhere.

"I'll tell you later, Eve, I should be back tomorrow night. ”

"Alright, Gwynnie!

Gwen replaced the information device.

"Eat as much as you want. Alicia gestured to the fridge before realizing that there was something wrong with her generosity. "Make sure that commanding soldier. You're not big enough!"

Oddly enough, she often forgets that Gwen is only half her age. Sometimes, when watching the girls train, Alicia has a strange feeling that Gwen is much older than her, a person closer to a contemporary, someone equal to her.

"I'd like to have a drink, though," Gwen politely asked, if I could?

See? That's it, who the fuck said that? Alexia's scalp tingled. She never knew she was going to say something like "can I?" casually. When she was a teenage girl, she was always yelling and angry. Even now, social etiquette is a chore.

Alicia ordered another bottle of beer.

Gwen jumped to the top.

"Cheers, Alessia. Thank you for everything. ”

The two clinked glasses, and then Alicia watched in amazement as Gwen slammed the hard beer for a long time.

Taking advantage of Alexia's generosity, Gwen pulls a snack out of the fridge, a seamless unit built into her modern kitchen. Gwen, however, was greeted by rows of beer, stacked in cardboard packages. In addition to beer, there are two or three piles of things that look like instant curry. On the door were a suspicious jar of milk and a few chocolates. Could there be fruit?Gwen pondered, her eyes continuing to scan, little hope. At the end of the refrigerator, she finds a dying pear, isolated and forgotten. The freezer below is nothing good either, only frozen dinners.

Gwen slowly closed the door, then looked at her athletic handicraft sister.

She realizes that the fire mage has incredible metabolic abilities.

After a large cup of hot tea, Gwen borrowed a handful from Alesia's closet and returned to the guest bathroom to take a shower. She was lucky that they were wearing similar sizes, even though Alexia's figure was much wider than her younger peers.

The water was top-notch, and Gwen used the shower meditation to recall her thoughts. She is now a secret apprentice of a powerful mage, with the potential to become a young mage. What Gwen needs is training, experience and time. Her master told her that in order to improve her spell level, she needed to venture into the green zone for combat practice. It is impossible for a squire to grow up in a greenhouse, even if she visits him every two weeks to pay his tuition.

In addition to training, she has another pressing problem - she is poor, and she cannot count on financial support from either parent. Even if Gwen sold all her mother's old gifts, those fabulous clothes, shoes, designer handbags and her shiny gold bricks, what about her long-term expenses?

Spell training requires a fixed fee. The original LDM, or HDM, could provide extra mana for extended practice if she could afford it. Fieldwork, quests, and dungeons also require magic items to reduce the risk of permanent damage. Potions, utilities, translocation, protective equipment, portable shelters, and more.

She was a bit pampered, and immature enough to hope that the judge would give her a ring with the appearance of a kind but doting father. Unfortunately, Henry just smiled and said that she should learn to fend for herself, just like Alexia and Gunther did when they were younger.

After taking a long shower, Gwen shows up on the couch and finds Alicia asleep. She took out a blanket and carefully placed it on her companion's chest. From rescuing Gwen from her uncle's team, to rescuing her from the cave, to rescuing her from indefinite detention, it's hard to believe they only met months ago.

Gwen slipped into her borrowed outfit and slipped into a loose shirt and a pair of shorts that Alexia couldn't wear anymore. Just as she was drying her hair, a "bang" came out of the attic, followed by a distinctly harsh sound.

"Hey, Alessia, Gwen, are you decent, can I come in?"

Alicia woke up from the couch, the towel falling to the side to reveal herself, rubbing her eyes and staggering.

"Oh, Gang Se is here, how long have I been out?"

Gwen rushed over to make a robe for the modest Alesia.

"About an hour," she replied.

"I need a change of clothes. Alicia forced herself to her feet and staggered to her bedroom.

"Hello...?" Gunther's voice came from below.

Gwen closed the bedroom door.

"Alesia is going to change," she said loudly, so they could both hear.

"Well, I'm in," Gunther replied, and a hidden panel in the hallway opened, revealing the teleportation room. When Gwen goes downstairs, he meets Gwen, who is barefoot and flustered by Alessia's carelessness.

"Gwen. Gunther nodded, her face glinting.

"Hi, Gunther. Gwen felt a little scared that her teenage hormones were running counter to her better judgment. Gonse walked past her, the smell of cologne pricking her nose and headed for the kitchen.

"Hungry?" he asked, placing his hand on the empty counter and seeing a variety of meats and vegetables. "Dinner was ready right away. ”

God, he cooks too. Gwen felt an unsettling attraction begin to arise. She salivated as Gunther Schultz rolled up her sleeves, revealing her finely haired arms, taut like tightropes. The mage wandered around, familiar with every compartment, even the cupboard where utensils and other utensils were hidden.

"So, you should probably hear that I'm your big brother on the plane," Gunther chanted in his radio host's voice. Gunther von Schulz. Nice to see you. ”

"Again, Gwen Song. Please call me Gwen. ”

The two trembled, and Gunther's glove-like hand swallowed Gwen's pale stem.

"Gunther, huh...... Is it a lord?" Gwen asked out of curiosity. As far as she knew, "Feng" was a noble particle, indicating the patrilineal relationship of the nobility.

"It's just a title, leave it alone. The rest of the men's team was either gone or dead, so I had to hold on.

"Where is your family from, Gunther?"

"Oh, our house is everywhere now, but our estate is in Old Bavaria, near Breitgneg. The original private land was turned into a freehold by my father, who tried to get rid of all politics by giving it up, a title that fell to me when I studied under Master Kilroy. ”

"I know some of the words," Gwen admitted.

Gunther's laughter was heartfelt and full of joy.

"What about yourself?"

"I think it's a refugee. "Gwen lowered her eyes: my father was a Eurasian refugee from China, and my mother was a colony of the Netherlands and Indonesia. ”

"I'm sad to hear that they had to flee their homes," Gunther said sympathetic as a paladin, and I was ashamed that even now, the half-human, half-human threat is still serious. ”

The two continue to exchange personal details, and Gwen tells Gunther about some of the things that happened in her family and how Alexia saved her from potentially tearing the handsome young man to shreds.

"She's doing a great job," Gunther agreed. "Ellie is like my sister. I've known her since you were 14 years old? 13? It was a troubled time!"

"Gwen perked up, eager to hear some prequel adventures, Alexia, the Scarlet Witch.

As he spoke, Gunther's hands became blurred, and like a magician, he cut, sliced, dressed, and moved on the various ingredients. This pheasant turns into a roasted miracle in the oven, dripping juice on heirloom vegetables. A bunch of lamb chops turned into caramel lollipops. The fragrant soup is simmering in a pressure cooker, and it seems that the creamy brΓΌe is used for dessert. The whole process, with its precision, is like a handmade cooking show.

"Well, it's a very relevant story," Gunther said, turning the memory into his head.

"Do you know why those guards in the tower are so hostile and disrespectful to Alesia? ”

"I'm thinking about it. ”

"Indeed," Gunther continued, his hands moving the pan and stirring the sauce. "So this was about, oh, five years ago? While Scouting on the North Coast, Alicia and her team came across some rogue merchants who were selling all sorts of things to people who lived in the wilderness. Of course, selling things to thieves mages and half-humans outside the city is a problematic gray area, so Alicia brings together a lot of them, including customers. ”

"They offered her a bribe, she refused, and then checked their list. What she found was disturbing. Have you ever heard of the organ trade?"

β€œ...... Really?" Of course, Gwen had heard about these things in her old world, too, though such atrocities often disappeared from the reality of her first world state.

"I guess it's not unusual. One way or another, rogue businessmen collect specific organs, brains, hearts, livers from dead people. These are considered delicacies for some of the more predatory demi-human tribes, including merfolk, merfolk, raven, lizardmen, and many more. ”

"They eat people?" Gwen knotted her stomach, unaware of the hypocrisy of her exaggerated reaction. She's been eating the Wasteland for half a year, and a good steak kidney pie is her life's favorite. Her favorite food, spam, is itself a mysterious wild meat.

"Of course. All living things have to eat. What they eat happens to be people. Gwen, the laws of nature and more. This is not to say that half-human humans don't eat each other. A group of homeless people will not refuse a lizardman. ”

"I see. Gwen said.

"One way or another, back to the people who trade in organs. We call them half-human monsters, but they're quite intelligent after all: vagabonds, lizardmen, merfolk, and it's entirely possible for them to speak human language, or teach us how to speak theirs. Where there is exchange, there is trade. Most of the time, they're chasing our tricks. You see, there is no unified currency for transactions among half-humans. Yes. In the tower, the grey faction is one who does most of the trading and who runs the grey market. In any case, less civilized tribes will dig up fragments of tooth drills, mana cores, precious metals, large creatures, and then exchange food and crystals with these rogue merchants. ”

Gunther tossed some salad into the bowl and let the spinners spin around to drain the water. "Although they are elemental, the higher demihumans are physiologically similar to humans and have the same desire for the flesh. In fact, we are the only race that produces crystal currency and food on an industrial scale. ”

"If that's the case, can't we put pressure on them with trade sanctions?"

"We've tried. Gunther grimaced. Gwen noticed that the man was handling all the pots and pans with his bare hands. "Those inferior creatures who like to eat chicken and pork, too stupid to trade with them, they don't have what we want, they don't understand the treaty. Taller monsters, such as Ramasu, Evil Eye, or demihumans like the Forest Race, tend to think of us as inferior, dog-like creatures. ”

"They think 'we' are animals?!" Gwen hesitated, thinking about how Europeans had treated Aboriginal Australians.

"That's fair. "Gunther sprinkled some salt on the roast and think about it, we kill these creatures for their mana stonesβ€”they kill us for our hearts, brains, and livers, and all the parts of your body that are necessary to produce and control mana. ”

"And... What did Alicia find?"

Gwen was glad that Gonser was cooking soup instead of cutting meat or something.

"That's true. So you can imagine what was going through Ellie's head when she saw boxes of things labeled with price tags. She's a little grumpy, you know.

"I can imagine......" Gwen swallowed.

So, after frying most of the traders, she started questioning them, and that's when she found out that the traders worked for one of the judges in the tower, and the bodies were exchange items under the grey market. ”

Gwen connected the dots.

Alexia.

Tower.

Mr. Walken.

Gray factions, gray markets.

"Judge...... Walken?"

"Well done," Gunther said of her understanding, his pearly teeth glistening. "What do you think she did?"

The answer to Gunther's question was not beyond imagination.

"I'm trying to say that Alesia teleported to the tower and started shouting that he was a traitor," Gwen ventured to guess.

Gunther smiled.

"Oh, if only she had done that! Master Kielroy still has his IOU Stone collection!"

"What did she do?"

Ellie went straight to the judge's office to confront him. When he denied everything to his face, she set fire to his office and burned down his entire library. You should see the hustle, a mage, who burned down the office of one of the ten mages in the tower! The guards tried to stop her, but she insisted that it was all an accident. ”

"Oh my God!" Gwen's lips formed a perfect O.

"When the whole fiasco finally subsided, Master Henry had to punish Alexia. She was stripped of her rank and discharged from the army disgracefully, so the guard kept calling her Major. Later, Master Henry gave Walken a complete set of IOUs, a set of 12, worth five thousand pieces

"Because of this, the gray faction hates her. Almost all of them had a companion injured in the accident. In fact, to this day, she has not apologized to Walken. ”

"Too ...... It's amazing......" Gwen took a sip of water. Even Gunther's second-hand story was enough to get her blood pumping.

"He was guilty and still is guilty!" a roar came from the second floor.

Alexia appeared.

Gwen's jaw hit the floor.

Her handicraft sister with makeup, smoky eyes, ruby lips and elongated eyelashes is a mane-backed pig. In addition, she wore a bright red cocktail party gown that showed her back and flirted with the silhouette of her white thighs.

Oh, my God. Gwen gasped. She liked him. She was completely in love with him.

But what did Gunther just say? She was sure she heard.

"She's like my sister......"

Gwen glanced at Alessia, and then at Gunther, who had been cooking, and her expression was natural, happily complementing Alexia's beauty with the tone in which someone else was talking about the dog to the neighbor.

Uh, Gwen's heart is broken, Alexia. You poor girl.
