Chapter 192: An Unexpected Encounter
The clouds were like ink, lightning pierced the sky, and thunder sounded like a war drum in the distant sky. Barrett and his party rushed eagerly over the nameless hills, finally returning to the village of Greenwick before the rain fell.
The dwarf mage, the bard, and the parrot all stayed at the herbmaster's house to rest, and Barritt greeted everyone with some unresolved doubts, and then took the little ghost with him, ready to go to the rather mysterious village elder again to ask some questions.
The wind howled more and more fiercely, but the rain hid in the clouds and lowered its eyebrows, shy, and refused to come happily. The village roads were becoming scarce of pedestrians, and little ghosts were floating around Barritt, letting the fallen leaves and broken branches pass through their translucent spirits.
Barrett followed his memory to the ordinary house and knocked on the door of the village chief's house again. He stood outside the door for a moment, but no response came from inside.
The brute knocked on the door again with a little force, to make sure that as long as there was a living creature inside, even if he was asleep, he would be able to hear it. However, it was still remarkably quiet inside the door.
It seems that the village elder is not at home.
"Uncle Big Man, do you want me to go through the wall and go inside?" said the little ghost quietly, looking eager to try.
The little guy is bad again, is it because of me?" Barrett said solemnly, "Don't do that, it's rude." "It seems that I will pay attention to my words and deeds in the future, alas.
Just as Barrett turned to leave, the building next door to the village chief's house suddenly opened, and a male villager walked out of it, "You ......" He looked at the little ghost again, "You want to find Amos?"
Amos??, "We're looking for the village chief. Barrett replied, looking at the other man without a trace.
The villager in front of him was wearing loose trousers made of wolf skin, his upper body was naked, and there were three long old scars on his shoulders. The scar didn't look like it was a blade, but rather something from a giant monster. The muscles in his arms were very strong, not much better than Barrett's, but he had a fat belly hanging from his abdomen.
The sky was dark, and a thunderbolt suddenly lit up between the rolling clouds, reflecting the figure of the person opposite on the ground, and disappeared in a flash.
Barrett felt a hint of peer breath from this person's body.
The villager may have been an adventurer before, or worked in one of the many adventurer spin-offs (e.g., bandit, bandit, bodyguard, etc.), and it seems that he is used to using a bulky two-handed weapon, or a heavy one-handed shield, similar to the Ogre Moglock's role in the team. The barbarian judged irresponsibly in his heart.
"The village chief, Amos, 'Perero's Invincible Swordsman', whatever you want to call it, it's all the same thing anyway. You know, there's no real point in calling it something like that......" the man said.
Peer, Barrett confirmed in his mind.
"It's like you can call me Borg or you can call me ...... , forget it, don't mention this. The man lifted his loose wolfskin pants, and his expression became a little excited.
"Well, then, the chief of Amos, he ......"
"He went out and was not in the village. The male villager didn't wait for Barrett to finish his question, but then gave the answer, "Also, don't ask me where the old man has gone, and don't ask me when he will be back." You may not know that Amos never told anyone about his journey, and he didn't like it to be explored. So, as soon as he left the village, no one knew where he had gone. What, you're in a hurry?"
"No, it's not urgent, it's just ......" Barrett muttered, not knowing if or how to speak, "yes...... Have you heard of Asha's Tears?"
"Of course. The male villager grinned, his teeth sharp and white, "I guess you're here to find this!"
He had an incomprehensible smile on his face, "I don't just know the name of the thing in between, but I also know how to find it." I also know that before I can find this damn thing, I need to get a few other items. Am I right?"
Barrett nodded. This guy seems to know quite a bit.
"Let me guess what you're looking for this time, 'Windsor's brunette', this one is definitely there, and there's no way to locate that thing without it. Haha......" The male villager suddenly laughed inexplicably, "When I'm bored, I can't help but think about what a funny thing it would be if that female monster turned bald. The corners of his mouth widened a little more.
At this moment, another bolt of lightning jumped in the clouds, illuminating the sharp teeth of the person in front of him, "In addition to the hair of that female monster, you must also need the dragon blood of the black dragon 'Serios', don't you?"
Barrett casually rested his hand on the hilt of his sword and nodded blankly again.
"Did the old man Amos tell you that if you challenge him and succeed in defeating him, he will help you get some of the blood of the black dragon?"
He didn't say what would happen if he failed, he didn't know, or he didn't want to say, "You know that?" Barrett asked.
The person in front of him didn't answer directly, "Forgive me for asking a more presumptuous question, I want to know, do you plan to stay here, or, do you want to get out?"
"Adventurers are used to walking around, and staying in the same place all the time can get boring. Barrett didn't answer positively.
"Actually, it's quite big here. And it's not as bad as you think. The male villager scratched his neck and said casually, "There have been many people who have tried to stay here but have not been able to get it!, but in any case, since you are going to leave, I would advise you not to try to challenge Amos." Surely you will not be able to defeat him. ”
"Oh, you seem to know him well?" Seriously, Barrett didn't see it too much.
"I don't know, it's just that he was a bit famous at that time. "Amour was once a follower of a legendary mage, and he even fought with that legendary mage in the kingdom of some gods during the War of Faith, and killed a powerful demigod with his rapier. On top of that, he's also single-handedly killed an Hellfire Dragon, and you know, the Hellfire Dragon isn't the kind of hybrid-blooded thing you wear on your feet. He gestured to the dragon leather boots on Barrit's feet, "There's more to come." You can see that you seem to be confident in what you can do, but can you do all of that?"
This guy seems to be trying to squeeze me with words, and Barrett is quite familiar with this little trick.
"In those days, Amos was known as 'Perero's Invincible Swordsman', but of course, this title seems to have disappeared now, and newcomers only know him as the village chief, and even his own name is little known. That's why I say that there is no practical meaning in calling such a thing, and no matter how loud it is, it will eventually be forgotten. ”
"You say so much to me a little confused. Barrett frowned and asked, "If this village elder named Amos really participated in the Battle of the Faith, then he would have to be at least a thousand years old by now, which is obviously impossible." "Ordinary people can't have the same long lifespan as a mage, no matter how high his martial arts are.
"That's because you don't know anything about this place. Alien ignorant adventurers. Guess what's this place for?"
......
