Chapter 4 Confusion
Many people will know that there are some unknown features on their loved one's body, which may be a mole in a hidden area, or a scar on a hidden part, or a small birthmark in an unspeakable place......
But few people can clearly know the exact three-dimensional of their lover, even if those 'three-dimensional' have been rubbed and played with by their own palms......
'The Iron Bride' is the name of Barrett's sword, and it is not he who takes the name, but one of his former dwarven partners.
Even though the scathing-speaking dwarf was trying to laugh at him, at the way he always kept his sword in his hand and at the concentration he felt when he wiped it, Barrett still thought it was a good name. Yes, for him and his sword, it's all very appropriate.
Barrett cherished his 'bride' because she had been with him since he was an adult.
The 'Iron Bride' was a gift from Barrett's father when he was an adult, and the sword was not a magic weapon, just an ordinary Nord longsword. While the blacksmith who built it was well-known in the town, that fame was more for crafting the battle axe.
But Barrett was not as strong as he is now, he was too young and weak to wield the double-edged battle axe commonly used by the Nords.
Barrett knew his 'bride' well, not only because they had not been together for a short time, but also because of the upbringing he received in his youth.
"A good warrior knows his weapon as well as he knows his appetite. Barrett's father, Magnu Möngke, a former Nord royal guard who had retired from military service, used to say this to him.
The middle-aged man with a scruffy beard would instruct young Barrett in martial arts while talking to him about the cuisine of the Nords, or roll smoked sausages and pickled cucumbers in pancakes while demonstrating Barrett the pace of attacking and retreating.
"Be as steady as a crab when you move sideways, first with your toes dotted and then with the soles of your feet!" that was Barrett's father's movement when he was teaching him to fight against people, and if you ignore the pancakes rolled in old Menggo's hand, the strict posture and serious eyes are very intimidating.
But then, "The best way to eat crabs is steaming, and when you eat it, pour a drop of plum vinegar on the orange-yellow crab paste, and that taste, well......" The serious eyes turned into a desire for food, and he didn't care about the confusion on the face of the young Barrett.
But in any case, Barrett has survived to this day, and has developed a good habit of maintaining and using weapons, and the unique way of educating Montgot Sr. should be indispensable.
Barrett had been using the sword for nearly twenty years, and when he held it, he could even feel his blood flowing through the palm of his hand, through the entire blade, and then back into his body. He and the sword mingled with each other.
He could even close his eyes and easily find his 'bride' from hundreds of identical Nord longswords with the touch of his fingers.
But even then, he couldn't say the specific specifications of the sword so precisely, because that 'understanding' was more of a feeling than an exhaustive list of data, let alone such an unbelievable form. In fact, Barrett doesn't think anyone can do that.
Except for the mages.
No, even mages, even if they could write words in the air with magic ink and keep those words hanging in the air forever, they couldn't imprint the meaning of words they couldn't understand directly in people's minds, no.
Barrett was actually eager to get some help from mages who could do almost anything, and he did have a few good mage friends. And the location of one of the mages is only 7 days away from here, and if you ask him, it will probably help Barrett in his current situation, probably!
But the barbarian adventurer did not dare to do so, he feared that he would be caught by his mage friends in the Magic Association to conduct some mysterious research that was not known to outsiders.
Most of the mages have a somewhat bizarre style, and their curiosity is stronger than that of a rabbit in heat who has taken aphrodisiacs. Yes, that's what Barrett thinks. Rabbits may also take a break due to stamina issues, but those mages will not.
Adventurers, when bored, often talk about the absurdity of the mages:
Some people say that a mage they know will go to the cemetery alone to sing on the full moon night every month, and even some invisible 'things' are applauding the mage, others say that they have seen a mage turn a mouse into a fiery beauty, and even swear that a mage has loaded a donkey for himself......
These seemingly absurd things are not just rumors, at least among the mages Barrett knew, someone turned his right hand into an octopus tentacle full of suckers, and after a few days of use, because the tentacles were always wet, he changed it back.
"Don't speculate on the style of the mages, even if you're a mage yourself. This is a proverb that is widely circulated in the mainland, and its meaning is very telling.
If the weird creatures were to find out about Barrett, the brute would probably open his mind and look at it excitedly to see if there were any strange mutations going on inside, or put his head on the goblin to see if the words would still appear, or pull his soul out of his body and search it bit by bit with magic.
Of course, before doing these experiments, the mages would also ask Barrett to sign a note of "volunteering" to participate in the experiments.
Barrett didn't know much about magic because he didn't have the talent to be a mage. He just knew that magic was magical and convenient, but it was more dangerous.
The barbarian adventurer closed his eyes and sighed deeply. As long as he stared intently at the sword, it wouldn't be long before these mysterious words would naturally manifest themselves. And when he closed his eyes or took his gaze off his sword, even a moment, the translucent words would disappear like clouds of smoke.
He had also tried to make the line appear in front of Rey, but the girl didn't react. With Barrett's knowledge of girls, he didn't think that with the girl's somewhat perverse personality, she could be expressionless and hold back after seeing such a strange thing. She doesn't have that kind of city.
So it seems that these strange words are only visible to me?, Barrett thought to herself.
He took out of his leather pocket the fiery red feather of a bird he did not know what it was, which he had discovered by chance in one of his adventures from a gnolls' lair. The adventurer's unique instinct told him that this thing should sell for a few 'golden kings', no matter what country the 'king' belonged to.
Barrett took a deep breath and began to gaze intently at the red feather.
The feathers are slightly heavier than expected in the palms of the hands, and the feathers are completely transparent, with only a slight gradient of white at the roots. The whole feather reflects a metallic luster in the sunlight, like molten iron flowing inside.
Time was passing little by little, and after a long time, Barrit's eyes began to dry and sour, and he resisted the urge to blink, because doing so would make the words 'dissatisfied'. You can only stare at it without blinking, and those words may reveal their 'posture'.
Barrett used her powerful willpower to control herself to stare at the feather. Finally, the strangely structured square text appeared again:
[Feathers of the Flame Dragon Eagle: The feathers at the end of the right wing of the male adult Flame Dragon Eagle, the feathers are 32.6 cm long and 5.2 cm wide, containing a small amount of flame elements. - Beautiful appearances are all for reproduction]
Barrett had only heard of it, but had never seen such a creature, and he didn't know where it would be. At least there are no such creatures in the 'Misty Forest' near Bay of Pigs. Probably not.
And the last sentence of the unclear words, as if he was commenting on the object of some kind of unknown meaning, but it seemed to be just a simple ridicule.
Who, or what, was conveying this information to him, and Barrett was at a loss.
Or is it that this information existed in the world in the first place, and that some kind of change had been made in the barbarian so that he could observe them?
Just as the barbarian adventurer was constantly trying to observe other objects with this unknown change, a small mark of dark purple lightning flashed at the junction between his cervical vertebrae and his head, as if it had never appeared.
......
