Chapter 41: The Blood Mage and the Refugee Camp
After continuing to discuss some details, Gise came out of the official residence of Nikkov. As he looked at the blue sky, he was finally relieved that his long-standing goal had been neutralized and completed.
The Bavarian kingdom made it easy to become part of Bavaria as long as they could help recover Probez.
A few days ago, the Bavarian Liberation Army, led by the Praetorian Guard, had just retreated from Probez, and the magicians from Yepharan had become the biggest obstacle. The task given to the priests by Nikkov was to rid them of the mages who were in the way, so that the troops could reclaim Probez.
At the thought of Yefaran, Guise became a little uneasy again, the name was too familiar to be more familiar. His whole life has basically lived in the shadow of Ye Faran Magician, and the never-ending pursuit has almost become all of his memory. Although they are all inheritors of magic, because of some conceptual surprises, they and their peers have become indispensable beings.
Because in the mouths of the world, they have a name that everyone hatesβthe Blood Mage. It is true that blood mages are even crazier in the pursuit of magic than Ye Falan, and they can delve into the secrets of magic at any cost. And with the support of this fanaticism, the blood mage will definitely do something that ordinary people can't understand, and may even encroach on the survival of others.
As the leader of one of the blood mages, Guise no longer wants to be hunted down by the Yefaran mage. He hoped that his juniors and disciples could get rid of the identity of the blood mage and bid farewell to the life of being terrified and displaced.
On the outskirts of Dislafah, there is what appears to be a refugee camp, where refugees from elsewhere are gathered. Many of them escaped from Probez. Niekov, the administrator of Disraffa, did not allow them to beg in the city, believing that it was an act that undermined the dignity of the royal capital.
In order not to disturb the order of the city, Nikkov decided to set aside a place outside the city to house the refugees. In the camps, the government gives these scruffy homeless people a minimum living need. After all, many of these refugees are nationals, and if the war is over, they will return to the mountains of Probez and Monria. And, in a way, Bavaria intends to maintain such a group of people. so that it can be used when necessary.
It was not known to anyone how far the war with Bohemia would go, and in the event of a shortage of soldiers, Nikkov would find qualified cannon fodder from the refugee camps to win for the Kingdom of Bavaria.
In order to avoid Yefaran's pursuit, Guisli arranged the blood mages in the refugee camp against the crowd. The old man's reason was simple, those Yefaran magicians who were pampered in Yefaran would not come to a dirty place like a refugee camp to find someone.
Although this reason is also very convincing, there are still many people who disagree with this kind of cowering and deliberately avoiding Ye Falan. There are many blood mages who think that even if they are facing the upper leaf flange, they have a certain chance of winning. In the long past, many blood mages have studied the weaknesses of Ye Phalan mages in more detail than anyone else.
Guise went out of his way to reassure everyone that he would find a better place for everyone to stay, and the camp was just a temporary place to stay. After Guise's efforts to persuade him. Everyone else had to accept this arrangement for the time being. But as time passed, they found themselves still in the damn camp, and some of the pent-up emotions returned
Gradually, many young people began to hate the life of living with refugees. Even as a blood mage, the arrogance in the mage's blood can't be changed. To grab a piece of bread with those dirty-looking refugees, no blood mage wants to live like this every day.
"I've had enough of this place. A young man poured out the bowl of soup about the same amount of clear water, "Yum, when are we going to get out of this damn place?" β
"When, it's coming. The young man named Yum shoved the hardwood-like bread into his mouth, and he almost forgot what the meat tasted like.
I watched the refugees holding the black charcoal bread with joy. The young man suddenly felt the urge to burn everything in front of him.
"It would be nice to be able to come and make a fire. He said to himself.
"What, come on fire? You're crazy, Itab. Yum didn't expect the person in front of him to come up with such an idea, "How many of us are in a refugee camp?"
"I don't want to live like this anymore. Itab said word for word. After hesitating for a while, he said the thoughts that had been suppressed in his heart, "Two days ago, some of my former friends contacted me, and he said that I should bring a few blood mages to follow them to do a big deal. Are you interested?"
"What friends?" said Yum, "are those necromancers who spend their days dealing with dead people's skeletons? I don't want to mess with them, spend all day with dead carrion. They stink worse than the toilets in the camps. The old man didn't let us get together with these blasphemers of life early in the morning. Once the Blood Mage and the Necromancer merge, in addition to evading the pursuit of the Yefaran Law Supervision Council, we also have to beware of the hunting of the Holy Light Covenant, which is too risky. β
Necromancers are also an outlier outside of regular magicians, and although Yefaran doesn't have much to do with them, the followers of the Goddess of Life and the Holy Light Covenant keep a close eye on them, and they will not forgive these unbelievers who blaspheme the dead. Therefore, Yum felt that once he stayed with those necromancers, the danger suddenly increased several times over.
"If you want to live a better life, you have to be bold and careful. "I don't care anyway, I'd be crazy if I was allowed to stay here." β
The two argued over whether or not to work with the equally notorious necromancer, completely oblivious to the return of their mentor, Gith.
"Fate twists and turns, and it goes in a roundabout way. Everyone has countless lows in their lives, and Itab have only a few of you?" Guise, who had just entered, didn't hear what was being discussed, but from the bored look in the student's eyes, he knew that he was complaining about why he was staying in the refugee camp.
"Teacher, I survived Yefaran's eight sieges, and I broke through the howling forest alone that even the mercenary squad could not necessarily retreat with, and escaped the revenge of the burning hounds. Itab said with some indignation, "Teacher, which magician do you say has experienced so many setbacks at my age?"
For this best and most troublesome student, Guise didn't know what to say. Admittedly, empty preaching no longer worked for him, and Guise could only persuade bitterly: "I know what you want to say, but you also have to think about the others, in case I am not there, they will all need you to take care of you." β
Seeing that the old man was pressing himself with obligations again, Itab was naturally even more unhappy. Because of Yum's presence, he didn't have a seizure, but he felt that the burden on his body was very heavy, and he was about to overwhelm himself. In his opinion, the mentor's fearful attitude is the reason why the blood mage is embarrassed to hide in the refugee camp today.
The awkward atmosphere made Yum feel that something was wrong, and just as he was about to find a topic to distract himself, Keith broke the silence.
"King Rucario of Bohemia has entrusted his chief minister with granting me a refugee claim. "We will be citizens of Bavaria from now on, and we will no longer have to hide in such a sneaky way." β
"Teacher, what do you mean by this?" Itab, who was extremely intelligent, suddenly guessed the hidden meaning behind these words, "Teacher, what kind of deal did you make with them so that they would rather offend Ye Falan than protect us?"
"I promised them help regain the town of Probez, their attack was thwarted by Yepharan's magicians, what a bunch of rice buckets. Keith said with a smile.
Seeing Guise's bright smile, the two of them, who had never seen their mentor smile so happily for a long time, believed what the person in front of them said. Itab said with some trepidation, "Yepharan's magician, do you want me to follow them to Probez?"
Guise rejected Itab's request: "No, it's not difficult at all. These Bavarian buns who have never met a magician, and they can't even handle a few formation mages, which really makes me laugh to death. You and Yum start preparing now, we'll start moving to the city in the afternoon, and we'll be part of Disraffa from now on. (To be continued......)
