Chapter Seventy-Seven: Expectations (II)
Another night, the girls hug a neurotic Elvia, who is woken up by Alessia banging on some kind of pot lid. Where did she get the lid of the pot? Women can't cook!
They stared at the brunette beauty with hazy eyes, and then found bundles of clothes on the bed.
"Dada! I had someone place an order in a hurry. It cost me half a bag of crystals!Damage-proof, self-repairing combat suits!I gave theirs to Deborah and Ritu, these are your own. It's all the color of the black acacia tree. β
"Oh yes!" Xiao Yue jumped off the bed and shredded the package.
The wrapper was easily unwrapped, revealing a beautiful white short-sleeved blouse with Blackwater's coat of arms on the right breast pocket. The skirt has pleats and checkered patterns, with black and white silver-gray tartans. There was also a small suit, but only the shirt and skirt were attracted to cut costs. They are still public schools after all. Even with Alesia's best efforts, the school could not afford to give five students a full set of equipment. Gwen had asked her grandfather if he would like to donate, but Surya told her that competitive items were limited to certain kinds, such as life-saving items. For example, her elemental absorption level only triggers when she takes damage, but most matches result in a mage's mana shield being broken, meaning that a mage is oh or no longer has the ability to defend itself. His other reason is much simpler. Magical items aren't cabbages! You can't ask a craftsman for five sets in three months! It takes months for a major manufacturing department to weave a fabric that repairs itself, resulting in a damage-resistant suit. Each thread must be deformed separately and then braided together. Surya wasn't a tailor, he was a trinket dealer.
The girls get dressed. They looked smart and preppy in pleated skirts. They had their existing school shoes, which were a pair of polished oxfords. Gwen chose her "charismatic" Mary Janise, whose black leather suited the outfit and had the added benefit of matching the damage and dust resistance of her new uniform. A simple tie completes the accessories department, creating a cute bow from their finger width, with a silver-trimmed tie.
"Hey!" said Xiao Yue in surprise, her chest straightened and her elbows bent. "Shirt! It takes shape on its own!"
"That's true," Alexia said to the student with a thumbs up. In some sectors, Yue is unmatched.
"Don't like these?" Gwen asked Alexia, wanting to confirm the question she'd been asking for a while. "Your Jean watch has shredded every garment you wear. β
"I could, but then I would have to wear the same clothes all the time. Alicia nodded wisely. "What's the fun about that?"
The rest of the team assembles in the elevator lobby. Interestingly, there are slight differences in their uniforms. Ivey's top has long sleeves for better protection. Deborah's shirt was sleeveless and the skirt was shorter so that she could perform more acrobatic moves while also accentuating the curves of her athletic legs. Rittal's shirt was like a second skin on the hilly terrain of his chest. He has a tie in his personal uniform with a loose tie that is black to match his trousers, which have been changed to a straight-cut plain fit. They noticed that Huitu was wearing heavy steel-toed leather boots with an impressive row of metal spikes.
When the members finished checking each other's new uniforms, they saw the academy staff waiting for them in the atrium.
Principal Bartlett was waiting for them, as well as their teachers and teachers. The morning students gathered to watch the scene in a daze, and a group of five entered the atrium dressed in new clothes.
"Gwen, Avia, Yue, Deborah, and Mister Taranga. I wish you all the best for your future. I am glad to know that although the contribution of the school is minimal, you are now stepping out to challenge the world in our name. β
Gwen bowed, and the others followed.
The students murmured. The fact that Blackwater University will challenge the top 8 colleges has yet to spread among students. Gwen and his companions hid it together.
"That's not true, sir. Sir, ladies and gentlemen, we owe everything we have today to you, and no matter what the outcome of the game is, we will never forget what you have done for us. Gwen replied formally without hesitation, putting a big smile on the coach's face.
In front of the other students, the teacher and the student shook hands tightly.
Mr. Rosen even made a rare appearance with a lumen tape recorder, and considering the sacred moment, Blackwater, a public high school with no rank, was going to challenge one of the top 8 schools in the state. How will history remember this moment? If the girls succeeded, would they become a school of choice? What about the students here? Will they receive the necessary training and funding to become the elite of political domination?
"Alesia, take care of them!" Bartlett sang to Alexia emotionally. He still remembered the first time he called Alessia to help Gwen. The girl is being held hostage by her family and is ready to be shown and sold to join a private school. Bartlett was helpless, and he had asked for as much help as he could, including one of his old assistants to the war, Henry Kilroy. Unexpectedly, Kilroy responds, and after a series of escalating events, Gwen becomes something that exceeds his wildest expectations. What will people say when Gwen has her own tower? Will they say, ah, she's from Blackwater, an option school led by the late Headmaster Edward Bartlet?" "If Gwen became a mage who opened up more space for humanity, how would history remember him? They would think, 'Oh, you know, it was Bartlett who first recognized her talent and gave the legendary magician his first taste of privilege and power?'
"Oh, they'll come back safely!!" Alexia laughed, and the instructor followed awkwardly. They weren't sure if the mage was joking or if she meant it. For Alesia, whatever she says is acceptable.
"Are you ready to go?" a familiar voice shouted.
"Paul!" Gwen waved excitedly. Alicia appears at the magician's door.
"Hey Gwen, look good! Are you eighteen years old?"
"Soon, Paul," Gwen said with a sneer.
Paul lamented a fundamental fact of their cruel world: "Old enough to date, but enough to kill." "Well, ladies, if you're almost done, I'll fire Roseby's phone circle, wait. β
Particles of mana fluttered in the air and landed like dandruff on the students' new uniforms.
Alicia cough.
"God! What does this old mantra mean! Efficiency! Oh my God, when did they make it?"
Paul the Magician replied, "It looks like what they did when the school was built, it feels like the '70s." "We had this situation a lot in old institutions. β
The rest of the televised crowd stared blankly at the towering cathedral in front of them.
Ocean!
Cliff!
Open skies!
Even more impressive was the scene in front of them.
Their gaze fell from the impressive building, towards a sea of blue ruffled skirts and dark penguin habits.
"Welcome to Rosebay!" Mrs. Stone greeted them with open arms.
"Welcome to Rosebay!" a group of girls behind them immediately announced.
There was a low explosion in the sky, and Xiao Yue instinctively dodged it, and a burst of laughter erupted in the middle of a group of little girls. Deborah looked stunned and mocking, and replied with a "Humph!"
Above Gwen and the others' heads, a string of rose petals begins to fall, an incredibly useless but extremely aesthetically pleasing signature spell.
"Oh my God!
The girls replied, their sweet voices filling the courtyard.
Just when the Black Wattle crew thought the show was over, the young girls began to sing, their angelic voices joining the petals' fall. Soon, the older girls joined the choir.
"Hallelujah,
For our Lord God Almighty reigns
alleluia
God Almighty reigns over us for our burdens
alleluia
Divine, sacred,
Are you the Lord God Almighty!
The lamb is valuable,
The Lamb is worthy!"
Gwen and the crew felt frozen. What kind of reception was this! It was the greatest and most impressive thing they'd ever experienced in their lives! How did they begin to react to it?
Later, Gwen was distracted by the layout of the training ground behind the girls. She saw two dignified seated statues on the VIP stage. One of them, dressed in a familiar tweed jacket and waistcoat, was next to a slender woman with bark-like skin and autumn leaves, looking imposing. Next to him was a middle-aged woman with two white hairs running through her crown hair and piled up in a kind of high braid. She looked at her solemnly, the power and ability that radiated - no doubt it would be Judge Ferris, one of the ten, Rossby's patron.
The choir disappeared, and Maggs Stone opened a path for them.
"I look forward to working with you, Gwen Song. Judge Ferris himself is interested in you. As you rise in this world, remember my humble service. Gwen said as she walked past them.
Gwen thanked the hostess, but said nothing more. Exposing the stakes only makes her companions extremely nervous. The stakes are already significant. In addition, she is not sure if Deborah or others will see her "deal" as some kind of betrayal. After all, anyone could be very happy if they studied at such a school as Rossby - full of a bright future, with the possibility of avoiding catastrophic military service.
The Blackwater crew felt like a metaphor for an exotic beast, and the four hundred girls, all dressed in blue and with red roses on their heads, looked at them in fascination.
"Oh my God, look at that girl's dress! it's so short I can see her shorts!"
"The leader is so beautiful! Master Stone seems to like her. β
"Oh my gosh, look at that one, she's so strong! Those muscles! Is she a wrestler?"
"Who knows, I heard that ordinary students have to do manual labor to pay tuition!"
"Oops, that's horrible!"
"Wait! Look at the Asian shorts. β
"Who cares, she's just some migrant worker, I want to know the tall one. β
"No!
"Oh my God, she's ...... Half-dead, is it true?"
"It's padded!
"Wow! What's that?"
"Big man, maybe he's a valet. β
"He's too big. β
"I think he's a bit of a dream. β
"No way! What is a tattoo on his face?"
"Look at his feet! It's bigger than my feet. β
"You know what they say about bigfoot men, Fufufu. β
"What do they say?"
"They said..."
"Shhhh β
β... They need very big shoes!"
They were escorted into the courtyard and placed in front of the audience.
The dueling arena itself is a large venue, about 100Γ5 meters, with a dividing line in the middle. The exterior of the platform is lined with magic shock absorbers and portable shields, preventing the battle from spreading to the observing spectators. Gwen notes that the ground itself is also inscribed with incantations and morphing inscriptions, suggesting that it can be repaired or transformed into a different landscape on the whims of the Administrator.
On the opposing side, a group of girls shuffled in. They were all so vague, almost all wearing the same blue habits and red rose brooches. Gwen can only distinguish them based on their height and the mana that radiates from them.
"Probing magic. She muttered under her breath.
There are also particles of divination magic on the other side. Both teams took the advantage by checking each other.
Gwen measured the other mana.
Igniter.
Ice Magician.
Homemade
Aerial soothsayer
Positive energy healer.
The other awakened one, the Earth again.
There is also a girl who is distinctly different from the others, her elements are a strange mixture of fire and earth, and her school seems to be blurred. This must have been a member of the reserves, the so-called governor of the school's wealth.
Gwen knew what that meant - just like herself, her signal was a chaotic mana mess, and the girl was most likely a mage in training who was able to enter at least two schools. In any case, the other team has both regular and reserve players. Gwen's team was only five. They can't afford to lose a single member, and they can't expose too much power before 5 May 5. Richard's suggestion echoed in Gwen's mind. She has a decision to make.
The two teams gathered in front of Kilroy and Ferris, both of whom made a deep bow in front of the High Magician, who nodded affirmatively.
After the hustle and bustle of the portal, the rest of the game appears rather austere in the ceremony. Alicia and Stone conducted inspections on opposing team members, meeting the requirement that students not carry prohibited items. Their storage rings were also confiscated for the time being, along with any portable equipment, healing, polishing, or mana potions. When Stone saw Gwen's scales, she stopped, but said nothing, as Ferris himself chose to remain silent.
When all the statements were made and completed, the two mages, Stone and Alesia, appeared below the judge and announced that they were ready to proceed.
"Morph the terrain!"
There must have been some sort of lottery going on, as the land was immediately turned into a hilltop and weeds that looked like they could entangle an unwary traveler.
Margus Stone shifted from the platform to the two teams.
"Gwen Song, Black Thorn Bay! to Julia Fiore MΓΌller!"
Gwen walked onto the court and watched her opponent do the same. It was a tall girl with two schools.
Julia took off her customary coat, revealing a blue and red fitted jumpsuit that clung to her athletic figure. She looks muscular, giving the impression that Deborah spends too much time at the gym. Her hair is cut short, which makes Gwen suspect that she may have a systemic effect.
Gwen inhales and exhales, calming her beating heart. She only had one chance. She had faith in Richard. She has faith in herself.
Above, a startup command was issued.
"May the best mage win this day!"
"Let's go!"
